Laying It Bear (Fever's Edge #4)(23)
Author: Lynn Hagen

“Oh god.” Sherman whimpered the words as he felt hard muscles locking him in place, stopping him from jerking under Dalton. Firm fingers slid down Sherman’s inner thigh and then using his good hand, he spread Sherman’s cheeks. Dalton’s fingers were wet when they circled Sherman’s intimate opening. One lone finger slipped inside Sherman’s body, and Sherman thought he was going to lose his mind. “Dalton!”

Dalton took Sherman’s cock down his throat, suckling Sherman’s erection like it was his favorite treat. It was all too much. Sherman couldn’t hold back. He shuddered and jerked as an explosion went off inside him. He came hard, his semen shooting down Dalton’s throat as he fought not to scream the man’s name.

Dalton pulled back, but his finger remained deep in Sherman’s body, moving in ways that had Sherman jerking. Dalton leaned down and kissed Sherman’s inner thigh as a second finger entered him. But Sherman was too tired to move. He lay there with his lips parted and his eyes half-closed.

Sherman reached up and gripped Dalton’s shoulders, pulling the man down as he took Dalton’s lips in a desperate kiss. Tossing one leg over Dalton’s naked form, Sherman moved his lower half, pressing his ass onto the man’s fingers, trying his best to make them go deeper.

It might have been the fact that Dalton had just battled with a vampire, the adrenaline, or that Sherman was just plain horny for his mate. Whatever the reason, he needed Dalton inside him.

A bottle of lube appeared on the bed next to Sherman. Dalton coated his cock before he turned Sherman onto his hands and knees. Sherman groaned when he felt Dalton kissing his spine.

Soon he felt the blunt head of Dalton’s cock pressing against his stretched hole, and it was all Sherman could do not to quiver.

“You could’ve died.” Sherman arched into the man, a need so deep filling him. “I was scared out of my mind when I saw those vampires in the backyard.”

“I knew that bastard was lying when he said he came alone,” Dalton said before the head of his cock entered Sherman. “And I had everything under control. I told you, baby. You can’t get rid of me that easily.”

Sherman curled his fingers into the sheet as he expelled a long breath. “Don’t want to get rid of you. Want to grow old with you.”

“Plan on it,” Dalton whispered into his ear. “I love you, sweetheart.”

Closing his eyes, Sherman bit his lower lip. Dalton knew all the right words to say, and Sherman’s heart expanded as he thought of sharing his life with his mate. If Sherman hadn’t been kidnapped the first time, he would have never thought to make Fever’s Edge his home. If that hadn’t happened, he would have never met Dalton, the man who had come to mean everything to him.

Dalton began to move his hips, sinking his cock deeper. Sherman began to writhe under his mate, wanting to feel that sensation over and over again.

Dalton chuckled in his ear. “We better make this quick. The others are waiting on us.”

“They can wait.” Sherman sighed as Dalton’s lips caressed his shoulder, his weight blanketing Sherman’s back. The man’s hips drove harder into Sherman’s ass as waves of pleasure lapped at him. His body bowed at the sensations that were shooting through him.

“We have all the time in the world to take things slow. For now…”

Dalton pulled free and flipped Sherman to his back. He threw Sherman’s legs up and drove his cock back into Sherman’s ass. All Sherman could see were stars. His head swam as Dalton hovered over him, his eyes pools of liquid heat. Never had Sherman seen anyone look at him in that way.

“You are mine,” Dalton stated with a growl, and Sherman could see the tips of the man’s canines.

Sherman cried out when Dalton sank his sharp teeth into his shoulder, his cock exploding as his orgasm tore through him.

Dalton finally released Sherman and licked at the wound before he buried his face in Sherman’s neck, a strangled shout muffled as he came. “You’re so goddamn perfect.”

Fate had known what it was doing. Sherman had never felt so complete. Their lives weren’t perfect, but he would take Dalton any way he could get him. Baggage and all.

Dalton leaned against the kitchen counter as he talked with Sheriff Greeley. Sherman was in the other room fussing over his mother, who had finally been released from the hospital.

“The car wasn’t that great to begin with,” Mitch said, pulling Dalton from his thoughts. “We found it abandoned in a field. Some teenagers probably took it for a joyride because the grass is torn up, like they were doing donuts.”

“I still can’t understand how my mate loved that car so much,” Dalton said with a sigh.

He was buying Sherman a new car. Dalton was glad the car was trashed. The thought of his mate driving that deathtrap scared the crap out of him.

“We have the kids in custody,” Mitch said. “They’re the same ones responsible for the trash fires. They’re all getting community service, and one is being shipped to military school by his parents. I’ll never understand youth and their dumbass decisions.”

Dalton chuckled. “We were both young once, Mitch.”

“Yeah, but I never thought it would be entertaining to set things on fire or steal cars. I’ve got to get them on the right path before it’s too late.”

When Sherman entered the kitchen, Dalton automatically reached for his mate. “How’s she doing?”

Sherman rolled his eyes. “My dad is insisting on taking care of her, though they’ve started arguing already. That’s why they were divorced. My parents make arguing an Olympic sport. I’m glad I won’t be here to see it.”

Mitch smiled. “I’ll let you two handle your business.”

Dalton nodded as Mitch walked out.

“Did he find Betsy?” Sherman curled into Dalton’s side.

It was right where his mate belonged. He was thrilled when Sherman had agreed to move in with him. Sherman was a free spirit, which meant Dalton would have to keep a close eye on him, especially when Payton was in town visiting.

Dalton now saw that those two together spelled nothing but trouble. Even so, Dalton finally felt complete. With Raphael dead, hopefully there weren’t any more hiccups in the road. Dalton wanted a very boring life with his mate.

He hugged Sherman closer, inhaling his mate’s scent. “Yeah, about your car…”
