Shoulder the Skye (Skye Druids #2)(66)
Author: Donna Grant

“You need to know. Just in case.”

His arms tightened around her. “We’re good at what we do. Trust me.”

“I do,” she said as she wound her arms around his neck. It was Sydney she didn’t trust.

Elias’s lips softened. “There’s something I need to say to you, too.”

“Oh?” Her heart began to race.

“Aye,” he murmured as his head lowered and his lips brushed hers. “You’re in my blood now, Bronwyn. There will never be another for me, lass.”

He didn’t give her a chance to reply as he captured her mouth in a scorching kiss that stole her breath and weakened her knees. Her breasts swelled, and her sex clenched greedily for him.

Elias spun them until he pressed her between him and the wall. The feeling of his arousal made her moan as she recalled how he felt moving inside her, thick and hard. Her fingers dug into his neck while she rocked against him. She was on fire for his touch, and his alone.

He tore his mouth from hers and pressed his forehead against hers. His voice was roughened by desire when he said, “Och, lass. I want you.”

She took his hand and led him down the hall to her bedroom. She pulled him inside and closed the door behind them. Then she wrenched off her boots and jeans as she made her way to the bed. She managed to get one leg free of the denim before Elias hauled her against him. His eyes burned with a need that matched hers.

He kissed her, then palmed her hips and spun her around. Bronwyn grabbed the footboard as one of his large hands moved around to the front of her. She gasped when his soft fingers slid through her curls and teased her tender flesh. His finger entered her, sliding deep.

“You’re so wet,” he whispered.

She pushed her hips back, seeking more of him. Elias chuckled and moved his finger, slick with her juices, over her throbbing clit. She cried out as pleasure shot through her. The sound of a package crinkling reached her. He moved away to put on the condom. She bit her lip when she felt the head of his cock at her entrance. Then, with one thrust, he was inside her.

Elias leaned over her as he continued circling her clit with his finger. “I’ve never burned for anyone as I do you,” he whispered hotly next to her ear. He pulled out and shoved himself deep again. “You’re no’ just in my blood, lass. You’re in my heart. My verra soul.”

With every sentence, he pulled out and drove deep as if punctuating his words. The fire between them, the need—and his declaration—had her trembling, right on the precipice of an orgasm.

She tried to find words to answer him, but she couldn’t think clearly when her body teemed with the exquisite carnal pleasure he wrung from her effortlessly. Her knees began to shake as his finger moved faster around her clit, urging her toward climax.

Bronwyn clung to the footboard, her eyes closing as she gave in to the sensations coursing through her and reveled in the sounds of their bodies coming together.

“Elias,” she whispered tightly.

“Aye, lass,” he replied. “I’m nearly there.”

She pressed her forehead to the wooden footboard as pleasure swept through her. She gasped when the first wild, hedonistic waves of pleasure rolled through her. Elias gripped her hips with both hands and thrust hard and fast until he let out a guttural sound and buried himself so deeply he touched her womb. She could feel him pulsing within her, and in response, her body clenched around him firmly.

The harsh sounds of their breathing filled the room.

Bronwyn shoved her hair out of the way to look at Elias over her shoulder. His chest heaved as he grinned. He pulled out and turned her around. She cupped his face. “You’re in my blood, too. My heart. My soul.”

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

Elias’s heart missed a beat. He searched Bronwyn’s hazel eyes, finding truth to her words. He parted his lips, ready to say the words he had already all but said, when Carlyle’s voice rang out from the hall, calling their names.

“We’ll be right there!” Bronwyn shouted in reply.

She gave him a long, tender kiss before pulling away to dress. Elias wanted to reach for her, to return them to where they had been before being rudely interrupted. It wasn’t his friend’s fault, however. It was his. Three words. That was all he needed to say, but they stuck in his throat.

Bronwyn faced him and winked. She was already dressed. Her gaze lowered to his now flaccid cock and the condom that hung precariously from it. “The bathroom is through there,” she told him and pointed to a door behind him.

She walked to him and pressed her lips to his again. Instinctively, his hands held her against him. Now. This was the time he could tell her. But when she leaned back and met his gaze, the words wouldn’t come.

“Is everything okay?” she asked, a small frown wrinkling her brow.

Elias forced his hands to release her. He’d never told a woman that he loved them. He’d never pledged his heart to anyone. He’d never had a real relationship. He’d never wanted one. How could he after what’d happened with his dad? A part of him wasn’t sure he was meant to love anyone. The other part of him, the side that churned with long-held anger and resentment was terrified that he’d become like his father.

He’d ignored that part of himself for so long. It had been easy since no one had ever made him think about a future. Then Bronwyn came into his life again. He didn’t just want a relationship with her, he wanted it all. With her.

More than he’d ever wanted anything else in his life.

That was when memories of his father reared their ugly head. His dad’s taunting words of how a real man should act seemed to reverberate through his mind in a never-ending toll.

“Elias?”

He pulled himself to the present and tucked a strand of her dark locks behind her ear. “I’m fine.”

“I don’t believe that.”

“Elias!” Carlyle bellowed.

Elias sighed. “I will be. Promise,” he told Bronwyn. “Let me clean up. I’ll be right down.”

She studied him for a moment longer before stepping back and letting her arms fall from him. “I’ll go see Carlyle.”

Elias forced a smile and turned on his heel as he made his way to the bathroom. He glanced over his shoulder when he heard the soft click of the door closing behind her. He braced his hands on the sink and shook his head. He’d thought he had banished his father from his mind years ago. It was just like the bastard to ruin things now when Elias had found something good, something meaningful.
