Never Trust the Living (Battle Crows MC #7)(44)
Author: Lani Lynn Vale

It was weird how my passion for fixing people’s minds had changed as my mind had healed. Now, the desire to fix peoples’ bodies… that was my next exciting adventure.

I couldn’t wait to see how it went.

And I was glad that Bram was giving me whatever I wanted.

As per his words: you deserve anything I can give you.

That’s exactly what he did, too. He gave me everything.

My every want, desire, and need were met.

He was there every single step of the way.

The Next Day

“Whoa, what the fuck?”

I looked up to find a child streaking across the driveway half naked.

“Will’s nieces are fuckin’ fiends,” Bram grumbled. “My child will never be that wild.”

I snorted.

His child was already that wild.

Especially when his child got around all of the rest of the Crow nieces and nephews.

“You’re so full of shit.” I laughed as I glanced backward into the back seat.

Harker was dead to the world, asleep in his car seat.

Just like usual the moment he hit the car.

But the moment that we parked, he’d be wide awake, and ready to be passed to every biker or ol’ lady in the vicinity.

Today we were celebrating Easton’s birthday, and we were having it out at the compound that the Crows built to be indestructible and impenetrable.

A few weeks after my debacle, I’d come home to a pow wow happening at my kitchen table.

That pow wow was the discussion of a home base for all the Crow club members and family to gather. While on the outside it appeared to be a cabin built for royalty, on the inside it was a reinforced shelter decorated to look like a five-star resort.

There was everything from an inside pool to a hot tub and sauna. There was even a freakin’ gun range, and a bowling alley.

Pretty much if shit hit the fan and we all had to descend on it en masse, we would be able to keep ourselves and our children entertained for weeks on end.

“I’m full of shit,” he admitted. “I do need to visit the bathroom.”

I rolled my eyes.

The only reason he had to ‘poop’ was because his son filled his diaper at some point, and it was smelling up the car.

If he had to ‘poop,’ that meant that I would be the one to deal with Harker’s diaper.

Which was exactly what happened.

Bram bailed out of the car with a laugh, and I dealt with Harker’s dirty diaper on the tailgate of the truck.

After making sure he had shoes on, despite not being able to walk, I walked up to the gathering with him and smiled at the first person to meet us.

Shine.

He took Harker and winked. “Bram said to meet you in your room.”

I rolled my eyes, waved at everyone I passed and exchanged a few hugs, and met Bram in our ‘room’ at the compound.

I found him lying backward on the bed, shirtless, and waiting for me.

Things started to tingle inside of me at his shirtless state.

“You’re a shit,” I told him.

He grinned and held his hand out to me.

Instead of going immediately to him, I closed and locked the door, then slowly stripped until I was in nothing but the small G-string thong that I’d put on especially for him.

Although, I thought he’d find out that I was wearing it after he slipped his hand up my dress. Not after ditching me for a poop.

His eyes went intense as he looked at my attire.

“New underwear?” he asked.

I hooked a finger into both sides and slowly stripped myself down until I was naked.

His eyes flared even hotter.

“Come ‘ere,” he ordered.

I went, knowing exactly what was about to happen.

BRAM

“It’s been an hour, bro,” Shine grumbled as he handed my son off to me.

I curled my arm around Harker’s butt and brought him up to my lips, giving him a sloppy kiss on the neck that made him squeal in delight.

“Awww,” Iris and Banger sang. “How sweet!”

I smiled and moved to the only empty seat, the one beside Gracelynn.

“How’s it going?” I asked her, eyeing her hands.

Gracelynn had gotten new prosthetics, and she hated them.

I thought they were pretty damn cool, as did Harker, who immediately reached for the closest one.

Gracelynn let him explore her hand for a few seconds before saying, “I’m getting used to them. I’m not sure they’re worth the hefty price tag, though.”

“They’re worth it,” Jeremiah contradicted her. “She can pick her fuckin’ nose with it if she wants to, they’re so precise. We’re keeping them, even if I have to sell about ten thousand more cupcakes to do it.”

“Speaking of cupcakes,” Dory said as she came to lean against my shoulder, her arm going around the edge of my chair. “What the hell are these?”

“Oreo fudge,” Jeremiah said. “They were Gracie’s idea. They’re also a bestseller this week.”

“I can imagine,” Dory sighed. “They’re amazing. I’ll bet they go straight to my hips.”

“God, I hope so,” I teased.

Dory hadn’t gained a single pound since the baby.

In fact, if anything, she was even more toned and smaller than she had been before. But only because she’d found a new love of working out.

Something that I loved to do with her, too. But only in the comfort of our own home. Having men ogle her was seriously annoying as fuck.

“Tease.” She bumped me with her hip before saying, “What’s next week’s new flavor?”

Everyone talked with Dory and Gracelynn about The Sweet Spot. Meanwhile, I allowed Harker to play with my phone while I watched Dory.

She’d changed so much since last year.

I’d changed, too.

And every single change had shaped our lives into something so perfect that sometimes I woke up and thought I was still dreaming.

Each day that passed, it felt like it couldn’t get any better.

Yet, it always did.

Leaning back in the chair a little bit farther, I brought Harker to one side, and then pulled Dory down to the other leg.

She wrapped her arm around my neck and kept talking, like this was the most normal thing in the world.

It was. And forever would be.

EPILOGUE

First of all… eat a dick.

BRAM

“Don’t. Move,” I said to the kids.

Both sleepy, blue-eyed children looked at me as if I was whacked in the head.

“Daddy,” Harker said tiredly. “We just walked twenty-thousand steps through Magic Kingdom. Do you really think that we’re going to go anywhere after doing that?”

Harker had a point.

Honestly, I’d like to join him on the bed.

In fact, I would… after.

The only thing was, I hadn’t had a taste of my wife in three and a half days.

We were on day three of our ‘magical’ vacation to Disney.

“Just don’t do anything crazy while we’re taking our shower,” I told my eight-year-old son.

He gave a thumb up, rolled over, and buried his face into his pillow.

Our other son, Lonan, which meant ‘Little Black Bird’ in Gaelic, didn’t even move.
