The Deceptive Twin(17)
Author: L.R. Jackson

We enjoyed the rest of the day at Charlotte’s. Once Jasen was calm enough to let his guard down, he started to like Anthony. They talked about sports, money, and furniture of all things. He also talked Jasen into purchasing a top-of-the-line mattress for our guest bedroom.

Our guest bedroom? Where did that come from?

I quickly remind myself that there is no our. There’s Jasen and Monroe.

I take a sip of the strawberry lemonade. I’m on my third glass. “Charlotte, this is delicious. Would you mind sharing your recipe?”

She looks over at Jasen. He shrugs. “Sure.”

They continue to chat, and I grab my phone to see if I have any missed messages from Monroe. None. I contemplate if I should send her a message telling her that I made peace with Charlotte. But now is not the time.

“How’s work going, baby?” Charlotte asks.

“Great. Clients are increasing, and so are our profits. Although, this week will be busier with Cooper being away.”

“How is Cooper doing?” she continues.

“He’s out of town visiting his mom for the week, so I’ll be covering for the both of us.”

He’s lying. He’s with your wife.

“Sounds like you’ll have a lot on your plate,” Anthony adds.

“Yup, but nothing I can’t handle.”

Charlotte beams with pride at her son’s statement. “You’ve always been a hard worker.”

“I learned from you and Dad.”

This is nice. It’s been so long since I’ve been around family that I forgot how much I missed it. Grandma Rose used to host diners for every occasion. Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, but none were as important as Sunday dinners after church. She’d invite the entire family over. Hell, she’d invite the entire neighborhood.

“Have you been to see your father?” Charlotte asks.

Jasen shakes his head. “I haven’t been to Philly since we buried him.”

She smiles. “You should go. And Monroe can see her sister. You have a twin sister, right?”

“Yes, her name is Morgan.”

“I’d love to meet her sometime.”

I’m unlacing my sneakers when Jasen enters the bedroom. “Thanks for everything today.”

I kick them to the side. “I really didn’t do anything.”

He stops in front of me. “Yes, you did. You calmed me down before I could rip Anthony to shreds. That would not have gone well with Mom. And I don’t know what you and Mom talked about in the kitchen, but you two seemed to get along afterwards. You guys actually talked.”

“We made peace with each other. We both love you and realize we need to settle our differences.”

He kneels in front of me. “Good.”

His hands slide over my thighs. “It’s been a long time since you’ve worn jeans. These show every single curve.”

He reaches for the button. “What… what are you doing?” I ask breathlessly.

He unbuttons them, takes my hands, and pulls me to my feet. Once I’m anchored in front of him, he slides the zipper down. “I’m about to make love to my wife.”

He pulls the T-shirt above my head before he kisses me. I wrap my hands around his neck and deepen the kiss, causing him to groan. He breaks the kiss and tugs at my jeans. “Take them off.”

I slide out of them quickly and kick them to the side. He nods to my pink boy shorts and matching pink bra. “Lose those too.”

He undresses while I slide my panties off and unhook my bra. Moisture pools between my legs at the sight of his naked body. He steps closer. “Get on the bed and spread your legs.”

I scoot back on the bed and spread my legs. My eyes trail his as they skim over my body. He drops to his knees and smirks right before he settles his face in between my legs. His tongue rakes over my folds slowly. Oh. My. God. It sends shivers down my spine. My head drops back, and my hand rests on top of his head as he works his tongue like magic.

“Oh God,” I cry out.

He works his tongue faster. I grip the sheet with my free hand and scream at the top of my lungs as I come. He softly kisses each inner thigh before he stands up. I scoot back further, and he climbs on the bed and overtop of me. “This isn’t going to be gentle, baby. I’ve wanted you all day. And I need to fuck you right now.”

I nod in agreement. I don’t care how he fucks me right now. Just that he fucks me. Slow. Fast. Gentle. Hard. Either way, I want it.

Chapter 8

Morgan

It’s Monday morning. So, I decide to head to the nearest grocery store. I want to make Jasen lunch and surprise him with it at his office. It’s the least I can do since he’s working alone this week, compliments of Monroe and Cooper. As I lazily stroll down each aisle, I realize I have no idea what kind of foods Jasen likes to eat. I pull the phone out of my purse and shoot a text to Monroe.

Me: What kind of foods does Jasen like to eat?

I place it back in my purse when a woman approaches me. “Hi, Monroe?”

I plaster on a smile. “Hi.”

I have no idea who this woman is, but I fake it, hoping this will be brief. She’s beautiful. Golden skin. Slanted eyes. And a body to kill for. She’s wearing a white sundress and a pair of green ballet flats.

“I’m surprised to see you here.”

“Yeah, I decided to take Jasen lunch today.”

“How nice. Well, I’m sure he told you that Cooper is out of town. I’m just here to pick up some items for dinner for when he gets back.”

It’s Simone! Cooper’s wife.

“Yeah. He did.”

There’s an awkward silence between us, and I don’t know why. Monroe hasn’t mentioned any bad blood between her and Cooper’s wife. As far she’s concerned, Simone doesn’t have a clue that the two of them are having an affair. The phone buzzes, interrupting the silence. “Well, it was nice seeing you again.”

I reach into my bag as I turn around to walk away. “Monroe?”

I stop in my tracks and turn around to face her. She takes a step forward. “I saw the way you were looking at my husband that night.”

I shake my head. “I’m sure you’re mistaken.”

“No. I’m not mistaken. And I’m not an idiot. I saw you two. Flirting. In my home.”

I’m stuck. I have nothing to say because Monroe is guilty. For all of it. “Stay away from my husband, Monroe. This is your only warning. Don’t speak to him, call him, or go anywhere near him. Otherwise, I’ll tell Jasen about the text messages I found in his phone. Do you understand?”

She knows. But most importantly, she’s accepting it. Why? Why would a woman decide to hold on to a cheating husband? “Do you understand?” she asks again.

I nod. “Yes.”

She straightens her spine. “Good.”

She bumps my shoulder with force when she brushes past me. I pull the phone out of my purse to read Monroe’s reply.

Monroe: You don’t need to worry about that. Jasen does the cooking or we call our chef.

She’s useless. And I don’t want to press the issue because then she’ll have questions about why I’m making him lunch. And I’ll have to lie to her… again. Seems that’s the norm between her and me lately. My fingers hover over the screen, debating if I should tell her about my encounter with Simone. Maybe if I tell her that Simone knows and has threatened to tell Jasen, it’ll cut their trip short. But knowing my sister, I doubt it. She does things when and how she wants to. Not at any anyone else’s pace.
