7th Circle (Hades #1)(5)
Author: Tate James

I came way too soon, faster than I’d ever come before from dick alone, and my climax seemed to push him over the edge as well. He let out a dismayed sort of groan as his cock thickened against my spasming walls, and his hot seed filled me in a couple of hard spurts.

For a moment the only sound within the supply closet was our combined heavy breathing, and he held me there with his dick still buried inside me and his hands on my ass holding me up.

"Hayden..." he whispered in a rough voice after he'd caught his breath. "That was... you're... I..." A panicked look crossed his face as his words all tripped over each other, and I grinned.

Tugging on the back of his neck, I pulled his face back to mine for another long, lingering kiss, and his dick twitched inside me.

"Lucas, that was incredible." I smoothed away the worried crease in his forehead with my thumb. Some of the tension seemed to ease from his face when I said that, and he gently set me back on my feet.

Thankfully, we were in the supply closet, so I grabbed a roll of spare toilet paper to clean up a bit of the mess between my legs before pulling my jeans back on.

"So, uh," he started to say as we both found our clothes once more. As much as I'd have happily gone on to round two—or three—with him, we'd already pushed things a bit far while in public. Not to say we couldn't continue this back at my apartment though. "I feel like a total idiot asking this, but... could I see you again?"

I tilted my head to the side, considering him. There was that innocence again. "Do you have plans for the rest of the night?" I replied with a sly smile.

His brows shot up. "Oh. Oh. I thought... Yeah, I mean, no. I mean I do now? I hope?" His hands went back to my waist, and his neck bent to meet me in another heated kiss. "This is actually turning out to be the best night of my life, I think."

I laughed and swatted him playfully as I stuffed my feet back into my heels. "Come on; my place isn't far."

Again, what the fuck had come over me? I didn't bring guys back to my place. Not even Cass had been to my apartment. Apparently, my subconscious had decided that I was throwing all the rules out the window when it came to Lucas.

I unlocked the closet door, and we exited together as Lucas checked a message on his phone.

"Oh shit," he swore, and I paused to see what the problem was. He looked from his phone back to me. "I got a message from the manager of 7th Circle."

My brows rose, but irritation at his timing curled through my chest. "What did he say?"

"He wants me to come back for an interview," Lucas replied with a stunned smile. "But... he wants me there now. Like now. He asked me to be back there in half an hour, and he sent the message twenty minutes ago."

I ground my teeth together and vividly imagined all the ways I wanted to kill Zed. I told him to reschedule but I sure as fuck didn’t mean tonight. "Well then, we’d better hurry."

Lucas and I hurried out of Murphy's with our hands linked like teenage lovers, and I cut the taxi line, taking the first available. It was only a five-minute drive from Murphy's to 7th Circle, but I was seething that Zed had tried to cockblock me like that.

Well, fucking joke was on him. Lucas was going to make it back for his bullshit interview, and I'd still managed to come harder and faster than in my entire life.

Who said I couldn't have it all?

The manager of 7th Circle—Zayden De Rosa—was personally waiting at the front of the club when our taxi pulled up, and I shot him a sharp glare behind Lucas's back.

He just smiled pleasantly back at me, like the totally infuriating shithead he was.

"Mr. De Rosa," Lucas greeted Zed, totally oblivious to the silent conversation between us. "Thank you so much for reconsidering." He held his hand out for Zed to shake, but my old friend just looked him up and down, then sighed.

"Lucas, right?" he asked, like he didn't particularly care what his name was. "Come this way. We can talk in Hades’s office."

Lucas’s brows shot up in surprise. I instantly regretted getting out of the damn taxi. I should have just dropped him off and continued home. Then again, I was making all kinds of dumb decisions tonight, it seemed.

"Hades is here tonight?" Lucas asked Zed, looking vaguely worried.

Amusement flooded the venue manager's face, and his grin stretched so far across his lips I imagined what it'd be like to cut it fucking off. Prick.

"Oh dear," Zed commented, his tone a step away from actual laughter. "You must be new in Shadow Grove, Lucas."

My new friend frowned slightly, shooting me a confused look before answering. "Yes, I just moved here from Colorado a few weeks ago."

Zed let out a bark of a laugh, shaking his head. "Come on this way." He indicated Lucas should follow him as he headed inside the club once more.

Lucas hesitated, though, looking at me in concern like he didn't want to leave me out there alone while he attended this interview. It was such a sweet display of consideration, and it killed me that all his good qualities would probably be stomped out of his soul before he'd survived a year in Shadow Grove.

I stifled a sigh, ruffling my fingers through my dark red curls. I knew full fucking well what was coming next, and the only reason I'd allow it to happen was because Zed was one of my oldest friends. Still... he'd pay for this later.

"You coming, Hades?" the bastard called out to me, smug as fuck. "Or have you already conducted all the auditioning you need?"

It took a second, but when Lucas clicked the pieces together, I could have died. The hurt and anger that crossed his gorgeous face was almost enough for me to shoot Zed in the fucking kneecap. Mother. Fucker.

Gritting my teeth, I rolled my shoulders and adopted my normal, harsh, resting bitch face once more. "Lucas is here for a front-of-house job, Zed," I snapped, brushing past both men with my spine ramrod straight. "Nothing more. Come along, then."

The skin across my shoulders prickled with Lucas's accusing glare as I led the way through the club and up a narrow set of stairs to my office. I didn't let it affect me though. I couldn't afford to. We'd had a fun night and shared a great fuck. That's where our personal interaction ended. If he wanted this job—and I knew he did—then that was all we would ever have.

I didn't sleep with my employees. Not ever.

Not until tonight.

Dammit. I needed to get my shit together. I was a successful, twenty-three-year-old businesswoman and the head of a crime syndicate. I was a cold-blooded killer and a merciless bitch to anyone who crossed me.

To everyone who'd met me or heard of me in the years since my family's near massacre, I was all of those things rolled into one intimidating, fear-inducing name.

Hades. The leader of the Tri-State Timberwolves.

My office wasn’t anything fancy, just a small room with a desk, two chairs, and some filing cabinets. Hell, it wasn’t even really my office. I only worked on-site for new openings, and when they were on their feet with all the teething pains ironed out—usually around six months after opening—I’d move on to my next project.

It’d been almost a year since we opened 7th Circle, but since I was running into all kinds of setbacks with the next club, I still used my office in the mezzanine of 7th Circle.
