Ells threw his head back and laughed. “You’re an idiot. I played it almost every day because I was crazy attracted to one of the damned caddies. Couldn’t keep my eyes off his delectable ass. And now I get to fuck it. See, Grey? Things work out. You just have to be patient.”
“Lesson learned,” I said dryly. “Patience pays off. Then you won’t mind waiting until we’re in the hotel tonight to suck me off.”
“I never said anything about sucking you off,” he reminded me, pulling out of my arms and reaching for his wallet and phone off our dresser. “But now that we’re on the subject, I think I might owe you one in the storage closet during the wedding reception. If you’re a good boy and get us out of that tee time, I might consider also letting you have my ass in the hotel room later. You know why? Because I’m a giver.”
“Such a giver,” I murmured, remembering how vocally he’d begged me to pound his ass an hour ago in the shower.
We made our way downstairs to the car that was waiting to take us to the helipad at Hudson Yards. As soon as Ellison slid into the back seat, he reached up to clap Emery on the shoulder. “Any way you’d want to detour us past the Hell’s Kitchen property so I can see the fencing they put up?”
Emery winked over at me. “Mr. York already told me you’d want to go that way, sir.”
Ellison settled back in the leather seat, happily inquiring about Emery’s nephew. Ellison reached over automatically to rest his hand on my leg. I winced and hopped away, panicking about him feeling the outline of the ring in my pocket. Ellison stopped talking long enough to slow-pan toward me.
“Does my touch disgust you now?”
I cleared my throat. “I’m just nervous about the club. You know… all the people there. The memories.”
“Bullshit.”
Quick, think of something, you idiot.
“Uh…”
Suddenly, the car jerked to a stop with a screech of tires. Emery stifled a curse at the car in front of him before easing the car ahead again.
“Terrible traffic,” I muttered.
“Grey…”
“Oh look! The building! It’s being demolished on Tuesday. You should come. Join me. Watch it with me.”
Ells narrowed his eyes at me before realizing Emery had pulled the car over and parked. I distracted my boyfriend by making a big production of getting out and sneaking past the temporary fencing to grab a piece of rubble from the Hell’s Kitchen site.
“For you,” I said, presenting him a… rock.
He sighed. “‘Date a billionaire,’ they said. ‘He’ll lavish you with extravagant gifts,’ they said.” He looked down at the dusty rock now sifting a few of its charms onto his formerly pristine suit.
“Maybe one day I’ll get you a real one,” I said, forcing my hand not to go anywhere near my pocket.
Ellison looked at me with that mischievous expression he seemed to get more often than not these days.
“I dare you.”
