Beyond the Play (Out of Reach #3)(4)
Author: Kaylee Ryan

I don’t know how long we’re on the dance floor. One song bleeds into another, and that’s just fine with me. This night that started as complete shit has moved to having this gorgeous woman in my arms, grinding against me. I still don’t know her name, but I know the taste of her skin as I press my lips to her neck. I know the smell of her hair as I bury my face in it. I know the feel of her ass pressed against my cock, and I know the curve of her hips beneath my palms.

I fucking love it all.

Every. Piece.

Normally, I’m ready for this part of the night to end and get to the sex, but she feels too damn good in my arms to rush this. It’s the most fun I’ve had at foreplay in… well… ever. I’m content to be right here, grinding into her. It’s just going to make taking her later tonight that much sweeter. I might sound presumptuous, but the way she’s grinding on my dick and pressing her tight little body against mine, I know she wants it just as bad as I do.

Electricity courses through my veins. Very rarely do I get this worked up. It’s usually me sitting at the bar. We make eye contact, I buy her a drink, and she comes over to say thank you. She mentions that she knows who I am, and that’s when I spell it out for her.

One night.

No strings.

No exchange of numbers.

No happily ever after.

Just sex.

Those are the rules, and I’ve never had anyone balk at them, and I’ve never been tempted for a repeat. Although if anyone was going to tempt me, it would be this beauty in my arms.

She turns in my arms, locking her hands behind my neck. Her body is pressed against mine, and my cock is as hard as it’s ever been in my life. My hands are on her hips, but I need her closer. I’m not sure if that’s even possible. What I do know is that this woman is intoxicating, and I can’t get enough of her. Sliding my hands from her waist, I let them fall to the top of her ass and hold her close. My forehead lowers to her as we sway to the music. My chest is rapidly rising and falling, and hers matches my rhythm.

Good to know I’m not the only one affected by the intensity flowing between us. Song after song plays over the speakers, and neither one of us seems ready to let go. When she lifts her head, I lower mine. I lick my lips in anticipation as she bites down on hers. I’m going to kiss her, and she’s going to let me. I lean in a little closer. I can feel her hot breath mingle with my own. This is it. I lower a little closer, but before I get a chance to see if her lips are as soft as they look, we’re bombarded by her friends. One of them taps on her shoulder, pulling her attention from me to them.

One of them motions that she needs a drink, and my dancing partner nods in agreement. She pulls away from me and loops arms with her friend as they make their way to the bar. I stand there and stare after her. She doesn’t even look back at me. Two women slide up next to me. One moves to my front while the other takes my back. However, I can’t even appreciate the hot girl sandwich they’re making out of me because I’m still staring after the girl with the long dark hair and big blue eyes. Who just… dismissed me?

What. The. Fuck?

Stepping away from the handsy twins, I make my way to the bar. I slide up next to her and place my hand on the small of her back. “What are you drinking?”

She turns to look at me. “I’m good, thanks.”

“Come on, love. I just had my cock and my hands all over you. The least you can do is let me buy you a drink before we get out of here.”

I see her shoulders stiffen as she turns to face me. “First of all”—she holds up one slender finger “I’m not your love. Second of all, we were dancing. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less.”

“Come on.” I laugh. “You don’t really believe that. We were practically fucking out there,” I say, trying to keep my voice smooth and the irritation I feel at bay. I’ve never had someone so blatantly push me away. Not even in high school.

“Dancing,” she says again.

“He’s right, you know,” her friend chimes in. “It was hot.” She smiles over at me. “Hi, I’m Kate.” She grins mischievously at her friend. “This is Parker.”

I wink at Kate. “See. We’re hot together.”

“Sorry to disappoint you, but we’re done here.” She grabs her drink, slides some cash toward the bartender, and walks away.

I stand frozen for a second or two before jumping into action and grab Kate’s arm before she can get too far away. “Kate, is it?” I ask her.

“Yep.” She grins.

“What’s up with Parker? She got a man?”

“Nope.”

“Can you give me her number?” I ask

“Nope. If she wants you to have it, she’ll give it to you.”

“Here I thought you were on my team.”

She shakes her head, tsking. “You see, that’s where you’re wrong. I’m on her team, always. Just because I think she needs to let loose”—her eyes rake over my body“and that you would be the perfect candidate for that doesn’t mean I’ll be giving up her details.”

I run a frustrated hand through my hair. “At least tell me where I can find her.” I’m aware that I sound like a whiny bitch, and that’s not me. This isn’t who I am, but she walked away. That’s never happened to me before. I need the chance to redeem myself.

“We’re here a lot. Tonight we’re blowing off steam from midterms.”

“Is she eighteen?” I ask, feeling the blood rush from my face.

Kate throws her head back in laughter. “You’re safe, Casanova. She’s twenty-one.”

She looks twenty-one, and she was buying drinks, but you never know these days. Some good fake IDs are floating around out there, and I was a college student. I know how crafty some people can be when they want to be.

“That’s all you’re going to give me?” I ask as Parker and the rest of their group step up beside us.

“We’re heading out,” Parker announces. She doesn’t give me a single glance of recognition.

“How are you getting home?” I ask her. She ignores me. Reaching out, I gently place my hand on her arm. “Parker.” I wait until she turns her irritated gaze my way. “How are you getting home?” I don’t know why but I need to know she’s going to get home safe. All of them have been drinking.

“Not that it’s any of your business, but we took an Uber.” She turns back to Kate. “Ready?”

“See you around, Casanova.” Kate waves and follows her group of friends out the door.

I’m left standing there with my dick in my hands. Well, not really, but I might as well be. I don’t know what the fuck just happened, but Parker, whatever her last name is, just sealed her fate. Maybe I should have told her that I’m a playmaker.

CHAPTER 3

Parker

I march out of the club like my ass is on fire. And in a way, it is. I’m turned on, which pisses me off. I knew better than to dance with him. I know who he is and what he’s known for, but I did it anyway. His body felt too damn good pressed against mine. And the way he moved his body in time with mine… hot as hell. I’m so turned on right now I can’t see straight. If he were anyone else, I’d have given him my number. Hell, I might have dragged their sexy ass back to the dance floor, and who knows, maybe, just maybe, taken him home with me.
