He nodded.
I wandered off towards my bedroom, thinking about me and Death as an item, giving things a go. I really did like him, a lot, but what if he changed his mind again tomorrow?
Opening my bedroom door, I found the man himself had got there ahead of me.
“That wispy trick of yours is being used to full effect today I see.”
Death looked down at the Big D. “It’s not at all wispy, but it does perform tricks. Especially, now you see it, now you don’t.” He laughed and I was a goner. That rare laugh just intoxicated me. I was drunk on him now and there’d be no going back, no use in trying to protect my heart. It’d had already been claimed. I was a thirsty vampire all right; thirsty for him.
“Aren’t we going to be late for the party?” I queried.
“Depends whether you want to see me perform my magic,” he winked.
I decided then that the village celebrations could wait. I had all of time to get to know the villagers better and I’d be able to watch as they fell in love themselves now.
But for the next hour at least, the party was happening in my pants. It seemed life as a Vampire Queen wasn’t going to be so sucky after all.
