Heavy Petting (Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild #2)(68)
Author: Erin Nicholas

Finally he lifted his head, staring down at her.

She was still breathing hard, but she smiled up at him as water rained down on them. “Wow.”

“Yeah?”

She laughed. “Yeah.”

“Right up there with the Pythagorean Theorem with Zeke?”

She snorted. “Oh, for sure. Almost as good as learning to change my tire with Zander.”

He stopped, narrowed his eyes, then sighed. “He taught you car maintenance too?”

She bit her lip. “Just basic roadside stuff.”

He reached for the shampoo and poured some into his hands then lifted the suds to her hair. The purple had completely washed out by now and he drew his fingers through the familiar blond strands. “No more learning anything from anyone else.”

He started shampooing her hair and massaging her scalp and she leaned in, put her arms around him, rested her cheek against his chest, and sighed.

“Okay.”

He snorted. “Just okay? That’s it?”

“When you’re doing that to my head? Yeah. That’s it.” She tipped her head back. “I mean, later I’ll probably push back on you being so bossy and say that’s ridiculous, but right now? Anything you say.”

He massaged down to the base of her head. “I’ll keep that in mind.” His cock was stirring again.

She rested her forehead on his chest with another happy sigh. “And then I’ll remember that I like this bossy side of you and I’ll probably let you get away with it again.”

“You do, huh?”

“I do. You’ve always been really sweet and patient with me. But I like when you push me.”

Yeah, his cock was nearly at full-mast.

She noticed. And wiggled closer.

But now he needed to get to work.

“Do you remember the time when we all went out for breakfast after a bonfire and we were sitting in the booth and all of a sudden a spider crawled out of your hair, down your arm and onto the table?” he asked.

She lifted a brow. “Seriously?”

“You don’t remember that?”

“I do. We’d been down by the bayou. The damn thing probably dropped into my hair from the trees and you know it. But it was creepy and weird and embarrassing. But really? You’re trying to distract yourself now?”

He tipped her head back into the water to rinse the shampoo. God she was gorgeous. “Yep.”

“You’re so weird.” She ran her hands over her hair, which, of course drew attention to her breasts.

He took a deep breath and reached for the door to the shower stall. “Still…can’t get the spider in your hair out of my mind. Gotta go.”

She laughed and he knew she didn’t believe him for a second.

But at least he got out of the bathroom without putting her up against the wall of the shower.

This time.

There had been kids at the petting zoo every day, of course, but today Jordan had butterflies.

Some of it could have been her body still humming from the shower she and Fletcher had taken together that morning. She could instantly picture everything and her body would flush and she’d lose her train of thought. She knew because that had happened in the midst of talking to Charlie twice that morning.

She now understood why Fletcher had been so determined to find ways to distract himself when he started to feel turned on. It was really difficult to get anything else done when her mind kept wanting to wander to the memory of Fletcher standing under the shower spray, wet, slippery, stroking his big, hard cock. She’d definitely gone into the bathroom knowing she’d get a look at him naked, but she hadn’t expected to walk in on him doing that.

If she had, she would’ve gotten out of bed a lot faster.

But at least some of her butterflies were because Fletcher’s class was coming to the petting zoo today for a field trip and she really wanted him to see Sophia interacting with the alpacas. Hearing about it from her wasn’t the same as witnessing it. She knew it would make him feel better to see the little girl smiling, chatting, and loving on the little animal.

They arrived shortly after noon. Jordan and Fletcher only had time to exchange smiles in the immediate flurry of activity but even that made her feel warm and happy.

The kids ate lunch while she talked about the alpacas, giving the kids general information about the animals but then transitioning into stories about two of them—Alpacapella, the one that loved to be sung to, and Chewpaca, the one who was missing his mom.

The kids were mostly good listeners. Everything went well. Until the kids were dismissed to look around the barnyard and to pet the goats, alpacas, and pigs.

And two of the moms sidled up to Fletcher.

Nancy Howell was one of them. They’d all gone to high school together and she’d had a crush on Fletcher.

Jordan didn’t know the other one. And while Nancy was laughing as if Fletcher was the funniest person she’d ever met and putting her hand on his arm, it was the other woman who was standing against him. As in her right breast was pressed into his left biceps and she was looking at him as if he was a piece of double chocolate cake with fudge frosting.

A single piece of double chocolate cake with fudge frosting. As in a not-married piece of…

Jordan blew out a breath and headed in that direction.

Honestly, in the past, she would have tried to catch his eye and see if he gave her some kind of signal that he wanted to be saved. But that past had ended about a week ago in Las Vegas. He was now hers and she didn’t need any kind of signal.

“Hi, everyone,” she greeted sunnily as she approached.

Nancy had the good sense to look a little chagrined and she took a step back. “Oh, hi, Jordan. I didn’t know you were working here until we showed up today.”

Jordan gave her a smile that wasn’t completely fake. Nancy was married with two kids. The one in third grade had been a surprise to her and her high school boyfriend their junior year of high school. They’d gotten married and stayed together ever since. That didn’t, of course, mean she wasn’t fine with the idea of a fling with the hot third-grade teacher though.

“Yep, I’m back.” She looked up at Fletcher.

He was watching her with an expression that was slightly amused and slightly this-might-be-interesting.

Oh, he wanted her to stake her claim? That was fine. She was all in on that.

She reached out her hand toward the other woman. “Hi. I’m Jordan.”

The other woman had stopped leaning on Fletcher but there wasn’t enough space between them yet for Jordan’s liking.

“Yes, I know from your introduction to the kids. I’m Ashley Mason.” She took Jordan’s hand in a weak shake.

Ashley was beautiful. Blond. Curvy. Totally Fletcher’s type.

Too freaking bad.

“Well, Ashley, the part you must have missed is my last name. It’s Landry. I’m Fletcher’s wife.”

Ashley nodded. “I know. You’re the one Jason Young dumped.”

Ah. Okay. Jordan nodded. “I sure am. Did you see it on TV?”

“I did, as a matter of fact.” Ashley gave her a little smirk.

“Didn’t my ass look awesome in that dress?” Jordan asked.

Fletcher snorted and reached out, taking her hand and pulling her close. “It definitely did.” He ran his other hand around and cupped said ass, giving her a squeeze.
