Possessed by Passion(433)
Author: Bella Emy

“Whoa!” Kass yelled.

“My sister is not the enemy, and if you keep this shit up, I’m going accept the title and then have you both killed!” she yelled.

I turned to face her, and her expression said it all. She was furious and completely serious.

I turned back to Colt. “Keep your mouth shut,” I spat before turning and walking out of the room.

I had to do damage control then. The king knew. He knew that she knew something was up, and if I didn’t cover up his story then, every demon in Hell would know the truth.

I walked down toward my room and saw two men standing at the end of the hall.

“Gentleman...” I said walking over to them.

“Someone wants to see you.”

I shook my head. “No can do. Sorry.”

“I don’t think you get a choice.”

“I don’t think you hear me. I said no. I have things to do. If he wants to see me, he can bring his ass topside and come get me.”

They disappeared, and I just stood there staring out the window at the end of the hall. How the hell did everything get so jumbled up that the demons in Hell believed that the joker downstairs was the actual king.

I knew that we kept it a secret for a reason, but this wouldn’t be able to stay a secret for long, and once more demons found out the truth, Kass’s life would be more in danger.

I turned and went back to my room.

I WALKED OUT OF THE bathroom, fully dressed to Roderick standing and staring out of the balcony window.

“Sir,” I noted.

“She knows something,” he said without even turning to face me.

I nodded. “All she knows is that you are stepping down when you shouldn’t. She has no idea you plan to pull her mother into another dimension and live eternity with her.” I sighed. It felt good to say it out loud even though it was just to him.

“I also suggest you come clean down there though. I know you’ve had this guy pretending to be you for centuries, but he’s letting it go to his head and honestly, I think demons need to know the truth.”

“You’re right. But I can’t do that until I know for sure that Kassandra will take my spot. I have to have someone ready to take the place before I can kick him out of whatever position he thinks he has,” he explained as he turned to face me.

“You realize he has a bounty on your daughter.”

He nodded. “I do. I’ve figured this would happen eventually. That’s why I gave you the okay to bring her down here. Here I can protect her. I know witches and vampires who are more than happy to fight with me. But they won’t leave this city.”

I cocked my head to the side.

“This city is where their power is. It’s like a power station for them. They are most powerful here.”

“And what about Kass? Is she most powerful here too?”

He shrugged. “That is a possibility.”

I nodded. “Alright, well we need to figure something out quickly because I just got a visit from two demons that Jacky boy down there has as he’s right hands.”

“Okay. In the meantime, keep an eye on her. And her sister. She will be devastated if anything happens to her sister.”

“I will,” I said as I watched him fade into the air.

I headed back to the girls’ room, and Colt answered the door.

“I just got a few nice visits.” I huffed and walked past him into the room. I turned to face him.

“Two demons from Hell showed up and threatened me. Jack really has let this power go to his head. Oh, and Roderick showed up.” I shook my head.

“Well we should just add to those issues.” Colt sighed.

I turned around and only saw Lela sitting on the bed.

“Where’s Kass?” I asked.

“Well after you stormed out of the room, she left. She said she had some stuff to figure out,” Colt answered.

“And no one thought to stop her? Or follow her? Or go with her?” I questioned through gritted teeth.

“She’s an adult. What do you expect us to do?”

“I expected you both to keep her safe when I’m not around!”

“Dude, chill.” Colt sighed.

“I can’t chill. I promised Roderick that I would keep her safe. And you know what happened the last time a demon promised to keep someone Roderick cared about safe!” I yelled.

Lela looked between Colt and me.

“What?” I could see the light turn on in her head. “Oh.” She sighed.

“Yeah. So, excuse me for being a little worried about your sister.”

“Look, Kass is a pretty badass witch. It will take a bit to take her down,” Lela said.

“That’s not really the point. She could be the queen of Hell. She needs to keep her guard up and stay with those who are sent to protect her.”

“She never actually agreed to that though. And honestly, I’m happy about it. I don’t want her to be the queen of Hell. If so, I lose my sister to your lot.”

“Whoa.” Colt huffed.

“You won’t lose her,” Roderick’s voice came just before he appeared.

“What do you mean?” she asked standing up from the bed.

“I mean, you will always have access to her. I would never put her in a spot where she couldn’t be with you or anyone else on Earth that she cared for. You can visit her any time you wish and vice versa.”

“But how?” Lela breathed.

“Simple. I would give you that ability.”

I nearly fell off my own two feet. I have never heard about the king of Hell giving any of his abilities to anyone.

“How is that possible?” I blurted out.

Roderick didn’t face me, he stared at Lela.

“I would give her that specific power of mine. I won’t need it where I’m going, and Kass loves her sister. She would want you to have that. Kass can already do that, she just hasn’t tapped into all of her demonic powers yet.”

I looked at Colt who looked just as shocked as I did.

“Where is she?” Roderick asked.

“She needed some air. She’s fine,” I replied quickly.

He nodded. “If you need me, Lela, I’m there for you too. I know your father is a warlock and not fond of me, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to hold it against you. Your mother loved you both more than anything.”

And once again, he was gone.

Lela stood, frozen in place.

“We should probably find her,” Lela said grabbing her purse and heading for the door.

She pulled it open and screamed before slamming it shut.

Colt and I were both over to her in seconds.

“What?” he asked.

“Lela! Open this damn door right now!” the voice yelled from the other side.

“Who is that?” I asked.

“My father...” she whispered.

Colt and I looked at each other and pulled her back as quietly as we could until we were in the bathroom.

“We can’t be here,” I said.

“Well we aren’t leaving Lela with him either!” Colt demanded.

She shook her head. “He’s here to kill Kass.”

“What?” I exclaimed.

“He sent me a text right around the time we got here. Before I knew what, I know now.”
