“All tests show negative for the Lycan markers.” For now. Erryn intended to keep an eye on the baby because the fact Honey reacted so violently to the moon had to mean something.
“Meaning the Lycanthropy was not passed on despite the child being male.”
“Maybe. It might be years before we know for sure. I recommend monitoring on the full moons until the child reaches adulthood.”
“Obviously.” Then after a pause. “Was there something else you wanted?”
An apology for not listening to her about getting rid of the Viper cancer in the Cabal midst would have been nice, but she knew better than to expect accolades from this group. Instead, she asked for something they could give. “I want the funding and permission to seek out other possible live births.”
Her demand was met with laughter. “You think there are rogue Lycans roaming the world?”
While some mocked, a raspy voice, however, said, “Let’s say you’re correct. How would you find them?”
“From my research, I’ve isolated a few genetic markers that might be pointers. Running them against databases from the around the world I’ve made some hits.” The ancestry DNA kits provided a treasure trove once their databases were hacked.
“You’ve contacted outsiders?” a huffed accusation.
“Never, but with your permission, I’d like to observe some of the people flagged to see if I’m correct.”
“Very well. But not alone.”
She frowned. “I don’t need help.”
“Given the information you have, and the danger you might encounter, this isn’t an option. We’ll send a Cabal operative to join you.”
It shouldn’t have surprised her when she got a call from the very annoying Quinn, who sounded amused as he said, “Hey, Doc. I hear you need a bodyguard.”
