Devil's Ride : A Dark MC Boxset(42)

I tense further at the mention of the Alcazar Cartel. The Dragon’s Fire MC had tried to start a war between them, the Diaz Cartel, and the DRMC.

“I want Jackal. His ass is mine,” I snarl.

“Fine with me, just leave the Alcazar Cartel out of it,” Scorch orders, narrowing his eyes on me.

“I’ll only agree to that if you can tell me they didn’t touch my daughter,” I challenge, taking a step forward.

Scorch’s nostrils flare as he also steps forward until we're standing toe to toe. “Even if the motherfuckers had, they’re off fuckin’ limits to your ass,” he growls.

“I’m not playing whose dick is bigger with you. All I want to know is if any of them touched my daughter. If they didn’t touch Corinne, then have at them. If they did, then I’ll be putting my hand in the pot to get the man or men who thought it was okay to buy a little girl who’s not even five months old,” I sneer.

Scorch and I stare each other down for a brief moment in time. When he finally steps back, he’s smirking. “You know, I could get along with you if I actually was looking for friends, but unfortunately for you, I’m not,” he says.

“Same, now hand over Jackal and my daughter,” I mutter.

Lifting a hand, Scorch motions to his men, who move to the back of the SUV. A moment later, Jackal is thrown to the ground in front of me. “What are you going to do with this shit for brains?” Scorch asks.

“Don’t worry, he’ll suffer before he dies,” I say as I kick Jackal in the head. “That’s just the beginning, Jackie boy. You fucked up. Blaze, put him in the back of the truck and secure him so he can't be seen.”

“Now you can have your daughter,” Scorch smirks before turning to the SUV. As he pulls her out of the vehicle, I move, stalking across the space between us and taking my daughter away from Scorch. “Try not to let her get kidnapped again. I won’t be there the next time. She is after all a beautiful girl and you wouldn’t want someone to damage something so innocent,” Scorch mutters.

Hugging Corinne to my chest, I kiss the top of her head. “Dove, I’ve missed you so much. I need to get you to your momma now,” I murmur, gaining a babble out of her.

Glancing up, I meeScorch’s gaze and stick out my free hand. “You have a marker with the club. If you ever need anything, give me a call,” I say firmly.

Nodding, Scorch takes my hand for a brief shake before releasing it and heading back to his bike. “I’ll hold you to that marker, but let’s just say don’t wait for my call,” he calls out over his shoulder.

Corinne’s babbles draw my attention back to her. “You ready to go home?” I ask knowing I’m more than ready to go home and make things whole again.

Chapter Thirty-Three

Rachel

This morning, I woke up feeling better than I have all week. The pain from all the bruises is fading every day. My leg, on the other hand, will be in a cast for a while. However, I’m not about to let that stop me from getting out of this room today. I’ve about had it sitting here with my leg propped up and playing with Luca on this bed.

No, I needed a change of scenery. I’d gotten myself ready, then Luca. Grabbing my phone, I text Shadow, asking him if he’d come help me get Luca to the main room of the clubhouse. I’m sure if I tried to go outside, all the guys would stop me, so the main room it is, at least for now.

Soon as Shadow came to the door, he grabbed the diaper bag and Luca while I hobbled on my crutches after them. Once I get situated at a table, I’ll see if one of the guys would grab some of the items from the playroom for Luca.

Stepping into the main room, a smile crosses my face as I see Momma B sitting at a table directing Bear and a few of the other guys in positioning baby equipment around the room.

As we approach the table, Momma B glances my way and smiles. “You know, I was just about to come get you,” she says.

“Well, it’s a good thing I decided to come down, huh?” I laugh.

“Shadow, why don’t you put Luca in his bouncy seat,” Momma B orders as I round the table to sit near the bouncer.

“Thank you,” I mumble, taking the diaper bag from Shadow and setting it down next to me. Turning to meet Momma B’s gaze, I ask, “Are you okay?”

“Sweetheart, if I had a dollar for every time I’ve been asked that this past week, I’d be able to go get my nails done or a new tattoo,” she jokes. A minute later, she stops laughing and gives me a sincere look. “I’m okay. I’ve not only had Bear here at my beck and call, but Rage has called at least four to five times a day and the girls, well, they all call throughout the rest of the day.”

I smile, though it’s hard to keep it in place. To have so many people calling to make sure you're okay and to check up on you sounds wonderful. Besides the few sporadic texts and the nightly calls from Stoney, no one has really checked on me. Tracker came by, but it’s not like he stayed for longer than he had to. Same with the rest of the guys.

“That’s good. They’ve all called to check on you,” I say.

“Yes, I suppose. But there’s only so much attention this woman can take. I am not one for being the center of attention like some of the clubwhores who come through the revolving door,” Momma B chuckles.

“Oh God, I don’t even want to think about the attention those women demand. Better yet, maybe I should take Luca to the playroom or back to the bedroom. Those attention getters love to be exposed in more than one way and spread their germs all over the place, if you know what I mean. ‘Cause no offense to any of the women who enjoy what they do, but who the hell wants to flaunt their titties and va-jay-jay all around? It’s like saying ‘here I am, I’m a walkin’ talkin’ sex toy, have your utmost way with me and then send me on my way’.” I shiver at the thought of two clubwhores in particular.

Laughter booms around us as I stop my rant. Oh, crap, I must have said that loud enough for everyone close to hear.

Damnit.

“Damn, Ray, I think that’s the weirdest analogy for talking about the clubwhores,” Nerd chuckles as he comes and drops in the chair next to me. “How you feeling?”

“Ugh, okay, I guess. Have you heard from Stoney yet today?” I ask. Normally, I have a text by now and considering it’s almost noon, I’m all worried, I guess you can say.

“No. I’m sure he’ll be callin’ soon,” Nerd says somberly.

I nod my head as I look from Nerd down to my little boy. God, I wish Corinne were here right now. I don’t know if she is hurt, hungry, or anything. I do know in my heart she’s still alive. Even if it’s because she’s being used as a pawn to gain money.

What is it with people and money? Always with greed. Isn’t there a saying in the Bible or something about thou shall not take what isn’t mine?

“Do not wear yourself out to get rich. Do not trust your own cleverness. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle,” Shadow says from where he’d been standing behind Luca.

“I don’t understand,” I utter, furrowing my brows.
