I pointed at the deejay, and the first beats of the song started. After a deep breath, I lifted my head and focused on her. The only woman in the world. My Madison. I sang the first line about how I think about her all the time, the girl I love. The second line came easier about calling her up. Her smile warmed me all over.
And then something happened. The rest of the room didn’t exist anymore. Hell, the rest of the world didn’t exist. It was just us. Me and you and you and me. We were meant to be. And she did make me so fucking happy.
I carried the wireless mic through the bar, singing as I made my way to her. Color flushed her cheeks, and I serenaded her, taking her hand to lead her back to the stage with me. We sang the last verse together, harmonizing, laughing, and loving.
The song ended, and I wrapped her in my arms. “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” she whispered.
So damned happy together.
Acknowledgments
Thanks for reading my books. If you enjoyed the story, I hope you’ll leave a review. They help new readers find the wolf pack.
This was my first book written from the other coast. We relocated cross country during the pandemic, and I hit the ground running. Like Madison, we still have a few boxes left to unpack, but it’s starting to feel like home. Big thanks to my kids, Panda and Reno, for all their help with the move. I love you both so much!
Big thanks go out to my amazing editor, Danielle Poiesz-Luby from Double Vision Editorial and to my fantastic cover designer, Fiona Jayde, for always making the wolf pack look sexy. You both make indie publishing so fun!
To my intrepid beta readers Denise Fluhr and Heather Cox, thanks for reading all my words and helping make them coherent! You always inspire me to get the next chapter done. You rock!
Another shout out to the Wordmakers! Our daily zoom sprints helped me get this book written in record time. Thanks for making me accountable and making every day in the “office” so inspiring!
This book also wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my amazing Patrons on Patreon! Can’t wait for you to read this one. I appreciate all your support and encouragement.
Thanks to my amazing Night Angel reader group on Facebook. Seriously the BEST readers in the world! I hope you all enjoyed Cole and Madison’s journey. Thanks for cheering me on and writing reviews. I couldn’t do this without you!
And to my husband Ken, 2020 has been a scary year, but we made it through, and we’re still laughing. I’m so lucky to get my own happily ever after with you. Thanks for believing in me, and for always asking “Are you sprinting?” before showing me funny videos. I love you!
