After a second, she asked, “Will you wear a ring, too?”
Once we’re married. Trying to be judicious, he asked, “Is that what you want?”
“I think I’d like to be engaged to you.” With a little wicked smile, she said, “Imagine how Parrish and Reyes will react.”
So far, so good. “After dating, and an engagement, after you’ve met my folks and you’re comfortable—”
“I’m so comfortable with you, Hunter.” She tangled her fingers in his hair. “I love you, remember?”
“Then we’ll get married.” In case that spooked her, he whispered, “When you’re ready.”
“Married.” Her smile trembled, but not out of fear. No, she looked intrigued...and a little in awe. “I used to think my superpower was fighting invisible demons. Now I know that it’s catching the hottest, most amazing, wonderful man in the world.”
Humbled, Hunter promised, “We’ll fight those demons together.”
“Then we should probably get hitched.” She tried to sound serious, and ended up grinning. “It’ll be almost like the everyday life for the everyday woman.”
“But with you, it’s going to be even better.” He framed her face in his hands. “It’s going to be extraordinary.”
