Fixation(12)
Author: Nicole Dykes

I showed up at eight since she had the lunch shift. I thought she’d already be here, but I’ve searched through the entire campus library and no Elle.

Was she fucking with me?

Something I could see her doing, but how would she know I’d show up? I’ve spent a lot of time perfecting my “don’t give a fuck” persona.

Still, I’m craving another taste of her. Once wasn’t enough.

There she is. She walks in, her hair pulled up in a loose bun, a floral, sleeveless dress with a belt cinched around her waist, thin straps showing off her tanned skin. She looks like she just came from a concert, a canvas tote bag draped over her chest and textbook in hand.

I force myself to stay seated and not run to her like a pathetic, lovesick teenager. Her gray eyes meet mine instantly as if she could feel me watching her, and a slow smile spreads across my face, seeing her irritation.

She walks to stand before me, eyes narrowed and zoning in on me. “Why are you here?”

“Oh, you know me, thirsty for knowledge.”

She clings to the textbook, holding it against her chest. “Right. You don’t even have a book.”

Her head nods to the bare table in front of me. “True.” I look around the library that’s quickly approaching emptiness. There are a couple of students working behind the front desk and a couple of students spread out at tables, but it’s not nearly as busy as it was earlier. My eyes meet hers. “I’m just soaking up the atmosphere.”

“Well, enjoy that.” She heads for the stacks, and it doesn’t take long for my long legs to carry me to her. I follow her through aisles of books all the way to the back of the library as she searches through the books, but I see the silent smile on her lips. She’s enjoying being sought out.

Deep in the stacks, she stops, using her finger to brush over the spines, her lips moving as she reads the titles in her head, and I stop behind her, breathing her in. The smell of her lavender shampoo mixed with the musty scent of old books is somehow intoxicating. “What does all of this education do for you?”

My voice is a harsh whisper in her ear. She doesn’t turn to look at me but also doesn’t move away. “Education offers the possibility of not having to struggle.” Her shoulders shrug. “Maybe if I decide to have children someday, I can help them with their education.”

I’m surprised she brings up children. Inexplicably, a vision of her pregnant, standing before me with that beautiful smile on her mischievous lips, floods my senses, and I forcibly make myself shake it off.

“What are you going to do with your degree?” My finger slides over her bare arm, and I see her shiver at my touch.

“I want to work in publishing. I want to have a say in the next book that’s published.”

A smile overtakes my lips, and I laugh. “Oh, what? The next Fifty Shades of Grey?”

Now she spins on one foot to look up at me. “Don’t ever mock Fifty Shades. That book sparked an entire new breed of readers. People who hadn’t read for years picked up that book and suddenly were craving more. It inspired people to take a chance and write their own books. It opened so many doors.”

She’s clearly passionate, which I secretly fucking love. I’ve never felt that passionate about anything. “Ah, so you’re telling me you like it dirty?” I raise an eyebrow. “I can definitely be a kinky fucker for you.”

She rolls her eyes at me. “You’ve only seen the movies.”

I laugh. “Not even that. I saw a trailer for them once, I think.” I lean in a little closer. “I could have a red room, or gray, or whatever the fuck.”

She snorts a quick laugh. “No doubt. You are fucking ridiculous.”

My hand rests on her hip and pulls her closer to me, my mouth hovering over hers. “I think you like it.”

She pushes back on my chest. “Stop. We’re in a library.”

“Why stop?” My other hand grasps her other hip, pulling her even closer.

“Someone could see. I could get kicked out of school.”

“If that happens, I’ll write them a fucking check.” I can’t help the draw I feel to her, and I don’t give a fuck where we are.

That visibly pisses her off. Her hand lands on my chest, shoving me away. But this time she moves further into the aisle. “I don’t have that option. That’s not the world I live in.”

I grab her hand, pulling her to me and looking into her eyes. “You do now. Someday when you settle,” she looks almost murderous, but her eyes stay on mine, “and that’s exactly what it will be—settling—with some dude who makes you weep from boredom,” my hand grips her chin, holding her in the moment as my thumb sweeps over her bottom lip, “you can think back about the dirty fucker and this memory.”

My hands hold her face as her hands grip my hips, pulling me in, determination dripping from her voice. “I’ll never settle.”

“Yes.” My lips move to hers. “You will.”

My lips smash against her, savoring the taste of her as my tongue sweeps inside, hungry for her. Her hands move under my shirt, floating over my back as we kiss.

My body leans into her with her back smashed against the books. “Tell me no.”

She doesn’t say a word. I knew she wouldn’t. She wants this just as badly as I do. I’m glad she’s wearing a dress. Her lips and tongue war with my own as we go at it in the back of the library. But she shows no fear, lost in the moment.

My hand snakes down over her hip and pulls the skirt up enough to feel her silky thigh. Finding her panties, I trace the length of her slit through the material, making her growl into my mouth and buck forward.

“You want me to fuck you here, surrounded by books?”

She’s panting as her head nods, our noses rubbing together, and my hand moves her panties out of the way to feel just how fucking wet she is for me. I groan as one finger enters her and her nails dig into the muscles of my back.

My mouth moves to her ear as my finger pulls out and then plunges back inside her. “Tell me you want me to fuck you. Right here, right now.”

I watch her throat move with a tight swallow, but before she can answer, both of our heads turn at a snicker one aisle over.

Elle pushes my hand away, pushing her skirt down quickly. “Shit.”

I don’t see anyone, but Elle’s clearly done as she pushes me away, starting to flee, and that’s when we see two chicks the next aisle over as Elle hauls ass out of the library with me on her heels.

When we get outside, I grab her hand, stopping her, but I’m laughing. The high of almost getting caught finger-deep in Elle is one even I haven’t experienced. “What the hell is your problem?”

“Me?” She places a hand on her chest. “We were almost caught. Shit, what if I’d have let it go further?”

I take a step closer to her, releasing her hand, but smirking down at her. “If? You would have definitely let me go further.”

“You’re dangerous!”

I lift a curious eyebrow. “I’m dangerous?”

“Yes.” She lifts her hands in the air in frustration. “I could have gotten kicked out of school. And for what? Dick?” She places one hand on her forehead as if she can’t believe herself. “What the hell was I thinking?”
