What We Do in the Light (Day to Night #2)(49)
Author: Stylo Fantome

Valentine would've fallen if his arm hadn't been around her. As it was, they tripped across the dark living room, landing hard against what felt like a table. She gasped and put her hands behind her, propping herself upright as he pulled away. The door was kicked shut, leaving them in total darkness for a moment, and then the overhead light was switched on. She glanced around the room.

“You furnished it?”

They were in his empty apartment. Or at least, it had been empty the one and only time she'd been inside it. Now it was full of stuff, done in a similar style to his own apartment.

“I thought I was going to have to actually rent it out,” he explained, shrugging out of his jacket and letting it drop to the floor. “I figured it would be easier if it was furnished.”

“It's gorgeous,” she said, getting off the table while he kicked off his shoes.

“Thank you, I have excellent taste.”

She laughed and turned to watch as he yanked off his tie. When he started undoing his belt, she started snickering all over again.

“Someone's a little eager.”

“Valentine, in the past month, I've had sex a grand total of two times,” he reminded her, untucking his shirt and deftly unbuttoning it. “That must be some kind of record for me – I'm practically a goddamn monk. I'm fucking you within the next thirty seconds. It's up to you decided whether or not it happens in your dress.”

“Wow, I don't think I've ever seen this side of you. I wonder if I could use it to my advantage, maybe get you to -”

“Twenty seconds, Valentine.”

She hopped towards the master bedroom on one foot, yanking off her boot at she went. She barely got the second one before he grabbed her from behind, shoving her through the door into the room. She fell forward, planting her hands on the bed to keep herself from falling. Before she could push herself upright, Ari was up against her, pushing the stretchy fabric of her dress up over her ass.

“No fair, that wasn't anywhere near twenty seconds,” she panted. He slapped her on the ass, startling a squeak out of her, then continued pushing on the material. Valentine stood upright, slowly spinning to face him while he pulled the dress over her head and away from her body.

“Twenty seconds was too long to wait for this,” he breathed, running his hands over the cups of her strapless bar, fingering the lace work. “Goddamn, Valentine, I've never met another woman who dresses as sexy as you do.”

“It's not the clothing, it's the attitude,” she informed him. “I've never met a man who looks as good in a suit as you, and I've met a lot of men who were suits.”

“It's not the clothing, it's just that I'm really good looking.”

She burst out laughing, but it didn't last long. Ari hadn't been joking about being hard up. One second he was peeling her bra, and the next she was being tossed into the center of the matress. Before she'd even settled into place, he was covering her with his body.

“You're naked,” she whispered, smoothing her feet up the backs of his bare calves.

“I know,” he whispered back. “But you're not.”

He worked his way down her body, teeth skimming against her sensitive skin. When he got to her underwear, he bit down, dragging the lace down her legs. When she was able to kick the material away on her own, he moved back up, kissing along her hip bone.

“You're awfully wet, Valentine,” he commented as one of his fingers found its way inside her body. “Must have been a fun night at Caché. New client?”

“An old one actually,” she replied, then gasped when a second finger abruptly joined the first.

“You met up with an old client tonight?” he growled, pumping his fingers in and out. She moaned and rubbed her lips together, barely managing to nod.

“I did,” she said, nodding her head. “He's this massive jerk. Always says the wrong thing. Doesn't know the first thing about women. But he's amazing in bed.”

“Sounds like a catch. Better not let him get away,” he whispered, and then his mouth was where his hand had been, and she was arching off the bed, letting out a loud cry.

Before her spine hit the mattress again, he was moving, his tongue cutting a path up the center of her body. While he moved so his body was between her legs, he kissed her hard, possessing her mouth. Reclaiming it.

“I wanted tonight to be special,” he breathed, his left hand skimming up her body to cup her breast.

“It has been,” she assured him.

“Romantic, even. You deserve romance.”

“I want you.”

“I had speeches I practiced, things I wanted to say,” he kept speaking, though she didn't know why. She could feel him all hot and hard against her thigh, and she didn't care about anything else in that moment. She wanted him inside her, where he belonged.

“You said a lot of things,” she told him, kissing her way down his neck.

“But then I fucked it all up, and then you slapped me, and goddamn, that pissed me off. Don't ever fucking hit me again.”

“I won't,” she promised. “And you didn't fuck anything up.”

“There should be rose petals or candles or music, or something,” he sighed, dipping his head down to her breast and nibbling at her nipple. “But I'm just not that kind of guy.”

“So what kind of guy are you?” she moaned, scratching her nails across his shoulders, willing him to take things further.

“The kind of guy who wants to fuck you as hard and as fast as he can,” he growled. “You deserve to be worshiped, Valentine, but I just don't think that's going to happen tonight. I want all of you, and I want it now.”

“Jesus, thank god, finally, we agree on something,” she groaned. “Because if you take any longer, I'm going to fuck myself.”

He roughly grabbed the back of her knee, forcing her leg high up against his side. She slid her hand between their bodies, gripping onto the base of his cock and guiding him inside of her. They both groaned as she expanded and contracted around him, welcoming him.

“You promised hard and fast,” she panted. “A verbal contract is binding, someone once told me.”

“Hey, legal talk is only sexy when I do it,” he grunted, holding himself still above her.

“It's not sexy when anybody does it, Ari.”

He pulled his hips back, slowly withdrawing his whole length. She gasped, then moaned as he slid back in. He did this several more times, pumping in and out as an excruciatingly slow speed. Then he slammed in tight, as deep as could, startling a shout of her, and grabbed her leg, lifting it so her calf was against his shoulder.

“Did you miss this?” he asked, beginning to fuck her in earnest.

“Always,” she replied, dragging her nails down his chest.

“God, the things I'm going to do to you,” he panted, his hips moving faster and faster, slamming into her harder and harder. “To make up for lost time. You have no idea.”

“Yes, please, so much lost time,” she moaned, pumping her hips back against him, wanting every milllimeter he had to give.

“I'm going to tie you to my fucking bed, not let you leave for a week,” he growled.
