Hot!_ A Charity Anthology(35)
Author: Michelle Mankin

I turn to Mason, who shrugs.

“That’s up to you, kitten. This is your night.”

“I don’t know.” I’m unsure what to do, but something churns inside me demanding some kind of action. Not sexual. Purely emotional. “Please return it to her, though. And thank her, too. She was lovely.”

“No problem.” Shay squeezes my shoulder, then releases her hold. “Make sure you both take time for aftercare. It’s necessary with a first-time event like this. You guys need to talk and express your feelings. Most prefer to do that in private, so don’t feel obliged to stick around because you haven’t been down here long.”

“Hey.” Mason’s tone holds offence. “I’ll have you know that we were down here for a sexually acceptable amount of time. Whenever we decide to depart, I want it known that it wasn’t premature.”

She grins. “I wasn’t making fun of your endurance. Just letting you both know there’s no pressure on where you go from here.”

“And we both appreciate it.” I give him a playful scowl. “Thanks for everything.”

She winks and spins on her toes to saunter toward the bar. “It was my pleasure.”

I remain in place as she leaves, feeling her departure like the loss of a security blanket.

She made me feel at home amongst vulnerability. Alive in the face of fear. She also made all this seem normal. Playful, not sleazy or shameful.

“Come here, kitten.” Mason leans forward to tug me to my feet. “Let me hug you.”

He drags me onto his lap where he wraps me in his arms. “Are you okay?” he murmurs.

“Yes. But I’m appreciating the prospect of this aftercare she spoke of. I think we need to chat through what just happened.”

“Because you didn’t enjoy it?” His brows pull tight. “I thought—”

“I thoroughly enjoyed it. But I still think it’s necessary to discuss what all this means. Does it change anything? Is this the new norm?”

He nods. “I understand.”

“Does that mean you’re happy to leave?”

“It sure does. I already got what I came for.”

I huff a sardonic laugh. “An orgasm?”

“No, kitten.” He grazes his fingertips along my jaw. “That was a bonus. The spark currently in your eyes is what I was hoping for.”

My humor fades under appreciation. Under overwhelming gratitude. “I’m so lucky to have you.”

“I know.” He winks. “You won the fiancé lottery.”

I clap a hand across his chest. “Is that Playboy Lynch I hear in your tone?” I push from his lap and grab his hand to drag him up with me. “Is his royal arrogance making a return?”

“Why not?” He smirks. “You liked when Lee did it this afternoon.”

“Lyndon really got under your skin, didn’t he?”

“Not at all.”

“Liar.” I chuckle and start for the entry leading to the change rooms, not bothering to give Shay and Leo a finger wave seeing as though they’re aggressively making out over the bar. “If flying me across the country and taking me to a sex club is the result of a little platonic attention, I can’t wait to see what you do when I catch up with him again on Monday.”

His laugh is wicked. “We might change gears from sex clubs to spankings. How does that sound?”

A shiver skitters down my back, awakening every nerve along the way. “I say, bring it on.”

CHAPTER 1

Hendrix

“What the …” a female voice yells through our home.

“This is worse than I thought,” a male voice joins her in agreement.

“They can’t keep acting like this, Chris.”

“I know, babe. They’ve been through a lot, though.”

“It’s been six months since the accident. They are pissing their lives away,” the female states angrily.

The mere mention of the accident has my stomach rolling like a stormy sea. I crack a bleary eye open and concentrate on the fuzzy images in front of my vision. Slowly, the two silhouettes come into focus. Vanessa and Christian from our label, Dirty Texas Records, are standing in our living room, not looking happy with the scene before them.

“They lost their brother. Their friend. Their bandmate, Ness,” Christian explains softly to his wife. “If I’d lost one of the Dirty Texas guys, I, too, would be like this.”

Silence stretches between them like being in the eye of a hurricane.

“We need to do something. I will not sit back and watch them destroy everything they’ve all worked so damn hard for. They are too talented for this shit,” Vanessa states angrily.

“What are you guys doing here?” Eli mumbles while rubbing the night before from his eyes.

“Glad to see you’re alive,” Vanessa declares sarcastically as she folds her arms across her chest.

“Barely.” Eli chuckles as he reaches down and scratches his balls right in front of them.

Christian’s eyes narrow on my friend, who doesn’t look pleased.

“You missed your appointment at the studio,” Vanessa reminds Eli.

“We had an appointment?” he asks as his brows pull together. Eli sounds confused. It seems his mind hasn’t caught up with his bewilderment.

“Did Alice not remind you?” Vanessa asks.

Alice is our assistant, and she’s supposed to get us to and from places on time. But, in all honesty, she’s a groupie, being more concerned about fucking us than doing her job efficiently or effectively.

“Um …” Eli rubs his bloodshot eyes and blinks a few times. “No.”

“Where the hell is she?” Vanessa questions.

“Last time I saw her, she was riding Zeke,” Eli explains.

Vanessa’s shoulders sag in defeat. “We have to get rid of her,” she whispers to her husband.

Christian nods.

It’s a shame she has to go because Alice is a lot of fun. Maybe not responsible but definitely a lot of fun. Plus, her mouth is like a damn hoover. She’s also a convenient fuck, when we can’t be bothered going out or are too drunk to make it past our front gates. The woman is always ready and willing. She doesn’t care if we fuck her separately or together as long as we are fucking her.

“Monday morning, I want to see you all in my office,” Vanessa tells Eli sternly. The attitude is take-no-shit, and I guess I don’t blame her.

“Sure,” he agrees instantly.

“I mean it!” Vanessa points at him. “If you don’t show up on Monday, I will have no option but to terminate your contract.”

Now those words gain our attention.

“What?” Eli sits up on the couch. “You wouldn’t?”
