The Prospect Who Saved Us (The Devils Dust MC Legacy #3)(8)
Author: M.N. Forgy

I sit up.

“What’s that?”

“Prenatals,” she clips, sniffling like she has a cold but in reality, it’s probably from drug use. She smells of hairspray and smoke. Her nails perfectly painted black this morning.

Coming into the room farther, she holds her fist out conveying she wants me to take the pill, I take them.

They’re big and pink like the color of Barbie’s car. I peer at the bottle in her hands, curious what brand they are but her hand is covering the label.

Are these a reputable kind a mother would take or are these Candy’s from when she was pregnant years ago? Hell, she’s so crazy, these could be something to hurt me or the baby. Looking through my lashes, I stare at her. Her robe slides open as she sits on the bed next to me, her perfectly round tits in clear view. They have to be fake, or is that just what us women think when we see another woman with a better rack then ourselves?

I look back to the pill sitting on my palm, my thumb flipping it over and over. If I were free, I would be googling the best pills to take. I can already imagine Bobbie’s wife, Doc, telling me you can’t put a price on good health. I’d probably argue with her but in reality, I’d give in. I know I would. Sighing, I nibble my bottom lip. I do anything to know that the pill I’m about to take is nothing but the best.

“You’re really pretty,” she compliments, taking a drag from her cigarette with one hand as the other slides the hair out of my eyes. She lightly brushes the staples on the other side of my head.

“You really went for a ride, didn’t you?” she questions, looking at my marks from the accident.

“Just ask your son,” I remark.

Taking another drag from her cigarette, she blows it in my face. “Your daddy have red hair too?”

My eyes drag from my hand to her face, my lip curling. This sick bitch is quietly thinking about what my baby will look like. Wondering if it will have my red hair, will it have olive-colored skin?

It makes me want to throw up.

My stomach bubbles, my mouth watering. Wait, I really am going to throw up!

Standing to rush to the bathroom, my wrist catches from the cuff and before Candy realizes what is going on, I puke all over her lap and the floor.

She screams, standing from my bed frantically. Her nostrils flare, eyes glaring at me as if I did it on purpose. Maybe I did, I could have turned my head another way, I guess.

She places her cigarette between her lips, and undoes her robe, exposing her entire naked body, not an ounce of modesty flushing her cheeks. She tosses the green silk at me and turns her back. Her perfect ass in view before she rushes out of the room, clearly pissed.

I’d laugh, but I have puke on my chin, covering the floor and bed where I’m handcuffed. She’s just going to leave me in my own vomit. Nice.

Stupid bitch. Hand curling with the pill in my hand, I yell and throw them at the door.

Where is my family?

Why haven’t they come for me yet?

Exhaustion hits me like a dead weight, the need to puke still heavy in my throat I sit down on the bed. I feel like shit all of a sudden, is this what morning sickness is? Raising my hand to my head, I close my eyes and feel the heaviness behind them, I need to lay down. Kicking the puke-covered blankets off the bed, I climb on top of the mattress and bury my head into the musty smelling pillow. The urge to vomit again not far away, I try to rest from the terrorizing thoughts of what Candy intends to do to me and my baby. I will dreams of escape to a land of fantasy.

My stomach growls like an angry bear, and the need to pee waking me from my slumber. Sitting up, my body aches from the way I was curled up on the bed, my back sweating from the lack of air in this old house. I need some water.

Groaning, I slide to the side of the bed, the smell of sour puke reminding me that I vomited all over the place.

I want out of this place. They can’t keep me in here like this. Like an animal.

Even though my wrist is sore, I begin to slam the cuff amongst the bedframe.

“Hey!” I holler, my voice hoarse. “I need some fucking water!” Within minutes, I hear footsteps up the stairs and I quiet down.

The door opens and Stacks scowls at me, pissed I summoned him. He’s shirtless, showing that spider tattoo again, his blue jeans hung so low I can see the V shape that men in shape have.

“I’m thirsty and need to pee,” I demand with an unfriendly tone, trying to bite back the tears filling my eyes.

His shoulders rise, and he looks to his right as if someone is standing beside him.

“Tell Rad to bring me the chain out of Shed A.”

Careening my neck as far as I can, I try to see who he’s talking to, but can’t. Whoever it is, complies as I hear their light footsteps descend the stairs.

“It smells in here.” Stacks wrinkles his nose, eyeing me like a stray animal begging for shelter.

“I need clean sheets and clothes.” I gesture toward my dried vomit.

His brows pinch together.

“That’s just fucking sick.”

Angry, I cross my arms.

“It’s hot as Satan’s asshole in here, I haven’t eaten, I’m wearing the same clothes from the day before, and I’m fucking pregnant. What do you expect exactly when you treat me like a dog?”

He grunts.

“I’d never treat my dog like this.”

My mouth drops. Great, his pet gets better treatment than I do.

The sound of a chain hits the stairs, the familiar sound of Rad’s whistle cause my eyes to widen. Out of everyone in this dump, he is the one I fear and hate the most. He deceived not just me but my club. If I weren’t pregnant, I’d do everything in my power to hurt him.

Rad now stands next to Stacks, a foolish smile on his face. Shirtless, and wearing board shorts, with sun-burnt skin. He must have gone out to the beach today. At least him being a lover of the sea was real.

“What do you need this for?” Rad asks, handing the rusty links over.

Stacks doesn’t answer him, he just strides into the room. My back straightens, scared of what his intentions are with this long, heavy chain. As he gets closer to the bed, I shuffle as far as I can toward the wall.

“Take a breath.” He grunts like I’m being ridiculous, squatting by the bed.

Grabbing my cuff, he undoes it and I instantly raise my hand and rub at the purple circle bruising my skin. It is raw and hurts. Jesus, it looks really bad, the skin is thin and ready to split at any moment. He snatches my foot catching me off guard and slaps the cuff onto my ankle.

I frown at the tight fit. My ankle is going to look like my damn wrist. He stands, jerking the chain, causing me to nearly fall into him.

“Come,” he demands. I am not a dog! I shove him away from me, but of course he doesn’t move because it’s like I just went up to a brick house and tried to push it with my own two hands.

His lip curls with amusement, and he jerks the chain again causing me to crash into him. His bare chest under my palms making me uncomfortable, I quickly step away.

“Dude, Candy is not going to like this,” Rad says, shaking his head. Looking at the chain.

“I don’t really give a fuck, move out of my way.” Stacks growls and Rad steps aside. He takes me out of the bedroom and down the first flight of stairs to a radiator bolted to the wall. Wrapping the chain around it, he gives Rad a look.
