Varnog (Xian Warriors #6)(42)
Author: Regine Abel

I thought I would die with pleasure when the wet warmth of her tight sheath closed around me as I pushed myself in. Her blissful moan and the throaty sound of her breathing resonated straight in my loins. My entire nether region was ablaze with searing waves of pleasure, and a rabid desire threatened to break my frayed control. To be one with my Linette without barriers at long last... To feel her unequivocal joy to finally bond with me… To be swallowed up in her infinite pleasure compounded by my own… They were all so many emotions and sensations robbing me of my sanity.

Spurred on by our mental connection demanding I unleash my passion, I never noticed when I picked up the pace. By the time I realized I was pounding into her with reckless abandon, my little Firefly was clawing at my back, chanting my name in a relentless litany as I wrested a second, then a third orgasm from her.

Just as my woman was achieving her fourth one, my own climax ripped through me with such violence it felt as if my spine was being torn right off in the most exquisite pleasure pain. I slammed myself home deep within my mate and roared as my seed shot out into her. Each spurt made my body shudder with pure ecstasy. I collapsed as the room spun around me. Half-dazed, I flipped us so that I wouldn’t crush Linette, and held her tightly in my embrace. Hearts pounding, breathing labored, and souls intimately intertwined, I wrapped my soulmate in the shelter of my love as sleep claimed us.

Chapter 13

Linette

The two weeks following the success of our mission turned out to be more like an extended honeymoon as we babysat the future leaders of Kryptor. Frankly, it was a little embarrassing how little work my mate and I personally had to do. The rebels were up to their eyeballs building propaganda videos that were sent to their homeworld through a complex relay system in order to hide its origins. I only had a couple of hours of flight a day scouting nearby space for potential enemies tracking us. Everything else was above my paygrade but kept Wrath, Rogue, and Reaper quite involved with the rebel leaders.

As expected, the kidnapping of the Queen had sent the Kryptid population into an uproar. The only reason their society hadn’t completely collapsed was the video sent by Queen Rahissa, exhorting her people to calm, but to rise against the treacherous General Khutu. She reassured them of her continued wellbeing and of the heroic steps that the Elder Workers had taken to ensure the future of the colony. As we had hoped, the presence of the Queen’s Guard surrounding her made an even more powerful impact.

In response, Khutu started sending reassuring recordings to the people, claiming that the Queen was unwell, as proven by the large number of sickly hatchlings she had been giving birth to. In a masterful move, he showed the young Queen Selixa, abducted months ago at the rebel base of the Northern Plains, and that he had cleverly kept hidden in a different location. She had just reached maturity, and her egg sack was already writhing with thousands of eggs. Despite that, looking at her, it was plain to see that she didn’t possess even remotely as strong a DNA as our still maturing young Queen Xerath did.

Nonetheless, and as much as they wanted to be rid of Khutu, whose unnatural lifespan and visible mutations creeped out the population, they still stood by him. Although it struck me as illogical, I understood that the Kryptid society relied on fundamentals. Without a Queen and General pair, the colony was doomed to a slow death. Until Queen Rahissa—or eventually Queen Xerath—could present a mature General as replacement, they would continue to follow the functional pair, no matter how weak the offspring.

But the fracture between the people and Khutu had expanded, making this a waiting game. According to the rebels still on Kryptor, the minute Daeko was able to reproduce, the entire population would rise against Khutu. We simply needed to bide our time. The rebels’ latest reports claimed Khutu still had not returned from wherever he had been when we stole the Queen’s ship. Based on the Queen’s Guard’s own reports, we had reason to believe he had recently undergone another one of his enhancement procedures and was unable to return until he had physically recovered.

We assumed that was the reason Khutu hadn’t mounted a more savage manhunt to track us down. It only played in our favor while the Workers continued to expand the defenses of our temporary base, work on their propaganda, and give us time to try and find him first.

In the meantime, good news had come our way with Sabra giving birth to her first son with Chaos, whom they appropriately named Ghost after her singular psychic ability. The new parents made us the most amazing surprise when a message came in asking my mate if he would do them the honor of being their boy’s godfather. It was the second time I’d seen my man tear up, which had me in a puddle. I had not realized the depth of the friendship that had formed between him and Sabra. We’d all assumed Legion or Doom would earn that role, but since Chaos had chosen Tabitha as the godmother, his wife got to pick the godfather.

Although it had not been a calculated move, but a choice genuinely driven by strong bonds of friendship and trust, it sent a powerful signal to all the residents of Khepri and members of the Coalition as to the valued standing of the Scelks.

With our duties done for the day, Varnog and I went back to enjoying our ‘honeymoon.’ Although the Dark Moon of Dogeer had nothing to offer in terms of tourism and romantic settings, who needed that when you were mated to one of the most powerful psychics in the galaxy? Any setting I wanted to visit, however exotic, my man recreated with mind-boggling realism. And yet, a lot of that time was spent furthering my flight training. With my skills significantly improving, we had gradually started combining those sessions with my man’s favorite activity: killing shit.

It had been adorable how worried he’d felt about confessing the reason for his hunts and just how violent and gory they could be. It saddened me to see how much he still feared and hated that part of himself. But I had made it one of my goals to get him to accept and embrace his nature without letting it control him.

There was nothing wrong with enjoying slaughtering enemies and blowing stuff up. After all, I had grown up playing first person shooters, butchering zombies and monsters of every possible denomination. His Dream Walks, however more realistic, were the ultimate virtual reality games. Best that pent up aggression be vented on dreamworld beings than on real ones.

Plus, I had quite the competitive streak.

In the first few sessions, Varnog had held himself in check, clearly self-conscious about the extent of the savagery he should display. But realizing what a vicious beast I turned into once you shoved a pair of blasters in my hand and lined up big, fat meanies to be obliterated, he started loosening up, and then his true beast came out. He was terrifying in his bloodlust, and it should have freaked me out beyond words. But it was the biggest turn on knowing I, and I alone, had tamed that beast.

It also seemed to do wonders for the strange mood he had been in the first few days following that rescue mission. Whatever had seemed to depress him lifted with each passing day. And now, two weeks later, he was full of joy and hopeful for the future awaiting us.

Despite our frenzied mating at every opportunity—my man had a thing about taking me against a wall—no changes or side effects had manifested themselves for me yet. Maybe it had been a false alarm, or maybe it would take a lot more time. Although, that wasn’t quite true. I did feel a little stronger, a little faster, indefinitely more alive than ever.
