Dead Lands (Savage Lands #3)(26)
Author: Stacey Marie Brown

“I’d betray anyone for them.” His fingers wrapped tighter in my hair. “Killian was using them as leverage.” Warwick’s lips rose in a snarl. “He hid them from me while I was in Halálház, making sure I behaved. Spied for him.” He leaned closer into me. “If I traded you, he’d let them go, let me be free. Their location was in the envelope he gave me.” He growled, his forehead hitting mine. “I would give anything up for them. I still would.”

I actually understood. I would have probably done the same.

“I’d kill, betray, or destroy anyone who hurt them. I swore on my mother’s death I would take care of Eliza. And now Simon. And yet I hesitated for three days—three fucking days. Every morning I would go to meet Killian, to make the arrangement... and stop. Find myself turning around...” His gaze burned into mine, his jaw straining. “Because of you.”

My throat tightened, swallowing roughly at his admission, the mix of anger and passion swirling in his words and face.

I wanted to be mad. To hate him for what he did to me, but I couldn’t. If anything, his loyalty to his family caused my heart to stumble over itself, which speared fear through my chest. To “get this out of our system” was one thing. Falling for the mythical Warwick Farkas was another.

Something I could never do.

I wasn’t that stupid.

“Well.” Clearing my throat, I glanced away. “You should have told me.”

“Why?” He grinned roguishly. Taking my hand, he wrapped it around his growing erection, his hot skin pulsing in my palm. “I get fucking hard seeing you jealous,” he rumbled in my ear, sending goosebumps down my flesh. Still glistening with me, his cock grew harder under my palm, desire clawing at me again. After the last orgasm, I didn’t think there was any way in this century I could go this soon.

Warwick seemed to prove me wrong.

“I hate you.” I glared at him, making him smirk.

“Take out all your hate on me then.” He hitched me back up his body, my legs wrapping around him as he fell against a wall, sliding down until he was sitting, my body straddling his. “I want to feel your pussy greedily clamp down on my dick again, milking it fucking dry.”

His blunt words heated my cheeks, stirring my body awake again.

Real and imaginary, we taunted each other. Hands touched, lips kissed, tongues licked, fingers stroked every patch of skin.

“Gods.” He clenched his teeth as I kissed him while I also took his length into my mouth, sucking and humming. Deepening our kiss, I could feel his tongue between my legs, stealing my breath.

“Kovacs,” he growled.

I lifted my hips, sliding slowly down him, his size filling me to the point of torture, jolting my nerves with desire. Both of us halted with a sharp inhale.

My head fell back, my lids fluttering. Nothing had ever felt so good, forcing me to walk the line of sanity.

His hips hitched up, hitting a different place inside me, forcing a hoarse gasp from my lungs.

“Kibaszott pokolba!” Fucking hell! His fingers gripped my hips as I rode him harder, hitting even deeper than we had before, the man’s presence filling every inch of me. Haunting. Looming. I couldn’t hide or run. He was everywhere and in everything.

Sparks danced around us, the bones clattering. Our vigor crashed into every surface, breaking like waves, drowning us.

My climax raced even faster to the edge than the first, knowing now how unbelievable it felt, though I never wanted to stop.

“I want to feel your fuckin’ pussy clench around me, Kovacs.” His fingers rubbed the bundle of nerves, lashing a scream from my lungs, blinding my vision.

Once again, scenes flashed behind my lids. A bawling newborn, the night sky exploding with magic over the fussing baby coated with afterbirth, the thick substance sliding into the dirt. Images jumped to Warwick dead in the field, the war bustling around him, me over him.

His eyes popped open, gasping with life. “Sötét demonom.”

My vision snapped back. Aqua eyes stared back into mine, the same ones from that night. Our bodies were too close to bliss to stop, but I could see it in his eyes, the way he stared back at me with confusion and awe.

He had seen the same thing I did.

Again and again, he slammed into me. Sweat trickled between my breasts, his tongue catching the drops before he tossed me onto my back, pushing up my knees and fucking me with brutal ferocity. The skeletons jangled and clattered as our energy filled the small room.

My cries rose as I felt myself start to spin out of control.

“Now, my dark demon,” he ordered. “Fucking come for me.”

My body shattered on demand again, seizing around him intensely, and I burst into stardust. Bolts of lightning tingled my skin and twirled over my nerves. He exploded inside me, bellowing loudly, spurring another climax within me.

My mind blacked out, forgetting to breathe, nails digging and scratching into his back. I felt him pulse in me as my body continued to clench him like a vise. He fell on top of me with a groan.

We both stayed frozen as we came down, breaths heavy and panting.

“Holy shit,” I whispered, dazed, no longer part of reality. Energy tingled and melted my muscles, my mind shattered. I could still feel him inside and around me.

“Yeah.” Warwick blew out. Going up on his elbows on either side of my head, he lowered his head, kissing me. “I think I lost consciousness for a moment.” He kissed me again before rolling off me, falling on his back with a huff, splaying out like he couldn’t move. “Fuck, woman... I’ve been with human, fae, and mixed... sometimes six at a time—”

“Seriously?” I hit his chest, frowning.

He snorted, snatching my hand, his voice low and coarse. “Let’s just say I’ve never blacked out. Not even close.” He tugged me into his side.

“So that wasn’t normal sex with a legend?” I arched one brow in a taunt.

“I didn’t say that.” He grinned cheekily. “But no one has ever been able to keep up or challenge me.” His throat vibrated. “That’s why I always needed so many.”

“Are you saying little ol’ me was enough to please the great Warwick Farkas?”

His body curled over mine, his lips claiming my own. “Whatever the fuck you are... you did more than that.”

Whatever the fuck you are.

“What am I?” My teeth bit into my lip.

“I don’t know.” Tucking an arm under his head, he peered at me. “You aren’t human.”

Tears pricked my eyes. I had already known, but feeling the power inside me, the light...

“I know,” I croaked.

“But you aren’t fae.”

Again, I somehow knew. But if I wasn’t human or fae, what the hell could I be?

“Like me,” he blew out, staring at the ceiling.

Another thing linking us. Were we the same nothing? No auras or species. Standing in a void of no man’s land, between life and death.

The gray.

“Okay, I can’t take any more of the postcoital crap.” A man’s voice snarled from the other side of the church. “I’m gonna vomit.”

“Holy shit!” I yelped. Warwick and I scrambled to our feet.

Across the small church, a man lounged on a stone coffin, carving into an apple. His back leaned up against the wall, his ripped, dirty pant leg dangling on one side. He turned his head, tangled brown hair hanging down his scruffy face, hazel eyes sliding to me. His gaze rolled down my naked figure, a smirk hitching the side of his mouth.
