Quinn(46)
Author: Dawn Doyle

“A little self-love?”

“No!” she shrieked, but her face reddened. “I just kept waking up.”

“I’m just kidding, no need to be embarrassed.” I grinned wide, and her eyes rested there. “What are you watching?”

She went back to the screen. “No clue. Just flicking through Netflix.”

“Try How To Get Away With Murder. I hear your mom’s looking for tips on how to bump me off.”

Kinsley deadpanned. “Actually, I love that show, but I’ve watched every episode.”

I stood and walked over to her, holding my hand out. “Remote.” She handed it over, and I flicked to a show that was boring as fuck. “If you can’t sleep, watch this. It’ll knock you right out.”

She patted the space next to her. “First one to fall asleep loses.”

“I don’t think that’s a good idea. If your mom catches us even sitting on the bed together, I’ll be toast, and I’ve got a fight in a few days. I can’t have your mom beating them to it.”

Kinsley’s face fell. “I’m going to win, so there won’t be a problem.”

I watched her through narrow slits. “Is that so?”

She smirked.“I’m stubborn, remember?”

I fucking did. “I think you’ve forgotten that I am too.”

“We’ll see.” She patted the bed again.

I sat down, sinking into the mattress, the covers gathering around me as it took my weight. I kicked off my boots and swung my legs over, then leaned back against the soft, thick pillows, Kinsley’s familiar scent surrounding me. “This is going to be an easy win,” I said, lifting my arms and resting them behind my head. I fake-yawned for good measure, watching it take the desired effect when Kinsley did too.

“No fair, that’s cheating,” she complained around another yawn behind her hand.

I put my finger to my lips. “Shh, it’s starting.”

Kinsley grumbled but stopped talking. She stretched her bare legs out, wiggling her toes, flashing bright orange nails. Her legs were lightly tan, toned, and looked smooth. I locked my fingers together harder than before.

It was only a few minutes into the show when I heard her breathing change, the quick breaths and sharp bursts becoming long and even, her chest rising and falling in a slow, steady rhythm.

“Kinny?” I whispered but got no response. I snorted a quiet laugh. “Lightweight.”

She hummed in her sleep, moving about and inching closer to me, turning on her side. She curled up, her hair flowing behind her on the bed, her shoulder rounded, exposing the tattoo across the skin behind.

Delicate cherry blossom blooming on thin branches, the ink disappearing under the deep-red strap. I pulled my right hand from behind my head and reached over, tracing the petals with my fingertips. Her skin was exactly as it looked, soft, smooth, and warm.

She moaned, wriggling toward me until her face was next to my chest. A long exhale escaped her mouth, the lips I’d kissed a few times, lips that were sweeter than anything I’d tasted in my life.

Kinsley sighed again, and the arm bent in front of her, pushed out, connecting with my side. I stayed put as she reached over me, resting her arm across my torso.

My cock stiffened, the bulge behind my zipper too obvious to even attempt to hide it.

Kinsley’s face slid toward my side, her nose grazing the side of my chest. She inhaled through her nose, then hummed out a long breath.

I watched her sleep for a couple more seconds, then lowered my other arm to stroke the long, shiny strands of hair behind her. My stomach contracted when her fingers bunched, then opened, her palm flat over my stomach. I held my breath as she moved down, down, and I released it when she stopped above my belt.

Jesus fucking Christ, I need to get out of here.

But I couldn’t go anywhere. If I did, she’d wake up, and the look of serenity across her features had me keeping my ass right there, taking the agonizing onslaught of Kinsley Jensen.

As carefully as I could, I slipped my phone out of my back pocket and unlocked my screen. Holding it up, I snapped a photo, the piece of evidence that gave me this win, no matter how much I wouldn’t have cared if I’d lost. With her, right then, I’d already won, even though it didn’t mean a thing.

To her.

Kinsley

“Quinn,” I whispered, the sound of the purr in my voice waking me up. My eyes flew open, and blackness surrounded me, covering my eyes. I snapped my head back and looked up, right into a pair of dazzling eyes, shining down on me as though I’d done something stupid. I think I almost had done, too. If the pulsing between my legs was anything to go by, I was about to vocalize the dream I was having, starring a certain ‘bad boy.'

“Hey, loser,” Quinn said, pumping his brows. “You lasted two minutes.”

My arm was sprawled across his torso, my hand under his shirt, and I snatched it back, but not before I managed to feel every ridge in his stomach muscles. Probably why my dream had gone from zero to scorching in the blink of an eye. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to—”

“It’s fine,” he said, his tone gravelly. “What were you dreaming about?”

“Nothing,” I rushed out, the heat from my core, making it’s way up into my face.

“You said my name.” His brows raised. “And you were smiling. Were you dreaming of my head on a spike?”

“Of course not,” I choked out. I sat myself up and squeezed my thighs together to stop the pain. I could still smell Quinn, he was all over me, refusing to leave me alone so I could calm down from the imaginary fumbling that was still running through my head. His hands on me, stroking over my tattoo, down my spine, over the curve of my ass, the apex of my thighs… My nipples pinched tight as the movie played in my head, his hands cupping my breasts, his mouth on me…

“You were happy about something,” he goaded. “You were all…” he closed his eyes. “Mmmm, ahhh,”

“Oh, my God, just stop!”

He licked his lips. “Were you having sexy dreams about me?”

“No,” I said with way too much force.

His head cocked to the side, studying me. “Were you?”

I screwed my eyes shut in shame, covering my face with my hands. “This is not happening,” I groaned.

Quinn’s fingers brushed through my hair, the gentle touch firing me up all over again. “You’re not denying it, though.”

“Can you just forget it?” I begged. “Pretend I didn’t talk in my sleep?”

“Kinny, you weren’t just talking,” he whispered close to me like he was making fun of my embarrassment. “You were feeling me up.”

I dropped my hands. “What?”I shrieked, then cringed. My face could practically heat the entire town with the furnace burning there. “I don’t believe this.”

The bed dipped, and I looked through my fingers to see him slide down the bed, lying on his side to face me, propping himself up on his elbow. A large hand tried to pull mine away from my face.

“Kinny,” he said, tugging a little harder. “Look at me.”

“I can’t,” I said behind my hands. “It’s too humiliating.”
