Hate on Me (Knights of Retribution, #1)(2)
Author: Elizabeth Knox

The first thing we did when we started the renovations around here was get Gamble and Hart’s place settled. They’re in the three-bedroom ranch style house near the barn. That was the most put together building here on the property. The only thing that needed to be torn out was the tile in the bathroom and the carpets downstairs.

We have a three-story farmhouse with about twelve bedrooms, which is great for us. But a couple are up in the attic and the lighting up there was shit, so we added recessed lighting and all that. Needless to say, since we’ve been here, we’ve been busy as fuck. Sometimes it feels like I’m a construction worker and not a biker, though.

Bending down to grab another piece of shitty ass subfloor from the steps outside the chapel, I chuck it into the dumpster without even looking. “Whoa, what’s with you?” Mammoth questions with a cocked brow.

I wipe my hands on my shorts. “Really? You’re gonna stand there and ask me that question?” He should know why I’m pissed. I’ve been pissed for months now because my ass isn’t in the Ukraine, going after the motherfucker who dared to order the hit on a child. Not just any child, Gamble’s little girl, Ace. Thankfully she had a lifesaving surgery and while things were rough for quite a while, she’s back home now and she’s doing okay.

“Are you about to fuckin’ bring up Konstantin again?” Mammoth growls, glaring at me while he takes off his working gloves. He bends down to pick up a bottle of water and chugs it, holding up his finger which is essentially telling me to not say a damn word ‘cause he’s got some shit to say. “You do realize we’re dealing with enemies at our back door, literally. The Beasts of Brutality know we’re around now. We’ve come across them on numerous occasions and that one piece of shit tried to get into a fight with Ravage at that deli, remember?”

“It’s not a deli, it’s a bagel shop,” I correct him. The best bagel shop in all of Delaware if you ask me. Surf Bagel, fuck, they’ve got the best veggie cream cheese, and I never had a chocolate chip bagel until the day I walked in there. One time I was in there and two of their guys came in, I was standin’ behind one of their bagel chip racks and they didn’t notice me at all which is a blessing in disguise considering we were still learning their territory. The two I did see were close enough for me to read the names on their cuts, Pistol and Duke.

“Whatever, you get the damn point. We only have so many people, brother. I don’t think I need to say we can’t be makin’ quick decisions, especially since we have kids here now.” He’s right, we have to be smarter, but it doesn’t mean we have to forget about those who have done us wrong. I’m ex special-ops, and I’m ready for blood.

“You know, I’m bettin’ a party would calm your asses down. What’s it been? A month since the last one?” Judge speaks up out of nowhere. Shit, I totally forgot he was in the chapel. He comes up to the doorway and crosses his arms over his chest, smirkin’ like the fuckin’ devious piece of shit he is.

Mammoth looks up to Judge. “Well, that might not be such a stupid idea. Needles here needs to get his ass laid. That’ll make him stop bein’ a damn dick.”

“I have no problem gettin’ laid!” I holler over to him.

The man snickers lowly, as Riva walks on over with Dahlia, their daughter, in the weird wrap thing she wears over her chest. In her hands she has a tray with a pitcher of what I believe is lemonade. There are glasses with ice in them too. Thank god Mammoth shacked up with a literal angel. “I figured you boys could use some refreshments.”

“Mammoth, she’s far too good for you.” Judge pushes past us both to head up to Riva, taking the tray from her arms.

“So, what’ve you guys accomplished today?” Riva asks, peering in the chapel a bit. Her eyes go wide when she sees what we’ve done, which is essentially demolish it a bit more.

“Took up the subfloor and we’ll be putting new subfloor down by the end of the day as long as we don’t get heat stroke,” Mammoth tells his ol’ lady.

She slaps his chest playfully. “Stop making jokes like that! It’s not funny anymore. We have a little girl now.”

“God, this is so fuckin’ good. Can you put some liquor in this shit? Fuck, Riva. We need this at the party,” Judge moans after taking a sip of the lemonade.

Riva whips her head around to Judge. “What party?”

“The one I suggested we throw because Needles has a stick up his ass and needs to stick his dick in someone’s ass.”

Riva shakes her head. “I can’t with you guys. I’m gonna go see Gamble and Ace so I’ll mention the party idea to her if you want.”

“That would be fuckin’ awesome, babe,” Mammoth tells Riva, planting a kiss on her lips before she tears away and heads off toward Gamble and Hart’s place.

Chapter Two

She has been through hell. So, believe me when I say, fear her when she looks into a fire and smiles.

Flora

“Did you hear the club’s having a party on Friday night?” Benita asks as she comes into the house we share with the rest of the girls on the porn roster. In total, it’s eight of us. We were lucky enough to get the second biggest house on the property, about five hundred feet away from where the club sleeps. They have one of those big, metal buildings out front that they deem their physical clubhouse, and there’s a small cottage they refer to as the chapel. It’s what they’re renovating right now, saying it should be done in a few weeks or so.

The girls and I managed to coax the guys into making us three bedrooms down in the basement and finish that off before they even started work on their beloved chapel. Before we had our last three bedrooms we were doubling up in the bedrooms, which was fine, but we all need our own space. Our porn studio is in another building that looks almost like what they’ve deemed their clubhouse, but it isn’t such a large, open space. Instead, it’s about four rooms, and one larger room in the middle.

“Hello, earth to Flora,” Benita waves her hand in front of my face.

“What? No.”

Benita, as she takes a seat on the couch beside me, pulls her leg up under her butt and makes herself comfortable. “Mhm, I overheard Gamble saying we’re going to have a visitor too. Something about club business.”

Weird. We don’t really have any visitors come to the club, ever. Then again, we’re not finished making the club what Gamble and the boys want it to be. “Cool, maybe they’ll like to party,” I mutter, not paying much attention. The truth is my relationship with Benita is strained as fuck. Some days I can barely stand being around her whereas others I want to spend the entire day with her. It doesn’t make sense to some people, and sometimes it doesn’t even make sense to me. I know a lot of the reason I hold so much resentment toward her is because of what happened two years ago. The bottom line is she could’ve saved me from experiencing so much pain, but she didn’t. Instead she chose to protect her father, and if it wasn’t for him having . . . having a soft spot for me . . . I wouldn’t have ever gotten out of that place. That horrific place.
