Wicked Heat (Chicago Heat #1)(30)
Author: Ella Frank

My cock stiffened beneath the covers as I read the words for the millionth time, and I reached down to massage my throbbing length.

Fuck, I had no idea what had possessed him to send this, but it was like he’d gotten inside my head and written down every single thought I’d had about him from the moment we met.

I’d been adamant when I moved in that nothing was going to happen between us—that had felt like the smart decision. So I’d been sure to do everything I could to keep him at arm’s length. But as I read over his words, and thought about the selfless way he’d looked after me, I realized that for the lie it was.

I wanted him. I’d wanted him from the moment I’d seen him at Jon’s. So there was no way I was letting this go. Not this time.

I could hear the shower running from across the apartment, then the water shutting off. A couple minutes later, a door opened and closed, and I knew Ryan was getting ready for work.

Not wanting to miss him before he left, I headed into the bathroom to wash up and get dressed, and since I didn’t have anywhere to go today, I beat him out to the kitchen, where I got the coffee started. I was just pouring myself a mug when Ryan stepped out into the kitchen and winced.

“Oh God, I never realized how bright these lights are.”

I glanced at the pendant lights that hung over the kitchen island. They were bright, but nothing out of the norm. But then I realized what the problem was—Ryan was hungover. Oh, he looked as sharp and sophisticated as ever in his suit. But his stubble was a little darker today, and his eyes a little red-rimmed.

Well, this was starting to make a whole lot more sense now.

I leaned back against the counter and took a sip of my coffee. “Late night?”

He groaned and walked over to the machine. “You mean it’s not still night?”

As Ryan grabbed a travel mug from the cupboard, I eyed him over the rim of my mug. He seemed a little tired, and must have a headache the size of Texas, considering the lights were bothering him. But other than that, he was acting like he always did around me.

There was no weirdness, no awkward oh my God, I’m sorry I sexted you last night. Nope, Ryan was acting as though everything was as it always was.

“Do anything fun last night?” I asked.

“Just the usual. Met up with my friends and had a few drinks,” he said as he shut the cupboard and took the lid off his mug.

“A few, huh?”

Ryan grimaced and turned my way. “Shit, was I loud when I came in? Did I keep you up?”

He’d kept me up, all right, but not the way he thought. It seemed Ryan had forgotten one thing in particular that he’d done last night.

Now this could be fun.

“I didn’t hear a thing. I went to bed early, read for a little, then fell asleep. Best sleep I’ve had in a week.”

“I believe that.” Ryan went back to preparing his coffee. “Did you read anything good?”

“I did.” I pulled out my phone and opened up the text. “Let me read you some. I think you’ll like it too.”

“Okay.”

“Okay, here goes. ‘Hey, Jameson, just texting to let you know I won’t be home until later tonight. I’m out with the guys…’”

As my words floated in the air between us, Ryan’s hand froze where he was screwing on the lid of his travel mug.

This was about to get all kinds of interesting.

“I also wanted to let you know something else, something I would never say to your face, buuut here goes. Ever since we met, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you.”

Ryan had gone still as a statue, his entire body tense, and I wondered if he was even breathing.

“I know you said nothing would happen between us, but that doesn’t mean I can’t imagine what it would be like, right? The way you’d kiss me, the way you’d touch me and take me? Because I’ve imagined it all. I imagine it every night. Like your kisses? Hmm—”

“Oh my God,” Ryan said, and then, fast as lighting, reached for my phone. “Give that to me.”

I tugged my hand free. “Now, why would I want to do that? It’s just getting interesting.”

“Jameson…”

The flush on his cheeks was so fucking sexy. But I wasn’t about to stop now.

“‘I bet they’d be a little rough. Would you suck on my lip? Bite it? Maybe you’d do both. I want you to.’”

“Please stop.” Ryan groaned and brought his hands up to his face. “I’ll pay you to stop.”

“There’s not enough money in the world, GQ.” I took a step forward, and Ryan took a step back.

“What are you doing?”

“Just getting a little closer.” I took another step. “I don’t want you to miss the next part.”

When Ryan’s ass hit the corner of the counter and he realized he was trapped, his eyes widened and he gripped the marble.

“Are you ready?”

“No.”

I lowered my eyes down his pristine suit then fingered his tie. “No?”

“Can’t you just delete it?”

“Hmm, I don’t think so. It’s a good instruction manual.”

“Instruction manual?”

I nodded and began to wind his tie around my hand until I had a good grip. “Yeah, on how to turn you on.”

Ryan sucked in a breath and bit down on his lip—the lip he wanted me to bite.

“Like this part here. Apparently you have a thing for my mouth. You seem to want it on every part of you. Let’s see, how’d you put it? ‘I can imagine you kissing your way down my neck, your lips sucking on my hot skin, and damn, Jameson, I’d just about die to feel you suck on my—’”

“Stop…” Ryan’s breathing was coming a little faster now.

“Stop?” I tugged on his tie until his head jerked forward a fraction, then I flicked my tongue over the corner of his lips. “I’m just fucking starting.”

I crushed my mouth down onto his with all the need and frustration that had built up in me since the moment I spotted him in Jon’s bar. I tossed my phone onto the counter and grabbed the back of his neck, then speared my tongue between his lips. Ryan’s hand landed on my chest, and when I thrust my hips forward, he dug his fingers into my shirt.

My cock was aching, throbbing inside my sweats like it had been all night, and I could feel his erection hard against mine. As I devoured his mouth, I rocked forward into him. Then I released my grip on his neck and smoothed my hand down his side to his ass. I squeezed the tight, round curve hidden behind the expensive material of his pants, and Ryan shoved his hips forward and tore his mouth free.

“Shit.” His head fell back against the cupboard as I began to kiss and bite my way along his jaw to his ear.

“Is this how you imagined it? My mouth on you, my cock fucking hard for you?”

“Yes…”

I flicked his earlobe with the tip of my tongue. Then he turned his head, those gorgeous eyes dark with arousal. I needed another taste.

I took his lips again, harder this time, determined to tease every single inch of his mouth as he smoothed his hand down my chest to the bottom of my shirt. He slipped his fingers into the elastic of my sweats, and I groaned, knowing what he wanted. But unfortunately, he had a job to get to this morning, and this was where things had to end.
