I help carry over the last of the food as Harry heads outside to round up the kids. It snowed yesterday and the kids have been playing in it all morning. They even talked Harry and me into a snowball fight earlier.
The kids clamber inside, shedding layers and snow as they go. Gracelyn reminds them to wash their hands before they sit down and they race off to the bathroom.
I sneak a miniature pumpkin pie bite and I laugh when I see Harry do the same. The two of us have become best friends over the last ten years. It was inevitable with how much time we spend together. He still doesn’t say much but that’s okay.
Everyone takes their seat and I pull out a chair for my wife, dropping a kiss on her lips before I take the seat next to her.
“Everything looks delicious!” Bella says as she starts to pass the food around.
Gracelyn smiles scooping some mashed potatoes onto Rita’s plate before she takes some herself. We finish passing the food around and Gracelyn looks around the table.
“Need anything else?” She asks me.
“Nope. I’ve got everything I need,” I say.
She grins at me, leaning over to kiss me as the kids groan in the background. I just laugh against her lips at them.
“I love you,” I whisper in Gracelyn’s ear and she looks up at me.
“I love you too.”
“Let’s eat!”
