Author: Molly McAdams

I curled my fingers inside her and flattened my tongue against her clit. Hitting that spot as I devoured her like a man starved.

That’s what I’d been.

Deprived of her. Of this. Of her taste on my tongue and her moans filling my head. Of the way she felt. Fitting against me like she’d been made for me.

A groan scraped up my throat when she shattered against me with a soft cry. Her body arching and going tight as I drew out her orgasm before removing my fingers and trailing them across her sensitive flesh.

Then I was moving up her body, and she was pulling me closer to crush her mouth to mine. Whimpering against the kiss and reaching for my cock. Her lips twitching into a wicked little grin in response to the moan that built in my chest when she began pumping me as she led me to her heat.

I’d lost count of the number of times we’d come together over the night. But inching into her. Feeling her grip me . . . shudder and stretch around me. Hearing her soft intake of breath and my name falling from her lips like a prayer. That was a powerful combination. That was me falling in love with Madison Black all over again.

Every time.

When I was fully seated inside her, I stayed there. Stare kept on hers. Wrapped up in the love and adoration pouring from her for those moments before I started moving.

Taking her in long, slow strokes until her hands were no longer moving over me, studying me and taking me in the way I had her so many times. Once her fingers curled into my back, my pace quickened. My thrusts harder and faster until she was wrapping her legs around my waist and giving me a deeper angle. Making her eyes roll back and forcing the sexiest moan to fall from her lips.

I dipped down to capture her mouth. To taste the end of that moan and swallow her pleas for more.

With one last lingering kiss, I pushed back onto my knees and gripped her hips. Lifting her so only her shoulders remained on the bed as I gave her that. As I fucked her until she was crying out with her release and sending me into my own.

My chest dipped and rose rapidly as I came inside her. Holding her tight, our eyes locked and saying a dozen things.

I love you, I love you.

For-fucking-ever.

Tremors rolled down my spine as I eased out of her and moved to lay beside her. Pulling her close and brushing some of her wild hair back as I did.

Her stare danced over my face for a while before she whispered, “Good morning.”

A laugh rumbled in my chest. “Morning.”

“It’s early.” Her eyes shifted toward the large window behind me before meeting mine again. “Normal waking time, I’m guessing?”

I lifted my head in the slightest nod.

“Animals?”

“You’re more important.”

She curled in closer. A hum of contentment sounding in her throat as she pressed her forehead to mine. The tips of her fingers ghosting across my jaw. “They’re important. Besides, I dunno how much more I can do, Dixon,” she murmured playfully. “Barely gonna be able to walk as it is.”

“Good,” I said seriously.

The corner of her mouth lifted wryly.

“I want you to remember me in every step. I want you to smell me on your skin. I want you to remember what’s waiting for you here.”

Madison stared at me with wide eyes. That wry smirk having fallen into a stunned “O” as I’d spoken.

“I’ve never been so physically exhausted or turned on,” she breathed, the confession so soft I wouldn’t have heard it if she hadn’t been in my arms. At my rumbling laugh, she passed a soft kiss across my lips and rolled away. “Let’s go say good morning to your animals.”

I pulled her back. “I’ll take care of it. You get some sleep.”

A short, bemused laugh left her. “What? No. If you’re out there, I’m out there.”

“Mads—”

“Hunter, this was—” She pressed her mouth into a firm line. Her expression creasing with pain and regret.

“What?” I prodded. “Madison.”

“This was my dream,” she said on a rush. “This was the future I’d dreamed of and stopped from happening. You. Orchard. Ranch.” She glanced toward the bedroom door before looking at me. “If you’re out there, I wanna be out there.”

God damnit.

The need to know why she left was so great, I nearly choked on the question as I forced it back again and again.

“I know,” I said instead. “I know, Mads.” I grabbed the back of her head and pulled her close. Pressing a kiss to her forehead and letting my lips linger. “You’ve got shit to figure out with Raf. You’ve got things to figure out for Avalee, I get it. I’ll be here for all of it, and that future will be waiting for you at the end of it because it’s you and me forever. Yeah?”

“Yeah,” she said, voice soft but still confident.

I released her and rolled away, reaching for her as I did. “Then, let’s go.”

We got cleaned up and dressed in silence. Lingering glances and touches whenever we’d pass by each other, giving the time a wholly different feel than what we’d woken to.

And I craved it just as much.

Craved the way we walked from my room hand in hand. The way she did one of her old dance moves and then spun into my side so my arm was wrapped around her. Exactly the way she’d always done before. Giving me a sly smile once she did.

All without ever saying a word.

God damn, this girl.

Once we got out to the barn and corrals, she headed straight for the chicken coop. A giddy smile taking over her face as she fell into this place somewhere between the girl I’d fallen in love with and the woman I loved more than life itself.

Looking like big cities and money. Talking and moving like back-country roads and nights under the stars.

“Nice work, ladies,” she drawled as she walked over with a handful of eggs.

“Where you going?” I asked as she continued past where I was laying out some feed for them.

“Breakfast later,” she teased.

I watched her go, and from the look she sent over her shoulder when she reached the house, she knew exactly what she was doing to me.

By the time she came back out, I was milking one of the goats.

“Oh my gosh, Hunter,” she breathed as she took in the animals in the barn. “They’re all so small and adorable.”

A laugh worked up my throat. “Yeah, uh . . . kinda became a thing. Got these guys.” I nodded to the three Nigerian Dwarf goats. “This one is their mom. The others from that pregnancy had already been sold, and they were done breeding her. So, I took them all.” I looked over to where Baby and her sister were. “Then, I got those beasts.”

“They’re so fluffy,” Madison whispered, sounding all kinds of excited and in love with the Highland minis already.

“Yeah, well, the one on the right thinks she’s human.”

“Of course she does.” Somehow, that seemed to make Madison adore Baby even more.

“After that, I figured whatever else I got would have to be small too.” I nodded toward the little Juliana pigs, eagerly waiting to be fed. “Found them next.”

“I love them all.”

I glanced to the side to find Madison next to me. Holding one of the goats in her arms as the other climbed in her lap and then onto her shoulder, only to jump off and repeat the process.
