Chapter 11

Kaley

“I don’t need to talk to you,” I said. “Let me go or I’ll scream. It wouldn’t look good for a man in your position to be harassing a young woman you were investigating, would it?”

“It wasn’t like that, Kaley,” Sutton said. “You’re not someone I’m investigating. I’m trying to protect you.”

“Yeah, right,” I said.

“You don’t know what’s going on,” Sutton said.

“Look, what I do know is that you framed me with that video…”

“To get you out of that house,” Sutton said. “To get you away from the Keystones.”

“They won’t hurt me,” I said. “They love me.”

Sutton looked so angry, he wanted to punch the wall behind me. “You believe that? As soon as they find out you will inherit all of their inheritance from their father, you’ll see how much they care for you. You’ll see how much they really love you or how much they love their dad’s money.”

“First of all, that’s not going to happen,” I said. “Mr. Keystone wouldn’t do that to his own flesh and blood. Second of all, why would I trust you when you’ve been lying to everyone from the start?”

“Because I know more than I can tell you right now,” Sutton said. “And because…” he smashed his lips onto mine, crushing me with a passionate kiss that sent my head whirling. “I care for you so much, Kaley, I’m willing to risk my career as a cop for you, even my life.”

His tongue was licking mine as his hard-on rubbed against my stomach. My nipples harden as his thumb rubbed against them over my sweater dress, causing me to moan.

“Yes, that’s it,” Sutton said huskily. “I could take you right here, Kaley. Shove you hard against the wall and bend you over.”

His thumb kept rubbing my nipples as he kissed along my neck. “You’re going to be mine, and you know it. You’re going to come to me willingly and beg me to fuck you so hard you won’t be able to stand.”

“You wish,” I gritted my teeth. What his mouth and hands were doing to me made it hard to think -- to refuse his delicious touch.

“You’re not getting any of this hard loving from them, are you, Kaley. You’re not satisfied with them at all. I could tell with how hungry you are for my touch. You can’t even speak when I’m touching you like this.”

Damn, I wanted to tell him off, but I was craving him.

God, the last time we fucked, it was at his beautiful home – one that he had re-built with his own hands – in his shower, where he had an entire wall covered by mirror. So so sexy.

“You still think about the last time we fucked, don’t you, Kaley?” Sutton groaned into my ear. “I do. I dream about it every night you’ve been away from me. I jack off to it, thinking of you and how beautiful you look when you’re coming.”

“Sutton,” I said. “I have to go...”

“Yeah, it’s time to go,” Sutton said.

With that, he handcuffed one of my wrists to his and led me out through the back kitchen door and into the back of the diner where his SUV was parked.

“What the fuck, Sutton,” I said. I couldn’t believe how fast he did all that. And my pie was gone, out of my hands.

“Don’t worry, Kaley,” he said. “I got your special pie right here,” he held it in one hand. “Perfect for a midnight snack.”

“But my purse,” I said. “My coat…”

“I’m not through talking to you,” Sutton said, pushing me into his car, and taking out another handcuff to cuffed my other wrist to the car’s door handle, while he uncuffed the one he had cuffed himself to. “And I’m certainly not going to keep talking right here.”

I began screaming, but he shut the door, muffling my screams. As he sat in the driver’s seat, he turned to me and said, “Trust me, you’ll be glad to spend the night with me instead of a night at Keystone Manor.”

I was suddenly filled with dread. “What do you mean by that, Sutton?” Knowing that Mr. Keystone was murdered and there were dangerous people willing to kill to own Keystone Enterprise. I was worried for Seb, Thomas, and Ash. “Tell me what’s going to happen?”

Sutton said, “Nothing that isn’t well-deserved.”

He started the SUV, and he pulled out of the parking lot, and headed toward the highway.

I struggled against the handcuff on my right wrist, but of course it was no use.

“Stop struggling,” Sutton said. “Relax, I’m not going to hurt you.”

“What the hell is going to happen tonight? Are the Keystones in danger?” I asked. “And you shouldn’t take me away like this. This is kidnapping!”

“Darling,” Sutton said, “since you won’t believe a word I say, I’ll just have to show you.”

Chapter 12

Kaley

Sutton kept his eyes on the road while I seethed in my seat. “What kind of game are you playing?” I finally said, as calmly as possible.

“Who said I’m playing a game, Darling?” He reached over to touch my cheeks, caressing it. “This isn’t a game to me. Protecting the life of the woman I care about isn’t a game at all.”

“I don’t get it, Sutton,” I said. “What are you protecting me from? Why me only? My mother stayed at the Keystone’s house even after I left. If I were in danger there with the Keystones, wouldn’t my mother be in danger as well? Why didn’t you try to get her to quit being their housekeeper? Then I would have moved with her out of the house. But instead, you or whoever it was, cooked up some phony scandal about me and Mr. Keystone having some kind of sordid affair that...”

“I had nothing to do with the video,” Sutton said. “I just found it on Mrs. Keystone’s phone and thought it was you and Mr. Keystone. It was dark and grainy, even Sebastian Keystone thought it was real.”

Now I didn’t know what to believe. “Sutton, if I find out you are still lying to me, I will never ever have anything to do with you. I could never trust you.”

Sutton took a deep breath and said, “I’m coming clean to you right now so you know the truth. That was why I needed to talk to you, even taking you away so I can show you what I found out.”

Flashes of all the horror films I watched over the years flew into my head. What if Sutton was just driving me to the woods so he could have his way with me then dispose of my body? I didn’t even have my phone with me. How dumb was that? I usually wore pants with pockets so I could carry it with me, but my dress didn’t have pockets. My phone was in my purse. And I didn’t have any weapons on me. He was much bigger than me, and so fit and muscular, he could easily overpower me.

So I had to try something else.

“You really care for me?” I asked.

Sutton sighed. “I didn’t want to. It wouldn’t be professional of me, but when I first laid eyes on you, I was a goner. I’ve never fell so hard and so fast for someone like I did with you, Kaley. Honest to God. And not only did I want you so badly, I felt like I wanted to protect you from everything and everyone.”
