Devil's Ride : A Dark MC Boxset(5)
Author: E.C. Land

“Fuck this club has dealt with enough shit due to cults. Want me to call Twister to see what all he has to say about how they operate? Maybe Hades?”

“Call Hades. He has the most experience with this shit. I’ll be there in about four hours and calling for church,” I tell him before disconnecting the call. He knows me well enough to know what I’ll expect when I get in.

The fact this shit is happening in my own backyard doesn’t sit well with me and I know without a doubt it’ll only get worse before getting better. Seems to be the way of this fucked up world.

Getting to the clubhouse, I’m fuckin’ exhausted. As much as I’d wanted to stop for coffee, I needed to get to the club and fill the rest of my brothers in on what I heard, as well as find out what Nerd found out.

Stretching my legs, I take off my helmet and run my fingers through my hair. It’s gotten longer than I’m used to wearing it, preferring to keep it shorter. As I climb off my bike, I strut into the club with the intention of heading straight for church only to come to a stop at the entrance.

What the fuck is going on here? Two of the clubwhores are in the midst of rolling around on the floor fighting.

“Someone want to explain this shit to me,” I demand, yelling across the main room, gaining everyone’s attention, including the two whores on the floor.

“Stoney,” Cherry Pie yells in excitement as she gets off Summer, who I’m surprised to see here. Normally, she’s asleep this time of day since she works at our strip club on the outskirts of town.

“Not now,” I snap as she starts to amble over to me.

“But I just wanted to welcome you back,” she purrs. Any other time I might take her up on the offer, but right now I ain’t got the time for it.

Without giving her the attention she wants from me, I stalk toward the room where we hold church, and pull my cell phone out of my pocket as I go. Unlike Twister’s clubhouse I haven’t rigged this room up with a jammer for our phones and so we leave them in a basket outside of the room.

The rest of my brothers follow suit, taking their places at the table. Once everyone is in their seats, I slam the gavel down on the table. All eyes are on me as I relay the information I learned and glance over at Nerd. “Were you able to find anything?” I ask.

“I think I might have. Over the last year, at least two girls have gone missing from a few of the college campuses and all within months of each other. Now I don’t know about you, but that ain’t a coincidence if you ask me. But, that’s not all. There was another report made about a month ago. A stripper over in Lynchburg went missing only to turn up days later in James River by the Heritage Trail,” Nerd says before sliding a file across the table toward me. “You might want to bring Summer in here for a quick chat with all of us. Last night when she finished her shift, she’d seemed really spooked but didn’t want to talk to anyone until she spoke with you. I don’t know what’s going on with her, but after looking into this shit . . . I’d like to make sure what’s bothering her doesn’t involve this.”

Nodding, I turn to Blaze, “Grab Summer, let’s see what she has to say. If it’s relevant to this, I’d prefer to know now instead of later.”

Doesn’t take Blaze long to retrieve her. “You're not to sit in one of these chairs,” Blaze snaps at her.

“I’m sorry,” she squeaks, nearly jumping out of her skin. Immediately, I know something is up ‘cause that isn’t her character. It’s out of the ordinary for her to be so jumpy. Summer’s always been a bitch to those around her. The only reason anyone keeps her around is because of the money she brings in for the club.

“Tell me what’s going on,” I demand.

“I . . . um . . . I overheard some things during my shift last night at Dolly’s Playhouse,” she says with widening eyes.

“What did you hear?” Tracker asks her gently.

“There were these men, I’d never seen them before but they’d been dressed like those people you see going door to door carrying bibles or something like it,” she says.

“You mean Jehovah’s Witnesses?” Tracker suggests.

“Yeah, I suppose that’s what they’re called. Anyways, I’d been doing my rounds when I stopped at their table to offer a lap dance to any of them, but they didn’t want it. Told me to go the fuck away and wash my sins away before they did it for me.” By the time she gets through, she’s shaking at the threat she’d received. “I don’t know what they meant, but I don’t want to know. It gave me a weird feeling.”

“Fuck,” I mutter. “Nerd, go check the security cameras to see what you can find on them. We need to talk to the rest of the girls to see if they heard anything. Make sure no one’s missing,” I state, slamming the gavel down and storm out of the room.

Grabbing my phone, I pull up a number I didn’t intend to use this soon.

Pressing send, I wait for her to answer. “What do you want, Stoney?”

“Looks like you best get your ass down here, Sugar. Got something you're gonna wanna see for yourself,” I growl into the phone.

“Got it. I’ll be there in twelve or so hours,” she says before hanging up on me.

Fuck, guess we’ll be putting this alliance to the test.

Chapter Six

Boss

In all my time making long trips, I’ve never taken a straight shot from one city to the next. Queens to Stonewall Mills is a little over seven hours away, but with the D.C. traffic it added two hours onto our trip. That even gave me a couple hours to spare in the twelve-hour window I gave Stoney earlier today.

I didn’t tell Stoney, but I never planned on coming alone. If I did, Omen would’ve lost his shit on me. He always makes it a point to reiterate that it’s dumb for us to both be at the same place, at the same time, whenever we’re out on runs together. Almost like he thinks I’m not the Prez or some shit. Even now, I can’t help but roll my eyes. I decided to take Ricochet with me since he’s already on good terms with the Devil’s Riot MC, and Venom because she’s observant as fuck and can spot something shady from a mile away. It’s part of the reason I like her so much.

Stoney had texted me the address to his club so we went straight there. The only downside is I just got back to the club and sat my ass down when Stoney called me.

We head down a long, dirt road with trees lining both sides. After a five-minute drive, we’re still not near the clubhouse and we all come to a stop. Venom tears off her helmet. “Are we even close?”

“This is the address he gave me,” I declare after taking my own helmet off. I scan my eyes along past the trees and look as far as the eye can see, but the only thing in my view is more trees. I slide my helmet back on and continue onward. Within a moment, I hear Venom and Ricochet following suit. It must be two miles down the road when we come to a clearing where the dirt road spans off to the left and right with a structure in the center.
