Hero (Wolves of Royal Paynes #1)(60)
Author: Kiki Burrelli

I dropped to my knees and entered him in one motion. My head fell back, and I roared, my wolf in the only place he ever wanted to be. I gripped his waist, kneading the flesh while I gave Jazz a moment to adjust.

He didn't want that moment and bucked into me, slapping his skin against mine. His mouth opened, releasing growling groans. His sex noises had changed with his first shift, and I'd never get enough of hearing him. His animal wasn't as close to the surface as mine, both because he wasn't an alpha and was so new at being a shifter, but when I had my dick in his ass, his animal let loose.

He drove his hips back into me, setting a brutal pace that sent violent jolts of pleasure up my spine. I growled, adding the scraping sound to Jazz's keening wails.

"Are you going to come for me, baby? Don't touch yourself…" I slapped his hand out from under his body, earning a sharp cry.

"Please, it aches."

"I'll take care of your aches, baby. I'll take care of everything." Once my fingers wrapped around his dick, I wouldn't be able to hold back the avalanche of desire poised to cover us both. I tightened my hold, taking a mental image of the way his head lolled with every thrust, the soft parting of his lips where he let out the tiniest mewls of need.

My omega.

"Mine." I growled out the word, stroking Jazz in time with my thrusts. He came with a sharp cry, a bowing back, his mouth open to the ceiling in a silent scream. My release gathered in my balls before racketing down as I filled him with liquid heat.

He was limp in a boneless, completely sated way. He humped gently, drawing out the aftershocks that made his body convulse. His back rounded with his inhale and flattened as he exhaled, lifting his face to the mirror, where he gave me a satisfied, well-fucked smile.

"Mmm, that's a good thing," he mumbled, sounding drunk.

Maybe he was drunk on my cum. I didn't hate the thought.

Hallie, Jazz, and Angus sat on a blue-and-white striped sheet in the shade of an umbrella. Diesel, Huntley, and Jagger were fighting over who could catch the most fish in their wolf forms—though none of them had produced a single one yet.

Faust stayed close to the umbrella. Probably so he was near in case Jazz or Hallie needed something. I had faith at some point his guilt would diminish at least to a level where he didn't frown every time he looked at them. Until then, I'd have to let him work through it the best way he knew how.

It was a gorgeous day to be on the beach, made all the prettier when Jazz stood and threw a handful of sand into the breeze. The small pieces became butterflies, thousands of them drifting in the air.

"Ooh, that's pretty. Do stars next," Hallie urged.

Jazz beamed, pleased to be able to show off. I didn't scowl every time he used his powers anymore. I didn't worry he would try to use them to leave me, but they had been the thing that tricked me into believing my omega was dead. Like Faust, I'd need time to work through that feeling.

His second handful replaced the butterflies. Everyone stopped to stare. He'd created a tiny galaxy. Milky nebulas shone in pinks and purples amidst clouds of glittering stars.

"That's beautiful," Hallie breathed, watching the illusion break apart as the sand fell. "I don't know if I'd call it angelic…"

Jazz snorted. "I don't feel angelic, so that's okay." He searched the blanket for something, and Faust leapt forward.

"Can I get you something? Water? I brought snacks—"

"Faust, no. I'm fine. Hallie is fine. Angus is fine. Nothing was your fault."

Faust frowned but didn't put up a fight.

Jazz stretched his arms over his head. "Is anyone in the mood for a run?"

"You just want to show off that you're faster than all of us," Jagger yelled from waist-deep ocean water.

Jazz's lips twitched as a flock of seagulls gathered over head. "I would never—"

Something fell from the sky, not heavy enough to cause damage. The item landed on the umbrella and slid to the sand. Jazz frowned, leaning over to pick it up.

"Wait—" I growled. Something didn't feel right.

Jazz froze, and Faust swooped in, snagging the bit of paper before Jazz could.

He'd nearly unfolded the small square when another bit of paper fell. I looked up at the seagulls circling the sky above. Without warning, a blizzard of paper fell from the sky, landing in the area on and around where Faust stood.

The others rushed back in, watching the papers fall like snowflakes. Faust unfolded the first note and frowned. He bent over, snagging several notes, frowning harder.

"What do they say?"

He flipped the message around so we could see the writing. The same two words were written on each with increasingly scratchy handwriting.

Help me.

Faust squeezed the notes into a fist and caught my gaze. "Is this something?" he asked.

I nodded, remembering the conversation we'd had weeks ago when he'd first started receiving the strange notes. I didn't want another mystery. We'd just recently started getting answers, but it didn't matter what I wanted. Not when someone out there so clearly needed help. "It's something."

The End

Ruler: Wolves of Royal Paynes

Warriors. Outsiders. Alphas.

It all started with a mouse and a note. After that, Faust kept receiving strange messages delivered by forest animals. He's no cartoon princess and this sh*t is weird but not life-threatening. He ignores it until he receives a flurry of notes all with the same message, help me and there is no way Faust can ignore the odd messages any longer.

Storri has been locked in a tower for over five years, put there by a man he trusted. The man claims to be protecting Storri from himself and others, but Storri never had any enemies—only a teacher he thought had been a friend. His ability to communicate with animals has helped him stay sane in isolation, but after so long, hope has faded.

Rescuing his prince is only half the challenge. Faust and his pack already have a mystery, and they've never been closer to finding out who destroyed their family and why. But with knowledge, comes danger and the man who took Storri isn't the only one willing to do anything to get their hands on him.

Ruler is the second book in the Wolves of Royal Paynes series. It is an action-packed, magically-infused, swelteringly hot, mpreg romance that continues a world of angels, demons, mystery, and magic. For maximum enjoyment, this series should be read in order.

Branson

"Have you gotten your invitation?" Aver asked. A low but steady beep told me he was on site, hopefully pouring the concrete to reinforce the posts for the Lanser's dock.

"Invitation? Oh, that's right. The winter solstice." The last time I'd seen Aver had been this morning when he'd left for the day. I should've gone with him, but the paperwork was already piled high. The Lanser's was a big job, and they'd opened the doors to us booking up for the rest of the season. Aver hadn't been back to check the mail.
