See No Evil(38)
Author: Ivy Fox

“It’s been just two days since we saw each other, Finn. You’re not catching feelings, now are you?” I joke, but my tone sounds as if the idea of such a thing were worse than catching an infectious disease.

“It’s not like that,” he counters defensively, this time being man enough to look me in the eye.

 Now that’s more like it.

I take a minute to answer him because, damn, he’s pretty. I mean, men shouldn’t be this fucking pretty. It makes smart girls do stupid things, and I’m way too smart to be this stupid. But still, I take my time to give him a once-over and let my eyes enjoy the view for a minute.

If I lick him, could I claim him?

Cause I definitely wouldn’t mind licking those abs from top to bottom.

Sweet baby Jesus. He’s too damn gorgeous for his own good.

“Stop looking at me like that. I told you, I just wanted to see you. That’s all,” he explains, completely misreading why I’m gawking at him.

“I sure hope so because you might be cute, but I don’t do feelings,” I warn him, making it clear where I’m at and hoping to God Almighty he didn’t see me drool there a second ago.

 “Neither do I.”

“Good to know.” I throw him the first smile as his reward for giving me the right—and only—answer worth my time. “So, what can I get you?”

“As long as it comes from a bottle, anything will do.”

I grab him a beer and slide the bottle back to him, ignoring the other customers at the counter who also want their liquor. They can wait. Pretty boy here can’t.

 “That will be fifteen dollars.”

“Last time, it was six.” He furrows his brow.

“Last time you didn’t have the pleasure of my company, now did you? Consider it tax.” I smile sweetly, batting my eyelashes at him.

He passes me a twenty, and I start heading to grab his change, only for him to tell me to keep the rest.

 Don’t mind if I do.

I watch him clean the bottle ring with his shirt, looking like he’s afraid of getting an STD just by wrapping his lips around it. The urge to tease him is strong, but another customer calls out to me, so I lose my shot at busting Finn’s balls for his cautious ways, which is a shame since I kind of like seeing him all riled up. I’ve seen firsthand what a little fire burning in his veins does to him, so it’s just too delicious and tempting to pass up.

Before I know it, I’m deep in rush hour on autopilot. You wouldn’t think a place like this has a rush hour, but it most certainly does. Everyone from this side of town knows Big Jim’s is the place you want to be at to blow off some steam after a long-ass day of underpaid work.

I have to say, I’m kind of happy that Big Jim let me switch to bar duty this week since the demand makes the time pass quicker. I’m so occupied that I totally forget that pretty boy is squirming away at the far end of the bar counter. I only remember his presence every time he asks for another beer, enabling me to make a few extra bucks off him. A better woman than me would feel remorse in taking advantage of him, but if I have to pick between dignity and an empty stomach, then it’s an easy decision to make.

It does make me wonder why he’s here at all, though. My bet is that his usual groupies aren’t cutting it for him anymore, and he thought he’d get his kicks with an easy, white-trash blowjob. I’m fine with a booty call, and pretty boy isn’t just nice to look at since he definitely has some moves on him in the bedroom department.

The only thing is, he’s a distraction I don’t have the luxury to indulge in. I’ve got too much on my plate as it is. Sure, I still have my sex drive on high alert, but nothing I can’t fix with my trusty vibrator and a bit of good old-fashioned Tumblr porn. Getting off solo means I don’t have to deal with clingy-ass guys who always end up blowing up my phone, demanding my time, and getting pissed off when I don’t have any fucks to give.

Although, Finn doesn’t strike me as the needy kind. If he were, his ass would have been sitting in that precise spot he is now the very next day we bumped uglies. But he wasn’t. All he sent was one lousy text all weekend.

Can’t stop thinking about fucking that bratty mouth. We should do this again.

Any other girl would probably be offended by it. Me, though? After he planted that mental picture into my skull, I had to take out the above-mentioned vibrator and put it to good use. I came good and hard, picturing pretty boy here making my mouth his fuck toy. See? A distraction.

Finn showing up tonight might spark up my curiosity, but not enough that I want to spend my precious time thinking about it. As I said, I’ve got too much going on—finishing up school, my mom, my internship, and my goddamn life to worry about. And as much as I’d like nothing better than to lose myself for a couple of hours straddled over his tree trunk of a body, it’s just time taken away from more important matters. A girl has to have her priorities in check if she wants to make it in this world.

When the night starts to dwindle down, and most of the clientele have had their fill, my eyes lock on Finn, who is playing around with the napkin, the one I gave him to swipe his beer bottle with, rather than using his shirt all the time.

“Okay, pretty boy. You’ve been here long enough. I think it’s time you called it a night. You look like you’re bored out of your mind.”

“Can I get another beer?” he asks, instead of doing as he’s told.

 “Are you driving?”

Finn had six beers already, and although he’s a big guy, I don’t know how much tolerance he has for his liquor.

“No. Going to call an Uber.”

I can’t help but laugh. As if an Uber was going to come to this side of town to pick his ass up.

 “Good luck with that.”

I fetch him another beer, and since things have slowed down, I take a minute to talk to him. I lean against the counter, stripping the empty beer bottle of its logo, and ask, “Why did you come tonight? Not only do you not belong here, but you also look like you don’t want to be here either. So why waste your night slumming it up in a place like this?”

“I just needed to see you,” he mumbles, taking a swig of the bottle, his light-blue eyes intent on mine.

“You already said that. But why?”

“I don’t have a reason to tell you,” he explains incoherently, taking a larger pull of his beer this time.

“Oh boy, I think you drank more than I should have let you.”

It’s my fault, really. Any other guy I would have cut off earlier, but I made at least eighty bucks off Finn, which is more than enough to fill up my fridge and still have some left over for my mom. I either got distracted or greedy. Take your pick.

“It’s okay. I told you I didn’t bring my car,” he tries to pacify me.

“Why not? Were you worried someone would steal it?”

“Something like that,” he admits, and I can’t help but laugh. “I like how you laugh,” he adds in a sultry tone, his fixed gaze dropping to my lips, making my insides start to liquefy.
