Chasing Cain(2)
Author: Megs Pritchard

“How long are you here for?” Would Cain be here long enough for them to explore their attraction? Archer had a feeling one night wouldn’t be enough. Not nearly enough.

“Two weeks. You?”

Archer looked Cain up and down, catching the look Cain gave him in return, but also the slight frown. “The same.”

“We could do some sightseeing.”

Cain burst out laughing, throwing his head back. “Is that some euphemism?”

“What? We could do some sightseeing, among other things.”

Cain paused then nodded. “Good to know.”

Archer took a mouthful of his beer, his eyes on Cain as Cain watched him. He kept glancing away, but Archer assumed it was nerves. Maybe it had been awhile since Cain had hooked up like this.

They both smiled, and Archer knew exactly how his night was going to end. Them in bed, doing lots of dirty things together.

His eyes dropped to Cain’s groin, noticing the bulge, and licked his lips. He lifted his eyes when he heard Cain’s quiet moan.

“Tell me about your family?” Cain asked.

Archer arched an eyebrow then shrugged. He could do the whole delaying the inevitable, a little anticipation would make the sex better.

“My dad died a few years ago, but Mom was lucky. She found someone, and he treats her like a queen. They’re getting married soon. I have two sisters, one older and one younger, and three brothers. All younger. I’m the only gay one too.”

Cain coughed and smiled. “Thank goodness,” he mumbled. “I’m one of five. My dad was one of four, so we tend to have large families. My oldest sister has five already, and I don’t think she’s finished yet. I’m the opposite of you. My mom packed up one day and left Dad to raise us all, but he’s getting married soon too.”

“Must be something in the air.”

Cain nodded. “I want to have that someday when I’m their age.”

“God, yeah.” Archer furrowed his brow, thinking about his own lack of relationship. Glancing at Cain, he smiled. Well, maybe not for the next two weeks.

“One of five. Must have been fun at bath time.”

Cain laughed, nodding. “There was a race every single morning to get the bathroom first. I never made it, but I’m not the eldest, and I was little. My brother Devon always got first dibs, and he took forever in there. When he was done, no one wanted to go in after.”

Archer wrinkled his nose. “I know that feeling, but with my sister, it was the stench of too much perfume. It always made me sneeze.”

“I’d have preferred that to his stink. Bastard would laugh, too, as we complained. I think he saved it up for us in the morning.” Cain smiled. “Good man though. There whenever I needed him, and he’s the first person I turn to when things aren’t going right.”

“Sounds like a great big brother.” Archer’s family hadn’t taken his coming out well at first.

“He is. He’s one of the best, for sure.”

“Mine are like that too. Knox is a pain in my ass though.”

“I have a brother like that too.” Cain coughed then asked, “How was your family when you came out?”

Archer winced and shook his head. “It was a shock at first, and my dad couldn’t accept it. Mom was better though, and the others didn’t give a shit. One of my brothers left a box of lube and about fifty condoms on my bed. That was his way of telling me it would be okay.”

“Your dad was okay eventually, yeah?”

“He was. He died a few years ago, but we were great.” Archer sighed. “It’s strange, but I’m still coming out.”

“Yeah, I can imagine. People think once you’ve done the big reveal that it’s over and done with, but every time you meet someone new you have to tell them again. I had gay friends growing up. They told me all about it.”

“And you still get the comments.”

“If their sex life is boring...”

“Who does what to who?” Archer shook his head. “I told my sister one year to invest in some toys. She punched me, and then two weeks later told me what she’d bought and how it had improved her sex life.” Archer grimaced. “I really didn’t need to know the details. Dicks? Absolutely. Pussy? Nope, no, never.”

Cain laughed. “You’re happy, she’s happy.”

“Oh, god yeah, but I don’t need to know the shit she told me. I can’t bleach my ears enough, and oh my god, the visuals?”

Cain laughed again and glanced at their empty glasses. “Another?”

“Yeah, thanks.”

Archer watched Cain signal the bartender and smiled. Cain was hot, and Archer couldn’t wait to explore what was under his clothes, but he seemed nice too, coming across as funny and caring. Archer knew he’d have a good vacation as long as Cain was there with him.

“Where are you staying?”

Archer smiled and looked Cain up and down again. “Not too far. Quite close actually.”

“That’s really good to know.”

Chapter Two

CAIN JONAS SIPPED his beer, his eyes watching every move Archer made. Fancy meeting someone who hit all his buttons in the hotel bar? What were the odds?

There was only one small problem. Cain wasn’t gay, or at least, he didn’t think he was. But here he was, with a man that made him sit up and notice. Plus, the man made his dick ache, and that was a new feeling too.

So, here he was, sitting with a gay man and ready to see where this newfound attraction took him.

Archer smiled at Cain’s response. “Less than five minutes. I’m staying here.”

“Me too. I know people come here from all over. It’s the place to be.” And look what he’d found? Something new and exciting...and a little scary too.

Archer nodded, his eyes hooding as he looked Cain over again. His blue eyes, the same color as the sky on a summer day, eyes that Cain could get lost in. His blond hair was short and held a hint of curls that made Cain want to run his fingers through it. But it was his eyes that captured Cain’s attention. He almost laughed at the cliched thoughts that ran through his mind, but damn, he did like Archer’s eyes and the rest of him.

He filled his T-shirt out nicely, and he wanted to run his hands over the muscles, feel his hot smooth skin under his palms. Shit, if he carried on, he’d have trouble hiding his hard-on from Archer. Maybe that wasn’t a bad thing given the looks Archer was giving him.

His attraction to the other man didn’t make him feel uncomfortable, but he was a little unsure how this would turn out. He’d never kissed a man before, and he had the impression Archer wanted more than that. Something Cain was considering too.

“So, you’re a vet?” Cain asked, wanting to know more about the man in front of him.

“My dad was one, and I’ve always been around animals. It was natural for me to follow in his footsteps. I prefer the family pets to farm animals. Lots of dogs, cats, hamsters, reptiles. Some days it’s the usual inoculations, but some days are worse, when a beloved family pet is injured or dying. They become part of your family, and then one day you have to say goodbye. Even though it’s not my pet, I understand the pain the family is suffering.”
