While that kitchen area had a large window and a good amount of sun coming in, the storage room had a large double door to the back parking lot. I figured this was for larger meat drop off and pick up.

“Where does Chuck sleep?” I asked, not seeing any real area for the cat.

“Ah, let me show you...” He took me back to the office, where he pointed under his desk, and I peeked my head in. A large cat bed with toys and his food and water were placed there. It looked very comfortable. “Chuck has a concealed litter box in the bathroom, which is that door off the back corner of the storeroom. If you didn’t know what it was, you’d never question it,” he said with a wink. “It has a small shower too, in case I need to clean up before leaving. The butcher business can be messy sometimes.”

“This is my first time getting a behind-the-scenes tour of a butcher shop,” I admitted.

“And was it to your liking?” he asked.

“Exceeds expectations!” I smiled and held tighter to his hand. “Will you show me what’s in your little freezers?”

"Of course." We went back to the storeroom and he showed me how he had lots of things ready for pick up. Jack Baxter had some pork to pick up and that was what he was finishing in the kitchen, while Sally from Honeycomb Acres had some beef ready and the rest of her order was in the fridge room.

“Sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you,” I said.

“Yep, pretty typical.”

“Can I sit here?” I asked before sliding up and sitting on top of one of the large freezers. His nod gave me permission and I wanted him in between my legs like he was in the kitchen the night before.

"This is all kinda fast and super new," I said, "And I'm not sure what to do other than just go with it and see where it takes us."

Drake followed my lead and came closer, standing directly in front of me, parting my legs around his waist. If my skirt had hiked up a few more inches, he would’ve had a full view and then some.

"I like the way you think. And know that this is not typical for me either." He reached up and put his hands around the sides of my neck, pulling my face to his. One thing was for certain, when Drake kissed me, he meant it. I could feel his kiss from my lips all the way to my toes. He pulled me to the edge of the freezer, making it easier to wrap my legs around his waist.

When he pulled away and we were both breathing hard and kissed silly, he kissed my neck and rested his head on my collarbone for a minute.

“We will revisit this very spot, I promise you that,” he said. “But Chuck is telling me there is a customer outside the door, so I’m going to have to go out front and give you a rain check on this little rendezvous.”

“Fuck,” was all I could manage to whisper. This man worked me the hell up.

“Later, Cutie. Later.”

Chapter Sixteen

Drake

Chuck chatting when someone was at the door was helpful, but oh so annoying at that moment in time. I knew for certain though that I did not want to start getting a reputation with my doors closed for normal workdays. And when I went back out front, Jack Baxter was the last person I wanted to see.

I unlocked the door for Jack and turned the sign back to the open side while Aggie was milling around the store.

“Hello Jack, come on in,” I said and held the door for him. “Your order isn’t quite finished yet, but I should have it by the end of the day.”

"Oh, that's fine, I was around, meetin' up with the boys, and wanted to grab a pack of jerky. I'll come back later to get the meat," he said. "Who's your friend?"

“Jack, this is Aggie Crawford...she’s new in town and will be working for the newspaper starting Monday. She came by to fill up her new freezer and I took the liberty of giving her a quick tour.”

There you go, Corbin, that’ll tell him why the door was locked and maybe he wouldn't question the girl being in my back room. Not that I cared what Jack thought, but I didn’t want him thinking she might have seen something.

“This gal has never seen a walk-in fridge before, can you believe that?”

“Nice to meet you, sir,” she said and reached out to shake his hand. I was the only one who caught her little wince when he squeezed the cut on her hand. He didn’t even notice.

“Jack’s Farm is Poison Ivy Acres, just down the road a piece,” I explained. “He has mostly cattle and hogs, right?”

“Yep, that’s right. This spring we built coops and have a mess of chickens now too...speaking of which, I’ll start having eggs for you soon if you want them, Drake.”

"That would be great...can barely keep fresh eggs stocked around here," I told him. We went over to the register and he paid for his jerky.

"You say Miss Aggie here was needing you to fill up her freezer?" Jack asked, which was a bit unlike him to inquire about anything outside his own matters.

“Sure am,” she answered for herself.

“Why don’t you load her up with whatever she’d like from the hog you’re dressing for me? You know my freezer will be stuffed plum full anyway and it would be our way of welcoming her to town.”

“That’s very kind if you, Jack. Aggie, sound good to you?”

"I appreciate that, sir. I'm just amazed at how kind the people of Hazenberg have already been and I've barely been here a day," she said. Aggie was a sweet girl. And I had fantasies of seeing just how sweet she'd be in my bedroom.

Jack finished up and headed out, and I told Aggie I needed to get back to finishing up his order. He'd be back later to pick it up and I wanted it done.

“If you want to come back here for a little and pick out the meat you want, you can,” I said. “But you’ll have to put your hair up and put on an apron.”

She pulled some sort of hair contraption from her pocket, which I thought was interesting seeing as how I didn’t realize her dress had pockets, and she put her hair up in one of those messy bun things again. It made my dick hard just watching her. I had a clean apron hanging up and I tied it around her before we went back to the kitchen.

"Hey, Drake?" she said, getting my attention. "Can I have another band-aid too?" She held her hand out and the cut had broken open again when Jack shook her hand. Even though he didn't even realize he did it, the idea of someone hurting her infuriated me. I had to hone my temper so she wouldn't see how upset it made me.

“Oh, Cutie. Of course, let’s get you fixed up...again.” I ran a little peroxide over it because, well, who knew where Jack's hands had been, dried it up, and put a new bandage over it. “I dare say, you may want to refrain from shaking hands for a bit.”

“I dare say you might be right.” She reached over and kissed my cheek. As I was putting the first-aid kit away, I noticed she was looking around the kitchen.

“If any of this ever grosses you out, just tell me...” I didn’t want her to be squeamish, and my profession was not glamorous.

“So far so good,” she said and gave me a thumbs up. I took her into the storeroom first to let her pick out what she wanted that had already been cut and was already in the freezer.

“You like pork barbecue?” I asked and she nodded. “I’ll get you a small roast and teach you how to make it. Bacon? Ham? Pork belly?”
