TAKE TWO_ Who says you can't marry the same mistake twice(36)
Author: Heather M. Orgeron

One chiseled brow shoots up, his interest piqued.

Channeling my inner Meg Ryan, I do my best to recreate the infamous scene from When Harry Met Sally. I lock eyes with his, holding his stare as I grip the sides of the table. I roll my neck, starting out with a soft whimper and progress to full on moaning. Tossing my head back, I start to run my hands along my cleavage and into my hair. “Yes! Yes! Yes!” The glass dishes rattle as I quake through my feigned orgasm, slamming my fists on the wood while my body jerks.

Damn, I’m good. I should have been an actress.

Leave it to the asshole to crush my dreams when he finally speaks after a prolonged pause. “Don’t ever try that for real.”

“What?” I fling a zucchini at his chest. “You’re supposed to say, ‘I’ll have what she’s having.’”

“You look like you’re dying of food poisoning.” He snorts. “I’ll pass.”

My eyes roll. “You’re just being an ass. You’d never know.”

Now he’s bowled over laughing. “Damn right I’ll never know, because I would never give you a reason to fake it.”

“Every woman fakes it at some point.” I don’t tell him that I never have with him—possibly with every other man I’ve ever been with—but never Liam. I’ll keep that tidbit to myself. Lord knows his head is big enough.

His tongue darts out to wet his lips, and he leans across the table. “If they’re as bad as that, then they aren’t fooling anyone.”

My jaw drops.

With a wink he reaches out a finger to tuck my chin back up. “No worries. I’ll be happy to show you the difference. I’ll fuck you good when we get back to the room…have you screaming my name and gasping for air, your jaw trembling while you beg me to stop in one breath and cry out for more in the next.” He bites down on his lip and nods like he’s imagining it, and my pulse skyrockets. “I’ll have your body convulsing with pleasure while your nails break the skin on my back.” His lips slowly stretch into a satisfied grin, and he balls his napkin, dropping it on top of his plate. His throat clears, his eyes suddenly hooded with desire. “Ready?”

The last few days have been spent doing all the touristy things. We climbed Mt. Otemanu and saw the most picturesque views of the island. Everywhere you turned it was like looking at a postcard. It was not an easy hike, but so worth the end result. We have the most amazing photos to share with Ellie when we get home. We rented motorized scooters and went into Vaitape, the largest city on Bora Bora, to hunt down the infamous black pearls. There we ended up dropping a small fortune on necklaces for our mothers, Hannah, Ellie, and, of course, me. We went snorkeling at the coral reefs and Jet Skiing, which was quite possibly my favorite excursion of all.

All of the exploring has been amazing, but I’m so looking forward to our last three days of lounging around, swimming off our deck, feeding each other ridiculously overpriced room service, and feasting on one another whenever the mood strikes.

“Don’t forget your book.” Liam fishes around in his suitcase for his. I recognize it as the latest in a long series of murder mysteries by his favorite author. He adds his black-framed sexy nerd glasses to his face and drapes a beach towel around his neck. His chest is bare, glistening with lotion, and his delectable little happy trail disappears into a pair of sea green board shorts. This man… it should be a crime to look so good. I can hardly keep my focus on anything else. How is he not causing accidents every place he goes?

Liam clears his throat when he catches me staring, and I rush to grab the novel I started yesterday, Rebel Soul, by LK Farlow. An arranged-baby romantic comedy between a sexy as fuck CEO and red-headed, tattooed vixen sounds right up my alley. After adding it to my beach tote, I throw a sheer cover-up over my bright orange bikini, pile my hair on top of my head in a messy bun, and slip into a pair of flip-flops. “Let’s go.”

We head out to a secluded area we passed by yesterday filled with tropical foliage and hammocks hanging from giant palms. There isn’t another soul in sight as we curl ourselves into a double. I wrap my leg over his, resting my head in the crook of his arm. He tips my face up to his and places a chaste kiss on my nose.

“Enjoy your porn.” He winks, knowing it ticks me off when he refers to my romance novels as such.

“Plan on it,” I say before elbowing him in the ribs for his little dig. I get a mouthwatering glimpse of his dimples and stark white teeth before his lips press a kiss to the top of my head and he opens his book.

I can’t help but spend a few minutes enjoying the view: Liam with his dark hair, wind-blown into a sexy mess. His sun-kissed cheeks. How hot he looks with his crystal eyes intently fixed on his reading material. The way his lip tugs into a hint of a smile every so often has my stomach in a flutter. There’s something incredibly sensual about watching a man read for pleasure.

“If you wanna go back to the room we can…” His smooth voice cuts through my dazed state. He reaches down, adjusting his semi in his shorts.

I smile sweetly. “Nope. Was just enjoying the scenery for a moment.”

I make a point to look around at the bright blue sky and teal waters to make as if he hasn’t been my sole focus before opening my book back to the spot I fell asleep on last night. A few minutes in and I nearly fall out of the hammock laughing.

“What’s so funny?” Liam sets his open book face down on his chest. “I wanna laugh too.”

“Woo… I… Oh my God, this book!” I can’t catch my breath.

He stares at me expectantly.

“Well, there’s this girl, Stacia, right? And she’s considering all sorts of shady shit to earn the money to get her father out on bail…because he’s innocent…”

“I’m listening…”

“So, anyway, her friend suggests this porn app, Virtual Kitty.”

Now he’s sort of eying me like I’m insane as he waits for the hook.

“The tagline is, ‘Pick your kitty, watch her purr.’” I cannot stop laughing. I’m snorting and slapping my hand on his chest. “It’s live porn. Like…they pick you and you perform for them. Get it? Purr-form?”

He rolls his eyes, only mildly amused.

My stomach’s starting to hurt from the force of my guffaws. “Dude, it’s funny! You’d have to read it I gue—”

Coconut

Holy Shit! “Nya, are you okay?” A fear like I’ve never before experienced chills my veins. She was just laying here laughing her ass off and then out of nowhere a huge coconut dropped from above, knocking her on the head. Before I could even react, she went tumbling backward out of the hammock into the sand.

When I read that death via falling coconut was more likely than being bitten by a shark, I never imagined either of us actually being hit by one.

Why the fuck didn’t I think to check the trees before we camped out beneath them?

My legs get tangled up and I trip, eating a mouthful of sand as I rush to get to her. Of all times for there not to be a single other person around… “Babe! Nya?” I kneel over her sprawled-out body, checking her eyes for I don’t even know what. My heart is beating a mile a minute. I can’t stop touching her. She already has a huge knot protruding from her head, but she’s moaning and breathing so I think that’s good.
