Rue heads over to the counter, climbing up on her step stool and grabbing her little apron. It’s almost dinner time and I set Ronan in his high chair next to the counter before I go over to help her.
Ryker comes up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and kissing my neck softly.
“Are you going to help us, daddy?” Rue asks and Ryker bends to kiss her head and ruffle her hair.
“If you’ll let me,” he tells her and she hands him a wooden spoon.
I smile as I watch my husband help our daughter tie her apron. She smiles up at him before she starts to order him around, telling him to grab some ingredients from the shelf. He does it with a smile and I can’t help but marvel at how lucky I am to have met him.
He turns and catches me watching him and I grin wider when he mouths, I love you at me.
I love you too, I mouth back.
