“I can’t bear to be apart from you for too long,” Quade said as he slammed in deep. “I never thought I could have my own family, and even now I can’t imagine how I could be good enough for the Tree of Life.”
“I’m not the Tree anymore,” Caden said with a gasp as Quade pegged his prostate. “Just a regular wood sprite, apparently.” He flexed the tiny bumps on his shoulders. “Even my wings are coming back in.”
“I know. I love feeling those nubs against me as I take you.” He nipped Caden’s throat. “And you’re wrong. You are the Tree of Life, and you always will be. You’ve got a connection to it, and in ten thousand years, when the tree needs to be born again, it’ll call to you.”
“Ten thousand?” Caden sputtered.
“Yup. You are functionally immortal. Which means, as your half soul, I am too. Dandrot told me that when he’s ready to retire, in like a thousand years, he’s going to tap me to take his job.”
“But… I’m not anyone important. I’m just me.”
Quade chuckled. “You’re the Tree of Life. You have a lycan for a mate and a powerful psychic for a son. And we have the most amazing man on the planet as ours.” Quade made another deep thrust, then growled. “As mine.”
And Caden was good with that. The feelings that washed over him as Quade fed another load of come into Caden’s body told him that this was where he was meant to be.
Though the story was done, Caden knew this was where his life was about to begin.
