“So, I’ll be back Monday morning.”
Delaney looked up from her decaf coffee. “Say what?”
“I gotta go to work, Del.” We had been in a bubble of just being with each other the last two days, but now, I had to go back to reality.
“Oh, right, right,” she mumbled. “Pregnancy brain and all that.”
“You a little tired, Del?” After we took our nap last night, Delaney had woken up with twenty minutes to spare before the pizza place closed. We chowed down on a pepperoni and onion pizza then went for rounds two and three. We didn’t fall asleep for the night ‘til well after two.
She glared at me over the top of her coffee cup. “I think tired is an understatement.”
I chuckled and shook my head. “Maybe we should have held out on round three last night.”
“I’m fine, I’m fine,” she muttered. “Just a little slow going this morning especially with this decaf sludge you call coffee.”
Delaney was never going to get used to decaf coffee. “Maybe we can talk to the doctor at your next appointment and find out if you can maybe have one cup of coffee in the morning. Just a little bit to get you going.”
“I tried to talk her into it last time I went, but maybe you can lay on that Jay Perez charm and get the job done.”

“I gotta take off, Del. I need to pack and get my ass to the shop to help load up.”

“You gonna miss me?” I wrapped her up in my arms, and she tipped her head back.
Her eyes darted to the pantry. “I think you stocked me up pretty good on snacks, so if all else fails, I’ll eat ‘til I stop missing you.”
“So easily replaced by chips and candy.”
She shrugged and leaned up on her tiptoes. “Just get back here quick, and I won’t need to eat my weight in chips while you’re gone.”
I closed the distance between us and pressed my lips against hers. My fingers delved into her hair, and she moaned into the kiss. “I’m gonna miss you, Del.”
“Good,” she whispered.
