I cut him off, placing a finger over his lips. “Mia is a joy. I want to get to know her and you better. I know this isn’t a conventional relationship, Simon. That if we progress, I would become her, ah, step—”

He shook his head, this time silencing me. “You would become her mom, Amy. I already know your heart. There would be no step in anything. For either of you. We would be a family.”

His words brought tears to my eyes. “How do you feel about adding to that family?” I asked.

“As in having more children with you? Sign me up, Chippy. I’ll practice getting you pregnant until we get it right.”

I laughed at him. “Can we take this one step at a time, Simon? Yesterday, I thought we were done. Today, you’re going a million miles an hour.”

He sobered and sat up, pulling me onto his lap. “I’m just laying it out there, Amy. I’m not looking for casual. I can’t do casual with you. You make me feel too much. I see a future, and I want you to know that.”

“I do. And frankly, I want it too. But we need to make sure we’re thinking clearly and include Mia in all of this.”

He smiled and bent his head, kissing me. “That right there proves my point.”

I snuggled into his chest, and he leaned back, holding me close.

“I want you to stay,” he urged after a few moments of silence.

“Mia—”

“Sleeps like the dead. She’ll be up by seven, but you can leave before. I just want to hold you tonight.”

There was nothing I wanted more than to stay and be held by Simon. To wake up with him wrapped around me, safe and warm in his arms.

“Just to hold me?” I repeated.

“Well, I can try,” he admitted.

I laughed quietly, already feeling his lack of success. I shifted on his lap, and he hissed.

“If you keep moving, my efforts will be in vain,” he protested.

“Shut up and take me to bed.”

Moments later, I was naked and under him. His skin slid against mine, our bodies moving as if they’d known each other for decades. Our hands caressed and touched. Our mouths melded together, muffling the groans and whimpers, keeping our coupling private. He settled between my spread legs, burying himself inside me and taking me hard. Hitting that spot only he had ever discovered. He thrust powerfully, my orgasm sweeping over me fast. I screamed into his mouth, shaking and thrashing under him. He broke away, his hot mouth at my ear. “You’re going to give me another one, Amy. Then I’m going to come, and you’re going to join me. You hear me?”

He slipped his hand between us, toying with my clit. I arched at his touch, another pinnacle bearing down on me quickly. I tightened around him, and he chuckled against my throat, biting lightly at the juncture of my neck.

“Now with me,” he groaned, moving faster, pinning me to the mattress, his fingers and cock working in tandem.

“I can’t,” I whimpered.

“Oh, baby, you can,” he replied, suddenly rearing back and pulling me up his thighs, his cock sliding in deeper and sending me spiraling into another dimension.

He got what he wanted. I clapped my hand over my mouth as I climaxed. He cursed and groaned low in his throat, riding me until he was done. His orgasm was a sight to see. His head fell back, his muscles taut and flexing as he pumped his hips, filling me. He shuddered, then stilled, his head sinking to his chest.

“Fuck,” he muttered.

I sighed, my body exhausted after three intense orgasms. I ran my hand over his torso.

“Yeah,” I agreed. “Wow.”

Then he lifted his head, his eyes dancing. “See—no control.”

“Set the alarm,” I reminded him, my eyes beginning to close.

He rolled over, pulling me into his arms. I heard him mumble to Siri, and I was out.

CHAPTER NINE

AMY

The next morning, I woke up, looking around in panic. It was still early, but the alarm hadn’t gone off. With a low curse, I flung off the heavy arm trapping me and slid out from under the covers. I grabbed my clothes, pulling them on as Simon sat up, watching me, confused.

“Your alarm didn’t work.”

“Shit,” he muttered, sliding from bed. He opened his door, peering into the hall. “She’s still asleep. Her door is closed.”

“Okay.”

We crept down the steps, pausing by the door. He pulled me in for a kiss. “Why do I feel like a teenager about to be caught by my parents?” he whispered.

“Your parents would be easier to handle than—”

My words were cut off by Mia’s excited voice.

“Where are you going?”

We turned as one, staring at the pajama-clad figure standing by the kitchen island.

“Um,” I began, unsure what to say.

“I have the pancake stuff ready,” Mia said. “Holly always makes pancakes for sleepovers.”

“What?” Simon asked.

She stepped forward. “I got up and saw Amy in your bed, so I know you had a sleepover. Holly always says sleepovers are fun times and deserve pancakes, so I got the stuff out.”

Fun times? That was one way to describe it.

“I thought you were still asleep,” Simon replied, running a hand through his hair.

“I shut my door because Mr. Bear was still sleeping. But I’m up.” She looked at us quizzically. “Don’t you want pancakes? Wasn’t your sleepover fun?”

I burst out laughing, because there was nothing else to do. Fun times had been had aplenty. I’d stayed, and we’d made love again, with Simon’s wandering hands finding me in the night two more times. In trying to sneak out, we’d been busted.

And now we had to have pancakes to celebrate that.

I dropped my purse. “I love pancakes. And it was pretty fun. Your daddy snores, though.”

Mia’s eyes widened. “I know!”

“Hey,” Simon protested. “I don’t snore.”

“You can sleep with me next time. Or in the guest room. I guess Daddy was too lazy to make up the bed.” She shook her head. “He hates making the bed.”

I tried not to laugh again. She was adorable and funny.

Simon huffed under his breath. “She sleeps with me when she’s here. That’s the rule.”

“I don’t get much sleep with you. Maybe the guest room is a good idea,” I teased, keeping my voice low.

“I don’t think so,” Simon growled.

I met his dancing gaze. He was thrilled we’d been busted. In fact, I wondered if he had set an alarm at all. I narrowed my eyes and he grinned. He was never going to admit it even if the sneaky man had planned this.

“You do snore,” I said, just to piss him off.

“Yes, you do,” Mia agreed. “Big snores, Daddy.”

“Whatever,” he muttered. He leaned close and kissed my ear. “You make noises too. But those ones I like.”

I slapped him away and took Mia’s hand. “Do you like peanut butter on your pancakes?”

“Peanut butter?” she repeated. “With syrup too?”

“Yep.”

“Oh, can I try, Daddy?”
