King (Redemption Ink #1)(5)
Author: Flora Madison

“Oh God, King.” My strong woman whimpers weakly. “I’m coming.”

Her lips pulse against my mouth, sending another wave of hot wetness from her opening. I lap it up like it’s my last meal, happy to please my woman this way. Once Ronnie’s breath returns to normal, I kiss my way up her stomach. To my surprise she pulls my mouth into hers, tasting herself on me, no doubt.

“You’re very good at that.” She runs her fingers down the side of my face. “Let me repay the favor.” Her body begins squirming south, but I catch her by her wrist.

“No, Ronnie.” A wounded look crosses her face. “Not now.”

“Why?”

“Because if I don’t bury myself deep inside of you right now.” My teeth rake against her bottom lip. “I’ll go insane.”

His words send chills erupting all over my body. I’ve never been with a man like this, so giving and eager. I relinquish control as he gently pins my wrists over my head. “You’ll tell me if there’s anything you don’t like,” he says with hooded eyes. Again, chivalry at the forefront of everything he does.

“King, I have a feeling I won’t have to.”

His lips twist into a devious smile before he presses them against my own once more. His tongue provides the perfect amount of pressure and ease. My wetness gathers with each gentle stroke. He pulls away briefly and grabs a condom. It’s a relief that he knows it’s imperative with me. Desire is great, but so is safety.

Once he’s back on top of me, he slowly guides himself to my opening. I suck in air through my teeth. When I saw what King was packing, I knew he’d have to work his way in. I didn’t expect it to feel like it’s the first time I’ve ever done this. He stretches me, and it hurts so good. I feel new, born again. Like my past never existed. Like nothing existed before King.

My fingernails rake against the stubble on his chest as I stretch once more to accommodate King’s massive size. “You okay, baby?”

“I’m fucking great,” I growl, running my fingers up the side of his arms until I reach those inhuman trap muscles of his. I will myself to relax, and let him get all the way in. All I have to do is take in his glorious muscular form and my natural lube comes pouring out of me again, allowing him to press further, further, and finally King’s all the way in.

I can’t tell if I’m laughing or crying, but with every stroke, every pump our bodies dance together. Two people become one in the darkness of his apartment. It’s understandable that soon, he leans forward and growls in my ear, his voice pinched. “Ronnie I can’t hold it. You’re too fucking much.”

“Let it go, King. Let it all go.”

My fingers grip the back of his neck, pulling him closer to me as he grunts upon release. My own body responds in a wave of pulsating jerks, an itch deep inside I didn’t know needed scratching. When it’s over, he lays on me exhausted, and tears run down the side of my face. Embarrassed, I swipe them away before he has the chance to see the emotional toll this has taken on me.

Minutes pass, maybe an hour, and when King rolls off of me he lays on his side and brushes the wet strands of hair away from my face. “Can I ask you something?”

“Of course.” My voice comes out a whisper.

“When you said I was nothing like your daddy, what did you mean?”

I furrow my brow. “Are you searching for compliments? Come on, me climaxing twice isn’t enough for you?”

He smiles and my heart melts. This man couldn’t hurt a fly. Not like my daddy. “Just tell me what you meant.”

“You know what he did, right?”

“I know he killed two people, but why?”

I haven’t talked about this in years. Everyone I’m around at this point is either family, and what’s left of my family’s also in prison for various things. “Because they challenged him,” I finally say. “His reputation. I don’t know the whole story, and I’m not sorry to say that I don’t want to know every detail there is.” I take a deep breath, and King trails his finger down the bridge of my nose. “From what I know, someone accused him of being weak. Of not being able to take care of his own. He got mad as hell, like he always did, but this time he’d had enough. He stabbed both of those guys and killed them nearly instantly.”

“That’s awful.” King’s eyes sparkle, a shining beacon in the deep blue dark. “I’m sorry that happened to you.”

The tears threaten to spill once more. “It’s not your fault. Hell, it’s not mine, either.” I twist my mouth, and lose the battle wetting the pillow behind my head. “Therapy helped me reach that conclusion after mom died while he was incarcerated.”

I try and breathe, but my next inhale is muffled by King’s strong chest as he pulls me on top of him. His strong arms hold me and I gather myself, still not ready to let go of all this pent up emotion around someone who could potentially turn out to be like him in the long run. Maybe not a cold, hard criminal, but the statistics are real. Going back to jail for an ex-con is a common occurrence.

“You’re a strong woman, Ronnie.” King lifts my chin, and I meet his eyes. His lips press gently against mine and I try to shake the image from my head. One that’s been haunting me since the second I locked eyes with King. A vision of myself at home while the man I love is back behind bars.

The image dissipates when King pushes himself inside of me once more. Tonight I will enjoy this. Especially when a stable future with an ex-convict is anything but certain.

My eyes flutter open, morning light pooling across them. I blink back the first good night’s sleep I’ve had since getting out of prison. I slept so hard that it takes a second for me to realize why I’m so relaxed. Last night comes back in a series of flashes. Ronnie at the restaurant reaching out for my hand. Kissing her deep and hard. Laying her in my bed and riding out our desires to completion together. A smile plays on my lips, but it fades just as quickly when I roll over and find a vacant spot in the bed next to me. Ronnie is gone.

I rub my eyes, hoping maybe she’s in the kitchen or just using the bathroom. The stillness of my place tells me otherwise. I wrap the sheets around me and survey the space, but as I expected I find no trace of her. I swallow back a wave of disappointment.

After I slip on a pair of boxers, I head into the kitchen and make some coffee, my brain jumbled with all of the reasons she could’ve left without saying goodbye. Getting involved with her, I knew she was complicated, to say the least. But I thought we had a solid connection last night. At least I know exactly where to find her. When you share a night like we did, a few answers aren’t too much to ask for.

The shop is already bustling by the time I make it in, which is to be expected since I took my time. I had to piece together my thoughts. All three of the other guys are busy with clients as the door chimes overhead. Ronnie’s eyes remain trained on her laptop, but her shoulders rise slightly, enough for me to notice. I feel tuned into her every move now.

“Boss!” Titus yells out, looking up from his client. The other guys murmur their hellos, knee deep in custom ink. I nod back before turning to my woman.
