On the Sweet Side (Wish #3)(32)
Author: Audrey Carlan

He lifted his head and gifted me the sexiest grin I’d ever seen on a man. As though he were a kid in a candy store, and I was his favorite treat.

“Baby, I’m a serious breast man, but I’m eager for a taste of something else sweet.” One of his eyebrows cocked and the corresponding grin melted me to liquid fire instantly.

My heart pounded and the little wanton woman hidden inside me came out cheering when he palmed my breasts, tweaked both nipples simultaneously and ran his tongue between them, over my rounded stomach and straight to the edge of my trousers. He unbuckled the clasp with his teeth.

   With. His. Teeth.

I’d never seen that done before, but the man was a master at it. Fast and skilled, he had the button undone and the zipper down with his nose nuzzling my lace panties.

I lifted my hips and he tugged at my trousers, bringing them just far enough down my thighs so he could put his mouth on my soaked panties, and he did. He pressed his nose and mouth right where my clit was and sucked at the fabric. I held on to his hair and lifted, trying to get more, to take all he was offering.

Out of nowhere an annoying, blaring sound clanged from his back pocket.

“Fuck!” he growled and rested his cheek against my pubic bone and breathed deep. Air left his mouth and stirred the exposed skin of my hips. The alarm went off again.

   “What is that? A call?”

He shook his head and pushed off me until he was on his knees. He brought the phone from his pocket and hit a couple buttons, then to my absolute shock, backed away from my body until he was off the bed.

“Isa, baby, you’re gonna hate this but definitely not more than me. Honey, I gotta go.” His beautiful, muscular shoulders slumped at his admission.

There I lay, the cups of my bra pushed under my giant knockers, breasts flapping in the breeze, his saliva cooling on the tips as he spoke and...he had to go. My trousers were pushed down over my hips, my panties wet not only from our activity but from his mouth, and he had to go?

“Go? I don’t understand.” My once heated skin cooled as if I’d been blasted with an avalanche of snow.

He closed his eyes, curled his hands into fists and swallowed as though it was taking extreme effort not to jump on the bed and go back to what we were doing. Which would have been my vote and the absolute right choice.

“I’m sorry, I can’t. I gotta get home. I didn’t expect for things to get this outta hand...” His words were tortured as was the expression on his handsome face.

I frowned, lifted my hips and pulled my trousers back up. I rolled over so my back faced him as I covered my chest. I sidestepped off the bed and saw my robe dangling on the counter of the bureau. I grabbed it with shaky fingers and tucked my arms into it. Behind me I could hear Kyson shuffling around for his clothes.

“Isa, seriously, if I really didn’t have to go, wild horses wouldn’t be able to keep me away from you. I just... Shit, I can’t get into it right now. It’s my alarm, meaning it’s eleven and I have to get home. I’ll uh, explain later...”

I spun around, lifted my chin and held the robe lapels up at my neck to ensure every horrified naked inch of me was covered. “You’ll tell me later? Why not now?”

He shook his head and put his arms through his dress shirt, the discarded tank twisted in one of his fists. He left the buttons open so I could still see his golden chest on display. My mouth watered at the sight of the smattering of dark hair sprinkled across his pecs and running a line down the center of his cut abdominals where it got thicker, dipping into his pants. I had very much hoped to see the rest, free of his pants, and run my fingers through all that beautiful fuzz but no, he had to go.

“Is it me? Did I...do something wrong?” My bottom lip trembled, and he stomped over to where I stood. He curled a hand around my cheek and lifted my jaw.

“You are by far the most perfect woman. Never doubt that. Every kiss, every touch of your hand, set me on fire, baby. I’m burning for you.” His gaze held mine and I could see the sincerity, but it was in direct conflict with his actions and that did not make sense.

“Then why are you going?” My words were small, wounded.

He sighed and closed his eyes, pressing his forehead to mine. “There’s still much to learn about me. And I hope to share those things, but right now I can’t. I’m already late. I have to go...”

I nodded, trying to hold on to the emotions that were ready to burst free in a deluge of tears and uncertainty the second he left.

Until he dipped his head and kissed me—hard, fast and with enough of his tongue that I started to lose myself in him again, and then he regrettably pulled away.

“Can I take you out this weekend? I have to work Friday and Saturday but how about Sunday brunch?”

He was asking me out again. So I definitely didn’t do something wrong; he just really had to go. I just wished he’d tell me why instead of leaving me to my own devices, which will ultimately lead to a full freak out and the consumption of a gallon of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Cherry Garcia was the best at soaking up sorrow and heartache, and I had a brand-new gallon in my freezer.

“Only if you let me cook for you,” I said, not believing my own response. What in the heck was wrong with me?

He grinned and shook his head. “Definitely not like any woman I’ve ever known. Thank God.” He kissed me briefly. “Sunday brunch here works perfect. I’ll make sure we’re not interrupted.” I pursed my lips. “Thank you for a great evening, Isa,” he murmured before letting me go and heading for the door.

   “Oh, wait...”

“Baby, I really gotta go,” he said again, his voice strained.

I dashed to the kitchen counter where I had a Tupperware tub filled with large, chunky, chocolate chip cookies. “I made them for you,” I whispered, and he smiled, taking the tub.

“My sweet Isabeau. Thank you, honey. Now lock this behind you. I’ll text you tomorrow and we’ll decide a time for Sunday.”

I followed him out the door of the apartment and watched him head down the stairs. Suda Kaye’s door to the back had an auto-lock mechanism so I didn’t need to follow him out. When he hit the bottom, he turned and waved. “I had an amazing time. Best date I’ve been on.”

“Me, too.” I wiggled my fingers and stepped back into my apartment, shutting the door and locking it. I rested my back against the door and tried desperately to wrap my head around the past ten minutes.

What in the world had just happened?

* * *

Jasper pushed an overflowing cart down the aisle at Bed Bath & Beyond. We were shopping for towels, linens, housewares and everything else we’d need to start a new life in our new homes. We were mainly shopping for Jasper, since I had what Suda Kaye left. The kitchen and bathroom in his place were completely empty. When we first moved in a couple days ago, I’d given him some of what Suda Kaye had so he wouldn’t be missing any essentials. Now we were loading up.
