Specter's Wake(41)
Author: Quinn Ryder

Damn, this guy obviously had no idea who Diego was or who the Saints were because Diego had on his cut and everything.

“No, Ese, she’s fucking mine.” Diego pulled out a knife and pointed it at Alejandro, who immediately threw up his hands.

“I don’t want any trouble, man, we were just dancing.”

“The cum on your fingers says otherwise.” Diego’s voice was full of hate and malice. He wasn’t going to let this slide, and I suddenly felt extremely guilty for dragging Alejandro into my madness.

Rodrigo walked up behind Alejandro and grabbed him, dragging him to the back of the building. Diego grabbed my arm, fingers digging into my flesh with such force that it felt like he was crushing my arm.

“Diego, you’re hurting me.”

He whipped around and got up in my face until I could feel the coldness of his narrowed eyes pierce my flesh. “Oh, I’m going to do more than hurt you, Fe. I’m going to show you exactly what happens when someone tries to fuck my Old Lady. You spun the wrong roulette wheel tonight, because now this dude is going to pay for your games in his blood.”

I gasped. “Diego, no!”

But it was too late. The fire I danced with had gone up in smoke, and now there was no telling what Diego would do to Alejandro or me for that matter.

“Get moving, whore,” he growled, pushing me through the crowd of drunk dancers too oblivious to see what was going on around them.

Why didn’t I just go home like Diego asked me to?

Chapter Twenty

Specter

“What the fuck happened?” Scythe screamed for the fifteenth time since I told him that Faith ditched me and ended up at Diego’s club. I didn’t know how to explain it to him without it looking bad. Besides, Switchblade was standing in the corner scowling. I think Switchblade had two expressions: scowl and sneer. There were no other emotions his ugly mug could express.

“She got pissed off at me and ditched me. She didn’t like the idea of her brother sending a babysitter after her.”

“I told you he wasn’t ready for this shit. You should’ve sent me. I would’ve made Faith stay put. That bitch wouldn’t have ditched me.”

“Call her a bitch again, Switchblade, and see if you still have a dick tomorrow,” I threatened.

“Oh yeah? And what you gonna do about it, Prospect? I say, throw this fucker out. He don’t belong here.”

“He’s fine,” Scythe challenged, “I’m just upset that Faith is in Saint’s territory again, especially after what I was told earlier today.”

“Are you going to fill me in, or are you gonna continue keeping secrets from me?” Switchblade growled.

“There’s a hit out on Faith. I’m sure Diego knows about it but doesn’t think any of his club will do anything. He’s wrong. They’re out for blood—her blood. Somebody in that club wants her dead and there’s a hefty price tag on her. The money hungry rats will be out looking for her, if they aren’t already.”

Hearing the words aloud made me squirm. I didn’t like the idea of any man touching Faith, and if she got hurt because I couldn’t hold my emotions together, I’ll never forgive myself.

“What can we do?” I asked. Trying to push the last words she said to me out of my head, even though they were playing over and over again.

“Get the fuck away from me. LEAVE! I don’t ever want to see your face again,” she screamed. It was echoing in my brain and I couldn’t make it stop.

“Let’s march in there and get her,” Switchblade offered. “She’s the property of the Armada, they can’t keep her, not without starting a fucking war.”

Scythe shook his head. “We can’t start a war with the Saints, Switchblade. We aren’t prepared or ready for that shit.”

“I’m always prepared for battle. I was a fucking Marine—Marines are always ready for war.”

I rolled my eyes. This meathead would get us all killed with that kind of attitude.

“Got a better idea, Prospect?” Switchblade growled, biting the word Prospect like he was chewing on a slab of tough steak.

“I got a few. None of them involve war.”

“Whatcha got?” Scythe asked.

“I got a few friends that owe me a favor or two, I could probably make a call and get her and few friends to help us.”

Switchblade scoffed. “What kind of people would be friends with a shit-stain like you?”

“Filly, president of the Vipers. She owes me a favor.”

Scythe looked at me curiously. “How do you know Filly?”

“I kinda am staying over on her side of town. There isn’t much that gets by that woman. We may have had a run in or two. If I gave her a call, I’m sure she’d help.”

“Filly doesn’t play well with others. She does what she wants when she wants.”

“She plays well with me. She’s got a thing for me,” I remarked, smiling at the memory of my first encounter with her.

Switchblade laughed. “What’s a bunch of dumb bitches parading around in leather going to do to help us? They ain’t shit. They’re a bunch of prima donnas pretending to be badass. They’d probably whip out their mascara brushes and try to stab people with them. It’s comical that they even call themselves a MC at all. This is a man’s fucking world and the only bitch wearing leather better be wearing one that says property of, otherwise, they don’t belong in this world.”

I turned to look at him. “You should never underestimate a woman with nothing to lose, Switchblade. You may think they are prima donnas, but they are fucking smart and fucking sexy as hell. They could infiltrate Diego’s club, and no one would even think twice about it. They’d be too busy staring at their tits and ass to realize they are affiliated with a rival club. Filly hates Diego as much as we do.”

Scythe looked lost in thought. “It’s not a bad idea. They could get in and get Faith out without anyone noticing. Filly is good at what she does. Although, the idea of turning to a female MC seems rather cowardice to me. I don’t think we need the help of any women—especially fucking Filly and her club of sluts.”

Switchblade sneered. “It’s a shitty idea, what happens if they get caught? Then we have the Vipers and Faith in our enemy’s hands. No. Those fucking snakes need to stay the hell away from the Armada. We got no need for fucking women ‘round here, not unless they are opening their mouths and sucking my fucking cock.”

Switchblade was as close to a Neanderthal as you could get. His idea that women were only good for one thing bothered the shit out of me. “Look, it’s a good plan. We’re down in numbers and the Saints know who most of you are. Nobody’s going to get past Diego’s big ass bouncer, not without him shooting first. That’s why they wouldn’t see the Vipers coming. Nobody takes them seriously, which is exactly why they are vital to this plan. I can go with them, nobody knows who the fuck I am, either, and you said it yourself that I slip easily in and out of shadows.”

“Fuck that. You already fucked up once, we ain’t sending your ass anywhere but packing.”

“Filly won’t help if I’m not involved. I can tell you that right now.”
