As we climbed into the golf cart, Charlie still cradled firmly against my chest, I nodded with approval. "Raul, you really are the perfect beta. A long time ago, I said I never wanted a pack, but you know what? I was wrong. This is my home now, and wild horses couldn't take you away from me."
Raul simply grinned, bringing two fingers to his forehead in a snappy salute. After a quick peek to make sure we were settled, he backed out and took off again, driving the damned golf cart like he stole it.
As we passed the now-empty fields where the current crop had recently been harvested, I looked out over my pack lands with a grateful heart. Whatever her motivation, the goddess had really blessed me this year.
A perfect pack. An incredible mate. More family than I ever would've expected in this lifetime. And now, a precious princess of a daughter. Yep, I was going to need at least the next fifty or sixty years to count all my blessings.
Which suited me fine. With Charlie at my side, I'd live every one of those years knowing I was the luckiest bastard ever born.
