“Jesse?” I hiss.
Hutton nods. “Yeah, she says he’s the father.”
“Fuck,” I grunt. “He’s coming tonight.”
“I know. She doesn’t want anyone to tell him. I don’t know when she’s going to, but she told me that she wants to be the one to tell him.”
I frown, tugging her a bit closer to me. Dipping my chin, I touch my mouth to hers. “Tomorrow is about us, darlin’ girl. I won’t say anything tomorrow, but Jesse has a right to know and if she doesn’t say something before he leaves town, she better realize that I will tell him.”
Hutton gulps with a short nod. “Okay,” she breathes against my lips. “Kiss me, Beaumont.”
“No.” I smile. “Not until you’re mine, officially.”
She lets out the cutest growl as I release her and take a step back. Holding out my hand, I take her fingers with mine, intertwining them, and together we spend the rest of the evening surrounded by our closest friends and family.
Tomorrow our lives change, although the real change happened the moment that I saw her again, a few months ago across the old dusty honky-tonk, standing next to Ford. She flipped me on my ass, stole my heart all over again and never looked back.
Fuck me, I’m goddamn grateful for it too.
I’m ready to start the second half of my life with the woman at my side.
The woman that should have been here all along.
The one that I stupidly pushed away.
Never again.
