Dragon Heat_ Sassy Ever After (Dragon Island Book 1)(12)
Author: Jodi Kendrick

She shivered.

His fingers hooked into the waistband of her pants, dragging them down, kissing her skin as it was exposed. He paused at the apex of her thighs, drew a deep breath, kissed each thigh, and freed her feet of the fabric, then guided her to sit on the bedroll. He used her abandoned pants to wipe the sand from her feet and draped her clothing over the ledge of the open window.

He did the same with his shorts.

She stared at his naked body, admiring the sight of him.

He was ready for her.

She scooted back to make room for him. He reached for her, drawing her back where she was and settled between her thighs, lips returning to her belly.

His eyes twinkled when he looked at her face, lips quirked as he gently moved her leg so that her inner knee rested on his shoulder.

Watching him through a haze of desire, her body smoldered as he lowered his head to kiss her thigh, so close to her core. His tongue tasted her wetness and she fell back onto her elbows with a groan.

His tongue, dear dragongoddess, his tongue licked and delved, gentle then insistent, lips suckling and nipping over and over again.

Eyes closed; her world went white, light blazing behind her eyelids. His mouth didn’t stop until her shudders did.

With a final kiss on her thigh, he looked up at her, his face taut with desire.

He stood, intending to crawl in beside her, but when his erection wavered in front of her, she growled and grabbed him.

Startled, he didn’t move.

His eyes were heavy as he looked down at her gripping him. She licked her lips and took him into her mouth, working him as he had her. His head fell back, fingers sliding through her hair, gentle.

“Stop,” he gasped after a few moments.

Releasing him, she smiled and moved back onto the bedroll to make room for him. He took her place and swept her into his arms so that she straddled him, his face level with her breasts.

He planted his mouth on a nipple. She gasped as he slid his fingers along her hyper-sensitive wet flesh.

Catching his face between her hands, she stared into his eyes, kissing him as deeply as she could, mingling her tongue with his, then broke away to look at him again.

Thick brows, long lashes, eyes that sparkled when he looked at her. Strong nose and full lips framed by his trimmed beard. The hair that was normally tied up fell around his shoulders now, damp with sea water.

She memorized him, imprinting.

He seemed to be doing the same. His hand rose to stroke her jaw.

Slowly, she lowered her hips, impaling herself on him.

He drew in a shuddered breath as she exhaled a shuddered breath.

Finally, united.

They drank in each other’s faces, just breathing.

She wanted to stay as they were forever.

At the same time, her hips were compelled to move. Her muscles held every inch of his hard flesh tight.

He leaned in to lick her throat. Her head fell back to expose more of it to his mouth, reveling in the sensation as she rocked her hips.

Teeth nipped her fevered skin. Her fingers dug into his shoulders, his fingers dug into her hips, guiding her so she plunged down on him, harder, faster, nipples grazing his chest.

His left arm slid around her hips locking her in place, his right stroked up her back to grip the base of her neck, driving her down.

“Jori!”

She exploded again, gripping him so tight she thought she was going to die. Through the blinding haze, she was acutely aware of him expanding and surging inside of her.

He exhaled on a long breath, his forehead pressed to her chest.

He looked up into her face, lids heavy, then pulled her down to kiss him. He drew his long legs up into the plane and shifted them so they could lay back on the bedroll, Kymri still atop him. Jori still inside her.

They rested for a short while before the exploration of each other’s bodies began in earnest.

It was very late by the time Kymri flew back to the guard tower platform. She went straight to her office to make her report ready to present to the council.

She couldn’t leave him on the beach anymore.

Her fingers drummed the desktop. The hot pink of her nails drew her attention to the memory of him admiring the color and kissing each finger, his tongue slipping over the sensitive pads of her fingertips.

What do I do?

She wanted to keep him.

He needed to get home.

He wouldn’t be allowed to stay.

And she had her duty to protect her queen and her people.

Invaders

Stenlen soared over the open ocean, his subordinates off either wingtip.

The human’s last broadcast had stated he was headed toward these coordinates.

There was something here.

The scent in the air signaled a change in magnetic energy. He dipped through several layers of cloud, banking and rolling to break the monotony of the endless ocean and sky. It helped a little. He’d rather be flying over the mountain ranges and forests back home.

An unfamiliar scent drifted past his nostrils, triggering the urge to hunt.

Female, and nearby.

He followed it, his companions flying close behind trailing in his wake, moving almost as a unit.

He snarled; he could taste her in the air, they were fucking close!

He couldn’t believe it.

The human had let them to the dragonesses.

He could taste her.

It was a thin stream of scent in the air. Distinctive. Keeping his nostrils aligned with the drifting scent, he followed it further and further to the east, pulling him along like a bull ring in his nose. He was latched on and was not going to let it go.

They’d waited far too long to find their lair.

Maybe there was only one dragon—like the last time they managed to trap one?

No, where there was one, there were more. They stayed glued together like hens, and he would swallow them all up.

Excitement rippled through him.

He heard the growls coming from behind him. They had scented her too, edging them forward, the instinct to pursue driving at them.

The scent grew stronger, it wouldn’t be long.

He realized they were traveling in an arc, no matter, they’d follow it. Around and around, it pulled them in a massive spiral, an orbit.

He could feel it in his scales and ridges.

They were circling something important. The queen? Would they be so lucky?

He snuffed and angled his wings in tighter then signaled his wing men to fan out.

She was close...

A small dark form in the distance appeared and he knew it wasn’t a bird. Good.

So fucking good.

He could barely contain the rush.

How long had it been since they’d had females? Real females, not the weak human ones. Genuine dragon females that could take a real dragon man.

They couldn’t hide from them anymore. It was time for them to return to accept their places under the guidance of male dragons. Reunite the sexes of the species.

Up ahead, the little dragoness veered away from the trajectory she’d originally been flying in.

She must have sighted or sensed them.

She was trying to lead them away from her treasure island.

Go for the island, or go for her?

He made the decision to pursue her. They could make her talk without them having to spend wasted hours flying over the ocean. She could tell them exactly where the rest of them were.

Just a little patience. And a little intimidation — but only if she made it necessary.
