“Chloe! Look to the right,” several people called out as they took pictures.
Jake stepped back. He knew they had no interest in him being in their photos, and although he kept an eye on Chloe, he couldn’t help but constantly scan the crowd, on the lookout for anyone that looked threatening. Which brought on thoughts of Mitch, who was locked up and would stay that way for a very long time.
Chloe finished at the Step and Repeat and slipped her hand back into his, which was just where he preferred her to be. He’d grown to love her more deeply than he would have thought possible and couldn’t fathom that he had nearly given her up.
She smiled at him, her face radiant, and he gave her hand a gentle squeeze as he smiled back. She was so amazing, so sweet, so beautiful. He hardly felt he deserved her, but he was beyond grateful that she had chosen him.
Chloe never got tired of Jake’s amazing smile. It lit her up inside and filled her with joy. He was so sweet, so thoughtful, so wonderful, and she didn’t want anyone else by her side. She loved him more than ever, more than she had ever loved any man. Beth had even come around, growing to care for Jake when she saw how happy he made Chloe.
Chloe was so proud of what Jake had accomplished completely on his own—starting his security business, which was more successful than either one of them had thought it would be. Because of that he had financial independence, which Chloe knew was important to him. She liked to get him gifts from time to time, but he was always a little reluctant to accept them, which she appreciated, because she knew he was with her because he loved her, not because of her fame or fortune. She could lose everything the next day and he would still be by her side. She had no doubt about that. Their love was true and everlasting, and she couldn’t be happier. Jake was the one for her, and she truly believed they would be together until the end of their days.
