“Sure.” Bishop went to the couch and scooped Edison onto his lap. “Y’all ain’t got nothing else to do, right?”

Wood waited to see if Trent would say yes, but he was mildly disappointed when he shook his head and headed toward his bedroom.

“I won’t be long.”

Trent

Trent hurriedly shed his filthy work clothes and dropped them in their separate hamper in his closet. He put on his robe and tossed his towel over his shoulder so he could get to the bathroom. As soon as he stepped out of his door, Wood slammed into him, pinning him against the wall. He gasped at the sudden, but welcome, surprise. Before he could ask what the fuck, Wood’s hot mouth was on him.

“Hey! What was that?” Bishop yelled from around the corner.

“Nothing. Trent hit the wall,” Wood called in return, then pulled Trent’s bottom lip between his teeth.

Trent closed his eyes and wrapped his arms tightly around Wood’s waist. He snatched and pulled on his thin T-shirt, pressing their hard-ons together until the throb in his lower body began to fade. Wood shoved one side of his robe open and slid his thigh between Trent’s legs. He went up on his toes when the coarse denim of Wood’s jeans came into contact with his balls, making him almost fucking explode. Trent turned his head and peeked down the hall, not wanting to get busted, but also not wanting to stop.

“Goddamnit.” Trent murmured as Wood kneaded his ass, his face buried in his throat. “Why didn’t you tell me they were coming?”

“They just showed up. I didn’t know either,” Wood said between bites of the sensitive skin beneath his ear.

“Mmmm, get off me before Bishop’s nosy ass comes to see what all the grunting is.” Trent halfheartedly shoved at Wood’s chest. “And I need to shower.”

Wood growled. “You smell fine to me. You smell like a hard day’s work.”

Trent ran his fingers through Wood’s hair and pulled him to his mouth. He smelled wonderful, and Trent was looking forward to having Wood’s scent embedded all over his sheets tonight. “Get of rid of them,” he ordered.

Wood grazed the tip of his tongue along his. “We can’t be rude.”

“Fine.” Trent shoved him away and went toward the bathroom. “I guess we won’t have room for dessert.”

Chapter Thirty-Five

Trent

Trent sat outside the ranch-style home that Bishop and Edison shared in an affluent part of Virginia Beach. He glanced at the time and saw Edison still had fifteen minutes to get there on time. Trent may’ve been a little excited about his date, especially after Wood’s behavior last night when he realized he didn’t have the time to indulge as he’d planned. Instead they’d had to listen to Edison drone on during dinner about the benefits of fresh ingredients over premade. By the time their company left, Trent was too tired to do anything, and he had to be up for work in five hours.

He smiled as he read the recent messages in his and Wood’s text thread. It was bordering on vulgar sexting at this point. He really wished they’d had a chance to do more exploring last night and he wouldn’t be so damn anxious today, but that was why he’d chosen to talk to Edison. Not long ago Edison had confided in him that he’d been a virgin when he’d met Bishop. Now he wasn’t. If anyone would understand what Trent was feeling, it’d be him.

Wood: Brody said he can drop me off after the mtg

Trent glanced around to make sure the coast was still clear, feeling his body warming. Never in his life had he been this excited for anyone.

Trent: K. I’ll be waiting for you in living room at eight. He sent the text and then immediately regretted it. Shit, that sounded too formal, like he was a prom date or something.

Wood: You gonna be wearing something sexy for me?

Trent scoffed. This guy has a one-track mind. Then he quickly typed.

Trent: Maybe

That was a stupid reply. He was so caught up in their flirting he didn’t stop to think that he didn’t have any hot clothes. Shit.

Wood: Doesn’t matter what clothes you wear. You won’t be in them for long. I gotta go. The meeting is about to start.

Trent: K.

He stared at the last sentence, praying that was true. He’d been using his own hand for too long, and Wood’s big, thick fingers fit so perfectly around his hard—

“Trent!” Edison banged on the window causing Trent to jerk his head up. “I’ve been waving at you. What are you doing?”

Fuck! “Damnit, Edison!” He scowled. “Didn’t Bishop tell you not to sneak up on us?”

“Yes, but I wasn’t sneaking.” Edison stood by his truck door staring at him as if he was sick. “I waved when I rode by, and then I was trying to get your attention when I got out my car. Are you gonna come in or what?”

Trent got out of the truck and followed Edison through his fence to enter the house through the patio. The landscape in the backyard looked like something out of a Home & Garden photo shoot. Bishop had gone all out when he’d remodeled Edison’s backyard in hopes of getting a date. Trent shook his head at the fire pit and outdoor grilling station thinking maybe his best friend had overshot.

“You hungry?” Edison asked as soon as they came through the door.

“No, I um… I already got plans for dinner,” Trent said as he watched Edison remove his suit jacket, then drape it over one of the breakfast bar stools.

“Really? So that’s the reason for the haircut?” Edison smiled.

“I guess,” Trent muttered.

“Either that or you need advice.”

Trent was taken off guard that Edison had picked up on that so quickly.

“My father used to tell me there’s only two reasons a man comes looking for a barber. Because he wants to look sharp… or he wants good advice.” Edison cocked his head to the side. “So which one brings you here today?”

Trent couldn’t help but laugh. “Both, I guess.” Edison really was the coolest guy Trent had ever met. He seemed as if he didn’t fit in with a bunch of ex-cons, but he had no problem holding his own when he was around them. If Trent had to pick someone for Bishop to desert him for… it’d be this guy.

“Come on back to my bedroom.”

Trent followed him through his nice home and again noticed how dapper Edison was dressed. His suit was black pinstriped and fit his thick body perfectly, and his shirt and tie didn’t appear to match, but somehow did. Trent didn’t get it. His shoes were midnight-black suede with a gold emblem on the tongue. “Nice shoes. What are those?”

“Gucci,” Edison replied easily.

Trent watched him disappear into a huge walk-in closet and come out a few minutes later in a Virginia Wesleyan sweatshirt and pair of loose-knit pants.

“Let’s get started. I don’t want you to be late.” Edison nodded toward another door, and Trent assumed it was his bathroom.

He’d expected it to be a normal master bath with a shower over the tub, sink, and a toilet. But when Edison opened the door, it was as if he’d literally stepped into a barber shop. The bathtub and separate shower were on the far side of the room and a quarter bath for the toilet. Holy shit. Edison’s home appeared so quaint and modest on the outside, but on the inside it was tailor-made to him. How did Trent not know that his friend was living like this?
