Roman Sunset(25)
Author: Merry Farmer

“Trent?” She blinked in confusion. “Why him?”

Thomas grinned. “If Lord Beverly is sent back to England to recuperate, you can be sure his daughter will go with him. And if Charlotte goes, Trent will go too. I predict the two of them will be married before Christmas.”

“And that’s why you envy your cousin?” Violetta’s smile was bright and her cheeks flushed pink as she stared up at him.

“Absolutely.” Thomas stole a kiss. “For what can be better than to marry the woman you love?”

I hope you’ve enjoyed Thomas and Violetta’s story! I actually studied commedia dell’arte theater in graduate school, many years ago, and it was great to be able to write about it at last! It really was a fun form of theater, although, as I mentioned, it originated in Venice and was most popular in the 17th and 18th centuries. It’s still performed today by special troupes, though.

If you’re looking for more adventures of the McGovern clan, including their adventures in Egypt, please sign up for my newsletter! I’ll be taking a break from Tales from the Grand Tour, but if I pick up the story as the McGoverns hunt down the would-be tomb robbers in Egypt, I’ll let you know in my newsletter.

Merry Farmer is an award-winning novelist who lives in suburban Philadelphia with her cats, Torpedo, her grumpy old man, and Justine, her hyperactive new baby. She has been writing since she was ten years old and realized one day that she didn't have to wait for the teacher to assign a creative writing project to write something. It was the best day of her life. She then went on to earn not one but two degrees in History so that she would always have something to write about. Her books have reached the Top 100 at Amazon, iBooks, and Barnes & Noble, and have been named finalists in the prestigious RONE and Rom Com Reader’s Crown awards.
