Daughtry : Texas Kings MC, Book 10(30)
Author: Cee Bowerman

And that post orgasm glow disappeared. It was one of those perfect bubbles that pop before you’re ready.

“What?” I asked him, confused at his abrupt change of mood.

“I’ve got to get out of here,” Daughtry said as he pushed me off his lap. “This just isn’t right.”

“Isn’t right?” I asked him, getting mad now.

“It just feels wrong. I feel gross.”

“Way to ruin the mood there, cowboy,” I growled at him as I walked to the sink to wet some hand towels so I could clean myself up. I felt my torn panties flopping around one foot, and I hopped for a second so I could fling them off. They flew up in the air and hit Daughtry in the chest and with reflexes like a cat, he caught them and balled them up in his hand. “You know what? Fuck you. I liked it. You can’t take that away from me.”

Daughtry ran his hands through his long hair and then pulled on his beard as if he wasn’t aware he was standing in the middle of the room with his half hard cock jutting out over pants that were barely hanging on.

“Get the fuck out of here. I’ve got a date to go on.”

“God,” Daughtry groaned. “Why the fuck are you doing this to me? I can’t do this right now. I can’t even think.”

I glanced up at him and saw that he was breathing heavy, his hands fisted in the hair above his ears. He was pale but for the bright red spots on his cheeks and he did not look good. I watched him tuck himself inside his pants and then zip and button them as he seemed to sway on his feet.

He looked like a caged animal and for a second, I was afraid.

“Fuck!” He roared and spun around and punched one of the lockers behind him. He did it two more times, yelling with each punch. “Fuck!”

He started to storm out of the locker room and I vowed I wouldn’t cry as I watched him go. I’d never thought that Daughtry could or would hurt me, but now, along with being broken-hearted from his words, I was afraid, too.

I was also worried about him as he lurched out of the room, bumping into the doorframe after he threw the door open to leave.

“He’s a grown fucking man,” I reminded myself out loud. “He can fucking take care of himself because God knows he doesn’t want you to do it, Jamie. He doesn’t want you for anything else. You’re just easy pussy.”

DAUGHTRY

The pictures on the wall rattled when I slammed my office door behind me. I kicked the chair that sat at the corner of my desk and sent it careening into the one beside it.

My mind was racing a mile a minute and my heart was doing its dead level best to catch up to it. I felt like my head was going to explode. Every sound was amplified. The lights buzzed above my desk, the clock was ticking loudly from across the room, and my breath sounded like it was coming in from a loudspeaker.

I pushed my chair back away from the desk and flopped down into it. I scooted it back up so I could lean my elbows in front of me and I slowly rubbed my hands over my face.

Something was wrong with me. I was all fucked up and couldn’t even talk. I’d fucked Jamie and then she started screaming at me. I couldn’t remember why, but I had to have done something wrong.

“Oh, God,” I groaned. “What have I done? I’m missing something.”

I was panting now and my head felt like it was about to explode. The fluorescent lights were getting louder and brighter and I had to close my eyes. I needed to think, to remember. Why was I so fucking mad?

I dropped my head into my hands and closed my eyes.

“Something’s wrong with me,” I grumbled as I felt myself falling.

JAMIE

“I’m so sorry I’m late!” I told the two men and Neva as I rushed up to the table they were sitting at in the bar area of the restaurant.

The man sitting very close to Neva smiled and waved his hand as if it was no big deal, Neva shot daggers at me, and the other man just raised a brow.

Oh, great. My date was Mr. Silent and Judgy. Lovely.

I had hurried from the garage to the restaurant, glad that it was only a few blocks away. After Daughtry stormed out of the locker room, I rushed to dress in the clothes Neva had brought me, scrubbed my hands as well as I could, and then ran out of the building as if it was on fire.

On my way out the door, I glanced toward Daughtry’s office and saw the light on, but he didn’t come out to speak to me at all. I made sure his bike was still in it’s spot, so that I knew for sure he was inside before I left without figuring out how to lock up the shop door. I had a key, but Lout had shown me that the lock was quirky and you had to hold the key just right to get it to work. I didn’t have time to mess with that just now - it was already 6:20 and I hated to be late.

“Hi,” I stuck my hand out to my date. “I’m Jamie.”

He glanced down at his watch and then stuck his soft hand out and touched mine gently, barely clasping my hand, before he shook it twice and pulled away.

Strikes 2 and 3 respectively, I thought to myself as I smiled over at Neva and her guy.

“What happened?” Neva asked me. “Did you run into a snag?”

“Yeah,” I smiled. “You could say that.”

The snag was about 6’3”, but they didn’t need details. I didn’t want to think about Daughtry’s odd, and asshole-ish behavior right now anyway. I’d be crying about that when I got home tonight, no sense rushing into it.

“Do you gentlemen mind if I run to the ladies room?” Neva asked sweetly while smiling up at her date. He smiled back and reached up to tweak her nose. I almost gagged, but I caught myself in time. “Jamie, come with?”

I glanced at my date, just loving his frown, and nodded. “Why not?”

As Neva pulled my hand and dragged me toward the restroom, I caught a whiff of the sweet smell that had been surrounding Daughtry tonight and realized it must be on my skin. I shivered at the thought and then shook my head to get past it.

“What in the fuck, Jamie Lea?” Neva growled the second the bathroom door shut behind me. She spun around and pointed her finger in my face, got close to me and snarled, “You did that on purpose!”

“I didn’t mean to be so late, I promise,” I pleaded with her to understand. “I’m so sorry!”

Neva sniffed the air and wrinkled her nose.

“What?” I asked, lifting one arm to sniff and make sure my long-lasting deodorant wasn’t false advertising. “Do I stink?”

Neva leaned closer and sniffed again, this time her nose almost touching my mouth.

“What the fuck are you doing?”

“You smell,” Neva told me. “Do you feel okay?”

“What the fuck do I smell like?” I asked her, pulling my shirt out at the chest so I could stick my nose in it and sniff. I smelled like Daughtry. “It’s just a very sweet smell.”

“Do you feel okay?” Neva asked me again, still way too close even though she was my best friend.

“Just fucking yell at me and get it over with. Jesus! You don’t have to give me a fucking complex! I’ve had a really bad fucking day already!”

“Have you ever checked your blood sugar?”
