Heavy Petting (Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild #2)(20)
Author: Erin Nicholas

But it wasn’t enough.

Jordan was sure she was the first one to give a little moan and press closer. But Fletcher answered the noise and the movement. They both opened their mouths at the same time.

His tongue stroked along her bottom lip and she felt the tingles racing from the top of her head to the hot ball of need that had already gathered in her lower belly. Heat arrowed between her legs and she had to be closer.

She fumbled with her seatbelt, unlocking it, not caring what possible consequence that might bring. She’d gladly pay a fine to get closer to Fletcher.

She climbed into his lap, straddling his thighs. His hands immediately went to her hips and she felt him press her closer. He was hard behind his fly and she instinctively ground against him. That definitely elicited groans from both of them.

She met the stroke of his tongue boldly, wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing as much of her body against his as she could. His fingers dug into her hips, and then slipped back to her ass. He felt amazing. He tasted amazing. The things his mouth and hands were doing to her body were amazing.

This was such a good idea.

They made out for a few minutes. Jordan almost regretted starting this in the car because her natural instinct was to keep going. She wanted to touch him. She wanted to feel him against her. She definitely wanted to strip out of everything she was wearing and rub herself all over him.

But eventually, the driver coughed, and Jordan pulled back. She stared at Fletcher, breathing hard. His breathing was ragged as well.

“Anything else you need to know?” he asked.

She shook her head. “I’m good.”

He gave her a knowing, cocky grin and the arrow of desire that speared through her was enough to make her moan softly.

The car came to a stop and the driver turned to look at them. “We’re here.”

Fletcher didn’t take his eyes from Jordan’s. “Actually, we need you to make a different stop. Any chance you could take us down to the clerk where we can get a marriage license?”

Jordan’s eyes went wide. “What? Really?”

He lifted her hand to his mouth and placed a hot kiss in the center of her palm. “Marry me, Jordan.”

She sucked in a quick breath. Oh God. Married? Seriously? To Fletcher?

Married.

To Fletcher.

But…she felt her head nod.

The driver chuckled and pointed out the window. “That’s where we are, man.”

Fletcher and Jordan both glanced over at the same time. They were definitely not at the airport.

Fletcher looked at the driver. “How did you know?”

“It’s not like I can’t hear every word you say back there.”

Jordan felt her heart hammering in her chest.

She wanted this. And Fletcher thought it was a good idea. She could always count on him to know what she needed.

She reached up and took his face in her hands. “Do you promise to make French toast at least twice a month?”

He paused, then a smile curved his lips. “I do.”

Her heart gave a little flip.

“And do you promise to make me the Oreo fluff stuff you make at least once a month?” he asked.

She couldn’t help the wide smile spread across her face. “I do. And do you promise to watch science documentaries with me at least once a week?”

“I do. If you watch kids’ shows with me. I have to keep up on what my class is into.”

She laughed. “I do. And do you promise to do at least half of the laundry? And scrub the toilets every other time?”

He nodded. “I do. Do you promise to help clean up the yard from our two or three dogs?”

She laughed. He was going to get her dogs. She loved him for that alone.

“I do. And do you promise to always help me cheat when I play poker against Mitch and Owen?”

“I do,” he said with a chuckle. He already did that. “Do you promise to sleep in just a shirt like the one I saw you in this morning every night, forever?”

“I do. Unless, of course, you’d want me to wear nothing at all.”

She felt his fingers digging into her ass. “I do.”

She grinned.

The driver cleared his throat. “I’ll keep the car running.”

Jordan laughed. “So you think we should do this?”

“I’ve been married three times. If I’d said vows like any of the ones you just did, I might still be with one of them.”

Jordan and Fletcher grinned at each other and got out of the car.

There was no line inside the clerk’s office. They got their license and were back in the lobby of the chapel at the MGM Grand thirty minutes later.

“Do you, Fletcher Landry, take Jordan Benoit to be your lawfully wedded wife?”

“I do.”

The look on Fletcher’s face as he said those two words was the look that every woman wanted on the face of the man she loved.

It hit Jordan hard as the officiant asked her if she took Fletcher to be her lawfully wedded husband.

She loved him.

She sucked in a quick breath. She loved him. Not the way she’d always loved him, as a friend, almost a brother, the most important person in her life. But she was in love with him.

Wow.

She blew the breath back out.

That shouldn’t have been stunning.

And…it wasn’t. As it settled in her mind, and her heart, she realized that she wasn’t stunned. At all. She’d been ignoring it, fighting it, telling herself that wasn’t what she was feeling ever since he’d asked her to stay in Autre with him in April.

But it was. When he’d asked her to choose him, she’d wanted to. The yes had been on the tip of her tongue. Walking away from him that night had been the hardest thing she’d ever done. She’d been convinced that was the last chance she’d have. That he would find someone else, that he would belong to someone else, that he’d never be hers and, despite the fact she’d been leaving to join her boyfriend on his world tour, it had killed her to think about losing Fletcher.

But now…he was hers. She could admit how she felt. Not just to herself but to him. To the world.

“I do,” she said, gazing directly into his eyes.

The look on his face as she said her vows to him was hot and sweet and stomach-swooping in a way she never would’ve imagined.

“Then, by the power vested in me by the state of Nevada, I now pronounce you husband and wife.”

Fletcher reached up and cupped her face in his hands tenderly. He looked at her for a long moment, drinking her in. She wrapped her fingers around his wrist, holding him in place.

“I love you, Jordan.”

“I love you too, Fletcher.”

He lowered his head and kissed her. It was the gentlest, sweetest, hottest kiss of her life.

She kissed him back. It wasn’t a hot, wet, passionate kiss. This kiss was full of emotion, promise, and happiness.

Eventually they separated. They looked at each other for another long moment. Then Fletcher grinned. “How about we head home?”

A few hours ago “home” had meant Autre. Now home was even more specific. It was Fletcher’s house on the end of the road that led out of Autre and down to the bayou. She now had a house with the front and back porch. And she would bet really good money that she was going to wake up to French toast in the morning, even though it wasn’t Saturday.
