Restored : Marco Fights Back(38)
Author: Sharon Hamilton

“He’s probably safer there than in his own palace, Marco. Things are blowing up everywhere.”

“Yeah. Have a nice day and get some intel I can rely on.”

Marco hung up the phone and hit his desk with his fist.

“Dammit! I’m going to have to go over there.”

“No. Not yet, Marco. You don’t know what you’re getting into.”

Marco knew she was scared, but he didn’t have much faith in the intelligence gathering from the State Department these days. Policy was more important than truth or accuracy. Success was measured in how not to respond than to cause confrontations, even if those were going to happen anyway. If they could get into the country, he had assets he could use, and even people he could pay to get the information he needed. He knew Karen was in danger. And with all that cash, someone might think this was going to be as good as it gets, and her usefulness would be devalued.

Her life was on the line.

“I’m the only person to lead this mission, Shannon.”

“I’m coming too.”

“No, you’re not. One thing working with me in the office, even working with me on the project there. But this may turn out to be a hostage rescue situation. You have no training in that, sweetheart. Not yet. Bless you for wanting to help, but now I must get ready to mount this mission. There’s a lot at stake.”

“Send someone else first, then you can go.”

“Why would I ask someone to risk their life and not risk my own? This is my gig. We don’t operate that way, sweetheart.”

“But no one would think ill of you sitting this one out. You’ve just healed from a horrible injury.”

“But you and I know I’m healthy, and ready to do it. I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t try to save one of my own. They’d do and have done the same for me.”

It took nearly ten hours to get the report back that indeed the plane had landed, and all on board, a small group of six, including Paul, the pilot, were taken to quarters in a police station outside of the capital, run by one of the warring warlords. Somehow, he was apprised that Karen carried lots of cash, and he didn’t want a piece of it.

He wanted all of it.

He didn’t need a plane. He already had three others he’d taken in the past week. He was promised troops and equipment from a Russian go-between businessman who had offices in Washington, D.C.

He was on a path he couldn’t turn back from now. So, he took the money, blew up the plane, and held the hostages, threatening to kill them all if he didn’t get a face-to-face meeting with the man who sent the plane.

He wanted a “friendly” sit-down with Marco Gambini.

And Marco was going to give it to him.

About the Author

Sharon Hamilton

NYT and USA Today best-selling author Sharon Hamilton’s award-winning Navy SEAL Brotherhood series have been a fan favorite from the day the first one was released. They’ve earned her the coveted Amazon author ranking of #1 in Romantic Suspense, Military Romance and Contemporary Romance categories, as well as in Gothic Romance for her Vampires of Tuscany and Guardian Angels. Her characters follow a sometimes rocky road to redemption through passion and true love.

Now that he’s out of the Navy, Sharon can share with her readers that her son spent a decade as a Navy SEAL, and he’s the inspiration for her books.

Her Golden Vampires of Tuscany are not like any vamps you’ve read about before, since they don’t go to ground and can walk around in the full light of the sun.

Her Guardian Angels struggle with the human charges they are sent to save, often escaping their vanilla world of Heaven for the brief human one. You won’t find any of these beings in any Sunday school class.

She lives in Sonoma County, California with her husband and her Doberman, Tucker. A lifelong organic gardener, when she’s not writing, she’s getting verra verra dirty in the mud, or wandering Farmers Markets looking for new Heirloom varieties of vegetables and flowers. She and her husband plan to cure their wanderlust (or make it worse) by traveling in their Diesel Class A Pusher, Romance Rider. Starting with this book, all her writing will be done on the road.

PRAISE FOR THE

GOLDEN VAMPIRES OF TUSCANY SERIES

“Well to say the least I was thoroughly surprise. I have read many Vampire books, from Ann Rice to Kym Grosso and few other Authors, so yes I do like Vampires, not the super scary ones from the old days, but the new ones are far more interesting far more human than one can remember. I found Honeymoon Bite a totally engrossing book, I was not able to put it down, page after page I found delight, love, understanding, well that is until the bad bad Vamp started being really bad. But seeing someone love another person so much that they would do anything to protect them, well that had me going, then well there was more and for a while I thought it was the end of a beautiful love story that spanned not only time but, spanned Italy and California. Won’t divulge how it ended, but I did shed a few tears after screaming but Sharon Hamilton did not let me down, she took me on amazing trip that I loved, look forward to reading another Vampire book of hers.”
