Namesake (Voiders #1)(30)
Author: Marie Harte

“No problem. My lips are sealed.” Vicki’s excitement was catching. Her eyes lit up like gold coins. “Mind if I ask why you’re helping me?”

“No.”

Vicki shrugged. “Suit yourself.”

“Just…” Let it go, Kate. Don’t show the enemy your weak spots.

“Just what?” Vicki asked softly and touched Kate’s hand.

Kate felt a ripple over her guer, a need to share her most basic desire. At that moment, Vicki looked like the answer to all her problems. The Conduit’s eyes grew brighter. “Just don’t take Logan or Jesse with you when you go.”

Vicki smiled in understanding. “Ah, I see. No problem.”

“And no more kissing them. No more sex.” Kate couldn’t stop herself.

“Gotcha.” Vicki paused. “Can you help Sean leave with me?”

“Diana is enamored. She genuinely loves your cousin. She won’t part from him.” Kate couldn’t understand it. Sean Morely was human. What did her sister see in him? What did her packmates see in Vicki besides a beautiful, stubborn, sexy woman? She contained the urge to growl again.

“Crap.” Vicki fell silent, and the glow in her eyes faded as she stepped back. “You know, I’m exhausted. Wake me up when the others return, would you?”

She fell into the bed and was asleep in seconds, leaving Kate confused, frustrated and strangely enough, relieved.

Perhaps there was something to the strange human lying on her prime’s bed.

Chapter Twenty-Six

“You saw her?” Nev asked as he stroked the hair of the cur servicing him. He spread his legs wider and arched into the warm suction of a wet mouth.

“Mm-hmm.” Will seemed fascinated by Nev’s new sex toy.

“And?”

“Eric definitely claimed her. His scent is all over her. He’ll have to make the announcement soon. I don’t know how he’s kept it quiet, but there’s no rumbling of the news in the pack yet.”

“Interesting.” Arousal flared as his new pet licked the underside of his shaft and nicked his glans. “Good, boy. Again,” he murmured as the male blew him like a pro.

“What do you want me to do now?” Will asked, breathless.

“The meeting with Chen went as expected?”

“Yeah. He said if we find his stupid ring, he’ll slaughter as many Savages as we want. And he’ll lead more Watchers to their door. Whatever you want once he has that ring.”

“Good. Chen shows his hand too easily.” Too bad. Nev had thought more of the man, but an attachment to a physical object? Pathetic.

The cur between his feet sucked hard, and Nev distanced himself from everything but the ecstasy spiraling through him. He unloaded and groaned, clutching the dirty hair of the young male before him. An unseasoned warrior, but a tremendous cocksucker all the same.

Once spent, he rasped, “Enough. Go.” He watched his cock fall from the cur’s mouth before he scampered away. “Will, what did you think of Eric’s human?”

“She tastes divine.” Will laughed. “I caught a bit of her blood on my finger. Surprisingly sweet for a human. And her energy is addictive. She’s sexy. Nice body, pretty face. Very powerful. She helped that prick Malcolm defeat one of our lower packs. He took out four or five of our men.”

“Pity on the loss but interesting. A Conduit who enhances Ravager power? Might be worth as much as a connection to Chen.”

“Maybe.”

“Let me know when Eric announces his mate to one and all. Before we take her, we need to see how the others react. I’m still hoping they gut him for it.”

“Yes.” Will continued to stare at him, his desire evident.

A rush of excitement stirred his arousal once more. Will was older than his new pet and ten times as vicious. “You in the mood for a little more blood?” Nev asked, pleased that he was just as hard as he’d been before coming.

“Yes, Prime.”

“Come here.”

Eric had to do it. Dom was right. The time had come. He couldn’t wait anymore to fix the problems in his pack. At least his meeting with Diana had gone better than planned. Though she insisted upon claiming Sean, as was her right as a Ravager female, she agreed to extend her pack by one, to allow the same number of Ravagers the opportunity to bond.

Kate refused to talk to him, no surprise there. Instead of forcing her to listen, he avoided unnecessary tears and dealt with her future mates. While he could sense Jesse’s and Logan’s conflict about leaving his pack, the pair couldn’t hide their excitement over Kate. Some undercurrents he’d been missing of late, apparently.

Annoyed that Dom always seemed to know what he didn’t, he also had a firm talk with Malcolm. Once again, Dom was right. Malcolm’s guer suited his, and the charming Ravager had a definite thing for Vicki, Dom, and Eric himself.

Now all Eric had to do was conquer one small, inconsequential Conduit.

He snorted. Inconsequential. Ha.

“We going to do this or what?” Dom asked, his eyes gleaming. “You know a hunt is the best way to forge the ties we need. A public claiming won’t do it. Word is spreading about the scent marker all over her. You really nailed her, didn’t you?”

Eric glared.

Dom laughed. “Right. Look, the Ravagers who saw her in action respect her, but the few who didn’t need to see what she can really do. They’ll feel better about her if they know how ferocious she is. Then they’ll tell their friends out in the city. Before you know it, human mate or not, you’ll be ass deep in congratulations. Maybe even diapers if all goes well. Of course, that’s provided Vicki doesn’t bolt when she realizes you claimed her…accidentally.”

Eric swore. Dom seemed to enjoy his dilemma way too much. “I’ll seduce her. The woman’s as hungry for it as I am.” Which secretly thrilled him. “Hell, the last few times I had her, she was begging for it. For me.”

“Okay.”

“She was.” Eric felt defensive. So Vicki hadn’t exactly begged him until he’d given it all he had to seduce her. She tested him at every turn, and the hell of it was she got him hard by being so fucking stubborn.

“Give me until tomorrow to set it up. And Prime, make sure you include Malcolm in your hunt. No better time to introduce him as a new member of our pack,” Dom said with a wicked grin. “I’ve been wanting a piece of him for a long time.”

“Why do you wait until the last minute to tell me these things?”

“Timing had to be right. He’s ours, Prime. Just like Vicki.”

Eric sighed. “Just like Vicki, great. If Malcolm’s anywhere near as difficult as Vicki, I’m not just going to fire your ass. I’m going to kick it from here to the Lawless territory.”

Vicki had a bad feeling about Friday night’s events. The entire clan—those in attendance at the Savage homestead, anyway—rallied in the large area behind the house bordered by the tree line. They whispered and pointed when they saw her. Some looked at her with respect, others with caution, and a few with hostility. She wondered if they didn’t want her around Ravager tradition or if she’d irritated one and all in some other way. Who the hell knew?
