Yeah, they were that kind of couple. And he wouldn’t change one damn thing about them.
He walked into the suite’s second bedroom and gazed out the window, taking in the city. The sight of skyscrapers no longer sent his anxiety skyrocketing.
“We made it, Jamie. It doesn’t get any better than this.”
He went around the room, gathering what he’d need during Mabel’s speech, then collected their most valuable possession. Structure and routine served them well in this phase of life, and he grinned as he left the room and headed down the elevator. The production crew had shown them where to go yesterday, and he traveled down the narrow hall to the back of the ballroom. A stagehand opened the door for him, and he adjusted the load in his arms just as the announcer began to speak.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m delighted to welcome our keynote speaker. In her hometown of Elverna, Illinois, she revolutionized marketing and merchandising for the sustainable farm while also supporting philanthropic organizations and scholarship programs. Please give a round of applause for Mabel Muldowney-Horner.”
Mabel took a few steps, then glanced back at him, and their most precious possession, their son, cooed with delight. His heart nearly burst with pride as he watched his wife take the stage.
And he saw all of her—every part.
He saw the girl, laughing as she ran through the fields and the woman who owned him, body and soul. He saw trips to exotic places and nights spent staring up at a sea of fireflies back on the farm. The forever he’d never dreamed possible now lay before him. The light caught the letter M at her neck, and he was home.
He raised the child’s little arm. “That’s Farm to Mabel. Isn’t she something? Wave to mommy, Jamie!” he said to their son as Mabel blew them both a kiss before continuing into the spotlight.

Inside Scoop + Acknowledgments
When I told my husband I was going to write a book titled Farm to Mabel, he asked me how much I knew about farming.
My answer? Not much.
I’d recently watched a documentary on sustainable farming, and it got me thinking, what if I added some sexytimes to the mix? I mean, who doesn’t love a hot, brooding farmer?
But I needed help on building my farming knowledge. Luckily, I have a terrific reader group. I put up a post asking for guidance and input and, holy haystacks! These women cake through!

Now, I have to disclose something quite personal. I am terrible at editing my books. I miss words. I change tenses. I’ve accidentally typed a grocery list into the manuscript. Thank goodness I have Tera, Carrie, and Marla. The eagle-eyed editors make every chapter sparkle and shine.

I came up with Farm to Mabel after watching a few sustainable farming documentaries, but it was my husband who came up with Horn of Plenty.
One afternoon, we went for a walk, and he asked how Farm to Mabel was coming along and if it was going to be a series. At the time, I didn’t know this was going to be a duet, and I told him it was a standalone. He laughed and said, “If you ever decide to write a dirty Thanksgiving book, you could call it Horn of Plenty.”
We laughed our asses off at that. I nearly peed my pants. I think the other people walking the trails thought we were insane.
Well, fast-forward a few weeks, and I realized this book was going to be a duet.
Boom!
The hero’s last name changed to Horner, thanks to a suggestion from my dear friend SE Rose, and book two became Horn of Plenty.
